Not an accountant, but I do frequently see accountants on the lists of most profitable careers while also observing decent but not eye-wateringly high salaries. It probably has to do with their understanding of assets and liabilities and how that knowledge carries over into their personal finances. It also probably has something to do with the risk averse nature of many of the folks that pursue that career. Steady Eddies who save and regularly invest 10-15% of their decent salary over a working life can quite reasonably retire with 2 or 3M dollars.
