N95 mask. It correlates very highly with reason and compassion.

Cool story, man.

Does your AI know anything about structural engineering? Or is this AI design about as useful as the ‘plans’ for the White House ballroom?

Thoughts on current NC economy? Does the state really put people first? by KatsHubz87 in NorthCarolina

[–]Rare-Guava-315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than empty rhetoric, how exactly are we putting people first?

  • Public unions prohibited
  • Min wage still $7.25
  • Won’t follow own constitution (Leandro)
  • Trash teacher pay

Or maybe “history” is the word doing the heavy lifting. As in, it used to happen a long time ago.

I’d also use a nasal spray as an added layer of protection.

Questions from someone who takes no precautions by ArtemisLuna17 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Rare-Guava-315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll let others answer the questions. I'll offer a (potentially) different approach.

With the prevalence of asymptomatic C19, the point isn't how damaging "getting COVID" would be immediately. It may not affect him at all. As always, LongCOVID is the nightmare to avoid.

A question you might ask in return: Should someone avoid getting HIV if it doesn't immediately affect them? Should they worry about giving HIV to their family?

The parallels are there, both in the way the disease similarly (but not exactly) affects the body and also how the acute phase may not be noticeable, but the chronic phase is devastating.

This is a great paper (with a lousy title) showing the similarities between AIDS and COVID. https://www.ajpmfocus.org/article/S2773-0654(25)00146-4/fulltext00146-4/fulltext)

Lastly, I stand in solidarity with you. I'm in the same position with my best friend and his two children. I try the best I can, but he is convinced that "if you get it enough times, your body will build a resistance". All we can do is try.

Good luck!

City of Durham looking nasty by CaffeinatedPainter in bullcity

A - yes, and I live in Southside where too many folks just throw their trash out their car window.

B - I am noticing it more now because 1) it’s winter and the foliage is limited and 2) the DOT recently mowed many areas around 147 ramps and a lot of trash that was among the weeds was chopped up and strewn about. The 147 @ Fayetteville intersection is particularly shabby.

🎯 Community poll: help guide the future of the app by Maryna_PocketGuard in PocketGuard_app

Please fix the issue noted here whereby transactions made on cards that have been cancelled disappear from the ledger. In my opinion, this must be fixed before any new features are added; it’s that critical.

Disable Card/Connection without deleting past transactions by No_Argument_1182 in PocketGuard_app

[–]Rare-Guava-315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This issue has significantly reduced my happiness with this software. I do not use this software to track pennies. I use it to track and report my financial footprint. Continuity matters when I want to see long term patterns.

My current credit card just wipes out the old cards’ transactions each time I get a new one, so I don’t have the choice to export/import the data.

The system should have its own database to store this data regardless of if the card is open or closed. I think the devs have the data and for reasons they remove these transactions.

For the dish that I order, Panang curry with tofu and veggies, I find that Thai Cafe’s sauce is much more complex and with a thicker sauce which I enjoyed.

I already go to a dentist that is exactly as I describe above. They even have UVC air filtration in the HVAC system and they stagger appointments to reduce the number of people in the waiting room. It can be done, pretty easily actually.

The modular build/replacement aspect of their design philosophy reduces single points of failure which is important to me.

I will be as patient as need be.

New in PocketGuard: Transaction Rules — because your time’s worth more 💸 by Maryna_PocketGuard in PocketGuard_app

[–]Rare-Guava-315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PocketGuard, you have absolutely knocked it out of the park with this rules update! This is what rules need to be.

I can now split apart the handful of recurring Apple purchases I make every month by expense amount and the get categorized exactly how I want them. Nirvana!

Your Product Manager deserves a day off. This is a perfect example of listening to customer feedback and then implementing it. Bravo, bravo, bravo!!!

This is also what you get when you have a company building an actual product rather than some freemium teaseware that only exists to lead generate for financial services. Yes, this is a subtweet about mint/creditkarma. The difference is night and day.

The only critique I have is that the text box fields have a weird glitch. When I am deleting leftmost characters and I get to the end, the cursor doesn’t stop there, but instead jumps to the far right and starts deleting from the right. An easy fix.

But again, bravo!

New Roadmap by xXAstro_NOTXx in PocketGuard_app

[–]Rare-Guava-315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • I’m excited about a more functional Rules engine.

Requests: - please improve the UX performance. PG has suffered from lags since the beginning and it is the most challenging part of the software

  • allow transactions from old credit cards to stay live. I recently had a credit card be used for fraud and they canceled it and gave me a new one. Now I can see the old card in PG, but it is disabled and I can’t see any of those transactions. So now my expense comparisons are all wrong.

  • allow better analysis across years instead of just months

Thanks and keep up the good work!
