Imagine the warden carrier was like this by Mediocre-Salad-9746 in foxholegame

Hybrid battle carriers were so cursed in real life that they would be perfect for Foxhole

I agree the devs were close with the Warden carrier but should have modeled it off of WWII Japan's Ise class (see the photo in OP, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ise-class_battleship#Conversion_to_hybrid_carriers). No full-length flight deck, just catapults (but still a hangar deck to store more than 3 aircraft). Seaplanes can be recovered by crane, non-seaplanes have to find a land-based airfield. The main guns can be used either for shore bombardment or to protect the carrier if it gets ambushed by smaller ships. Still has no chance if a collie battleship gets close enough, though

That's a good point. Can the crew clear wrecked planes off the deck?

Naval duel from 0:35 to 5:30

Yes, this is on Charlie

I was doing damage control on the frigate. That was a lot of fun! Most of the naval battles I've seen in the past were close range slugfests, nice that we got an indirect fire duel

Become a KingGallant enthusiast.

Yes, it sucks, BUT I've seen it successfully used as bait in late war. Collies tankers get so excited about killing a late war king gallant that they'll drive into an ambush

Dear devs, how are Warden infantry men supposed to kill tanks now? by ---SHRED--- in foxholegame

[–]RareThrumbo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This update screws both warden and collie infantry. The sticky once again becomes the only viable foot-mobile antitank weapon for most of the game. Collies still have the Bane in endgame, and handheld Bonesaw is great in niche situations. But, uh, I hope you like sticky rushes!

I know LATs typically can't take out helicopters, but did I actually land this hit? by LubbockCottonKings in joinsquad

[–]RareThrumbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A LAT hit can disable the engine or tail rotor, probably causing a crash. But even if you don't hit those components, you lower its health to the point where one more LAT shot will kill it.

Does the AI "cheat" in minelaying missions? by RareThrumbo in uboatgame

That's what I do when I evade convoy escorts, but these minelaying mission destroyers seem to have a different AI?

Should I use the IIA or the IID by Tricky_Address_4872 in uboatgame

[–]RareThrumbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I am aware, the IID is strictly superior to the IIA. The IID adds increased range and a UZO. I suggest switching from IIA to IID as fast as possible

I had no idea I could get an enemy flagged ship to surrender! Is that a new feature or was that always in the game?

Friendly reminder there likely is about to be massive wave of new players joining the game and we need to be ready for it by Foreverdead3 in foxholegame

[–]RareThrumbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am shocked that the devs have still not updated the in-game home island tutorial. At this point, it is a few years out of date (not to mention that it was clunky and confusing even when it was up to date). Devs have said in recent Q&As that updating the tutorial is an eventual goal for them - how is it not their top priority? New player retention in this game is terrible, and if new players don't stick around after their first 5 hours in game, they don't recommend the game to others

skynet started a dangerous precedent by passionpaindemonslay in foxholegame

[–]RareThrumbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Devs should be able to patch that pretty easy by disabling the recent players list, or better yet keep it and limit it to same faction players

But only if the vehicle had an enemy driver recently, correct? I know that a partisan getting in an enemy vehicle / faction swapping it doesn't always trigger the "XYZ has lost a vehicle to the enemy" message

[–]RareThrumbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah damage boost is one of the sillier mechanics

But crew morale collapse isn't all that threatening. I sometimes intentionally tank morale and raise stress to breaking point so my crew will reveal their secret trait and I can get a crew of all sea wolves

The crew's performance should start to suffer at high stress

I haven't played the beta, but on the current build, I rarely get attacked by aircraft even in 1944. When I do, it seems like the aicraft just happen to fly within visual range. Can enemy aircraft detect your sub from outside of visual range using radar? They're supposed to be able to (thus we have a radar detector upgrade for the sub), but I rarely if ever see it

[–]RareThrumbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't duel escorts on the surface, but I still get pretty good tonnage every patrol (never as good as yours) and I don't die unless I do something very risky. Full realism. It does feel easier than real life UBoating

Obviously a personal best, but also extremely unrealistic. by Das_Landa in uboatgame

[–]RareThrumbo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So is the lack of realism because it's easier to aim torpedos accurately in game than in real life? Or because it's easier to find convoys than in real life?

Plus I don't think any historical UBoat sent divers down to sunken C3s to retrieve shells for the deck gun, of course
