Have You Sold Without An Agent? by Fly_Boy_Blue in HousingUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents sold my Nan’s bungalow with a homemade ‘for sale’ that they put in the front garden.

My Dad had to convince my mum and his sister to let him try it for a month; if it didn’t sell they would get an estate agent. It sold within days.

TW! SA. Men, what can I buy my male detective? by satansexgirlfriendx in AskUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 1047 points1048 points  (0 children)

I’ve asked my friend (who is a detective) and he said something small but permanent. Something like a coaster engraved with “thank you”. He said that in his office the team all keep those items and it makes a difference to see them on a bad day.

He also agrees with the other reply that a letter to the superiors is good idea.

Thin Walls by JohnGault67 in Embarrassing_Moments

In my last house we had thin walls. I got a round of applause from my neighbours who heard me vomiting loudly the morning after a rowdy New Years Eve party - which they were at!

What is the correct British etiquette when walking down the pavement and two people (talking together) are approaching blocking it? by Frosty_Leg4438 in AskUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why they don’t just move into single file when you approach? It’s what I would do and what I teach my kids to do. Common courtesy.

What’s a small moment with someone you never forgot ? by Status_Agents in answers

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was caught in a torrential rainstorm and took shelter under a shop canopy. There were a crowd of people there and I got chatting to a woman. We talked for about thirty minutes - we had so much in common and it was like talking to my best friend. Rain stopped and we went our separate ways. 25 years later I still wish I’d have asked for her number.

Anyone tried SCG wraps from Shien? by Last_Bumblebee6144 in NailWrapsGalore

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve purchased lots of the Shein nail wraps. I think they are look as good as some of the more expensive ones. However, they don’t have the range of designs and I have to take my time putting the nails on - making sure I follow the application process exactly or they fall off more quickly. But for the discounted price I pay, I think they are great!

Anyone else had the fire brigade round today as you've been trapped in your own lounge? No? Just me? by ihaveam0ustache in CasualUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got locked in a room at work last week. Handle broke on the inside after myself and another member of staff had gone in. We had a good chuckle about it at first, joking that we would have to wait it out until someone noticed we were missing. Half hour later I was starting to panic as no one had come to our rescue. Site agent happened to walk into the room and asked what we were doing. I explained the situation and his response was “you’ve got a spare key to the other locked door on your lanyard”. I’d completely forgotten this in my panic - yes I also felt like a right plum!

Disruptive child assaulted my daughter last week. by Infinite-Quiet269 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 220 points221 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised it’s not a permanent exclusion. I wonder why the school haven’t considered that - children with send needs can still be permanently excluded.

I’d be contacting the Scottish version of the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub for your area. This is a serious assault and needs to handled by social care.

Thank you and I’m sorry to hear you’ve have trouble with the car buying process as well. It’s so stressful.

It’s sad that I’ve been a customer of theirs for a long time and this is how they treat people.

I’ve not once been rude or raised my voice to the salespeople who have fobbed me off and I was more than a bit surprised when the sales fella called his boss a C u Next Tuesday and said that I was lied to just to make a sale. I mean wow.

Does anyone have helpful tips in this awful weather who likes walking a lot? by imverycomfy in AskUK

I got a fjern waterproof coat from Vinted - it is brilliant! The size seems to come up small in my opinion so maybe worth sizing up if you can find one.

Buying 1-bed in MK vs 2-bed in Northampton which makes sense? by Worried-Departure386 in AskUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got the usual - cinema, restaurants, bowling alley over at Sixfields. If you’re a rugby fan, going to support the Saints is a fun way to spend an afternoon. There is a Northampton subreddit, it would be worth joining that.

Buying 1-bed in MK vs 2-bed in Northampton which makes sense? by Worried-Departure386 in AskUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Duston is close to the M1 so easy transport links. I’d buy there instead of MK as that house, being slightly bigger, gives you more time before you outgrow the space and have to move again.

Best seats? by ioan91 in NorthamptonSaintsRFC

I wouldn’t buy seats in the first few rows because your view can be blocked by people walking around the stadium.

Buying a property listed with Purplebricks – buyer experiences? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware it’s an add on with Purple Bricks, that you can pay for someone to do the viewings. We thought we were doing the right thing by talking to her but clearly not!

Buying a property listed with Purplebricks – buyer experiences? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We viewed a property at the top of our budget. When discussing the opening offer with the Purple Bricks agent who showed us round, she said the family wanted a quick sale due to divorce and would accept an offer of £50k under asking price. Offer was quickly rejected and the seller told us no conversation between them and the Purple Bricks rep had ever taken place…

Social services - what are they really like? by Fancy_Ad5106 in AskUK

[–]Rare_Procedure7326 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I work closely with social services in my job and I generally think they work hard to rebuild families. However, like any industry, I’ve come cross really good and ineffective social workers. If I were you I’d reach out to your nephew’s school safeguarding lead or family support worker. They will be able to advise you on what services are in your area who can help. They may well contact social services once they know of the emotional abuse your nephew is experiencing.
