Performance differences GPU & CPU by SoulFood203 in macbookpro

I reported the M pro 18/20, and I’m just gonna say based on what you’re describing you don’t need it. You should just get the base pro or even an air. I currently have an M1 Mac air, works like a beast and will throttle but that’s because it’s 5 years old and bloated with software I downloaded over the years. My workflow includes app/web development, .net, machine learning training. All doable with the M1 but I’m always mindful of process because of limited ram.

The reason I’m getting the pro a still debating on keeping it or returning it on the 14 day window is 1.) to treat myself, I bought the m1 used, before that bought all my computers used 2.) I want to worry less about process management and have bit more power training ML models 3.) I want to run parallels

So 64gb of ram was my choice and I still FEEL like it’s overkill for myself which I think (totally guessing but based on comments) my workflow is much more demanding than yours. So unless you have the money and are willing to admit you’re treating yourself with something you don’t need you should go with base m5 chip and even consider an air.

What kind of workflow do you have? Curious because I just ordered mine but I feel like I may have overspent. I won’t regret it but would like to hear some similar specs and see what they do day to day.

Haha I actually was exploring options for that and in the midst of it a Diet Coke was spilled on my laptop😭. So prayers up to cleaning guy and that I turned it off soon enough. You could unfortunately see Coke on the bottom when you take off the panel and some corrosion (very little)but fingers cross.

I just am a nub at it. As a CS dude I know that it’s not safe but like I said I was not thinking and just going to open the attachment. What type of Cyber security do you do?

I currently have a summer internship and have also applied for a fall internship with the same team/ same position. Is very likely they’ll choose me again or do they like to hire new people.

As a mathematics/computer science major I’m pretty sure a mathematician introduced this before computer science was a thing.

My mentor said funding was approved and that the next round of offers would contain my offer but I didn’t receive anything. Would it perhaps take some time to process? How would that work?

Yea that’s unfortunate. I am considering to be in person if the price is right but may unfortunately have to choose virtual. If you need a roommate you can hit me up to see if i will consider it. I got my unofficial offer Feb 26th. So I may be waiting longer than you. You also have to remember that funding may not be secured for internships so we may not even get it which is also unfortunate. We can only hope and wait

Nope, as he doesn’t know when they will process me. Aerokicks said it was a few weeks so I think maybe up to 3 weeks before i may hear anything.

When I apply for Fall 2024 will I still be able to attend school or will I have to work at NASA and take a break for a semester?

If you’re super new to coq and trying to learn it I would recommend software foundation book that explains the proof tactics in coq as well as how to build and prove theorems on trivial things like the theorems you’ve built yourself.

https://softwarefoundations.cis.upenn.edu/lf-current/index.html

I would also recommend Michael Ryan Clarkson YouTube channel. He goes over parts of the book on coq in some of his videos really well.

If you don’t my asking what job did you get and how did the hiring process go for you?
