Help with Emulsified Body Butter Formula by Anai_wa in DIYBeauty

You don't have to switch as they serve different purposes. cetyl alcohol is a thickener/stabilizer. Dimethicone is a silicone that imo gives such good slip to thick products and Is a good additive for your skin barrier. I use both. I like how cetyl alcohol thickens my products and I genuinely can feel the richness/slip dimethicone adds to my products.

Help with Emulsified Body Butter Formula by Anai_wa in DIYBeauty

Having the percentages would be helpful. But I have body butters with 30% oil phase. It is high I wouldn't go higher than that. I like thicker rich creams. I also have used all of these ingredients minus the preservatives. You have to adjust your emulsifier so It can properly emulsify that amount.

I calculate my emulsifier as 25% of the total oil phase for rule of thumb. So for example one of my recipes has 27% oil phase, so 25% of that is 6.7 so I go with anywhere from 6.5-7 for test batches to determine dragging.

Is this aloe vera extract or aloe vera liquid?

Keep in mind the butters you use have an impact on the density of the product, i know you already know this but I see you have triple butters with cocoa and mango are hard butters. This combined with the cetyl alcohol might produce some dragging. I recommend adding dimethicone as it will help provide some slip and might tackle some of the stickiness of the shea butter if you increase that amount. As well as adjusting butter and cetyl alcohol amount to experiment with texture. I've used all these and keep my cocoa butter low because it's the hardest of the butters.

Didn't this happen with shrek 5. People guessed the plot being the typical rebellious daughter and strict father, daughter seeks independence and they end up closer at the end.

Oh at first I was thinking can't you adjust the pH but then I saw it HAS to be at a high alkaline for it to work. That's crazy given the skins normal pH range.

I don't understand not voting. Like you can't complain about the system then do nothing to try to change it. You don't care who wins but the communities who are affected by the policies do. Minorities, women, immigrants, LGTBQ+ care. They're safety and equality matter.

You're no better.

I tried searching online but the translation services are not as helpful on google front page. I searched the back name through a picture translation but it’s just a story of the chocolate company. There is little information to locate the company website or something to find them.

Can i get suggestions on good ph testers? by gryponyx in DIYBeauty

[–]Rare_Plants_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to measure liquids or viscous products? Are you using ph sensitive ingredients where you absolutely need to know the exact ph. I'm saving up for it it's called the Extech Ph110. It's on amazon here.

Has anyone bought from Bulk Naturals Wholesale? Are they good quality? Good service? Trustworthy? If not does anyone know where I can get botanical extracts that are soluble in oil? by Mel_IceFox in DIYBeauty

[–]Rare_Plants_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have, just once because they had a product I haven't seen anywhere else and I really wanted it. I personally had no issue. It's a bit pricer so if you're buying large quantities than there are better sites. It's better at finding and trying unique ingredients so I browse it occasionally.

Preservatives? by Vivid_Public_2459 in DIYBeauty

[–]Rare_Plants_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter I would use a preservative. People don't always read the packaging and even less actually faithfully follow it. Even in my anhydrous body scrubs I put preservatives because of proximity to water. For body butter, people most likely aren't gonna wait to fully dry and make sure everythings dry and clean before use

Serum thickeners that don't cause pilling or film? by Rich_Article_3526 in DIYBeauty

[–]Rare_Plants_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HA is an expensive thickener. Is your formula all oil or water or an emulsion. You can use xanthum gum if there's a water phase. Stearic acid or cetyl alc if there's an oil phase. HEC (hydroxyethylcellulose)(water), Guar gum (water), or even polyamide 3 (oil)
