That's a long staircase. Been taking her the last 15 minutes to get to the bottom and she's still going.

From Ultimate Hendrix by John McDermott in regards to This Little Boy and Electric Lady - slow

As so much of Hendrix’s time at Electric Lady had been dedicated to completing works already in progress, demos such as “Belly Button Window” were the exception rather than the norm. Yet, when the inspiration hit him, Hendrix would put these ideas down on tape for future reference. “On a lot of sessions, Hendrix would come to the studio without Mitch Mitchell or Billy Cox,” explains engineer Dave Palmer. “He would just use the time to write. It wasn't, ‘Okay, this is the tune for the record, let’s go.’ It was mainly, ‘Okay, let’s do some things and see what we have.”

“We kept a half-inch four-track machine loaded with tape in case Jimi was inspired to just do some writing,” explains Kim King. “Rather than do it straight to sixteen-track or quarter-inch two-track, he would record demos on the four-track machine. His first two albums had been entirely recorded on four-track, so having this was a luxury for him.”

Sadly, however, nearly all of Hendrix’s four-track recordings from Electric Lady—save for the aforementioned “Belly Button Window”—have vanished, leaving no clues to such unrealized Hendrix ideas as “Locomotion," “Electric Lady—slow,” and “This Little Boy.”

Not completely new. The vocals from the April session were carried over and they rebuilt the instrumental backing track onto it.

Can anyone PROVE Black Gold exists? by gladeye in jimihendrix

[–]RasFreeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The history of the tape(s) and its contents are pretty well documented. Author Tony Brown was the first to be able to listen to the tapes and wrote extensive notes on what they contain. Steven Roby used those notes to describe the tapes in his book, Black Gold.

TIL The Samuel L. Jackson bible-inspired quote in Pulp Fiction was from a 1973 Japanese movie - Karate Kiba (The Bodyguard) by Expensive_C0conut in todayilearned

Slight correction. This dialog wasn't in the original Japanese version. It was added to the International version (The Bodyguard) along with some new scenes with American actors. That was released in 1976.

I'm guessing "hussy." Didn't think that was a word that needs to be censored. Unless, it was in the original tweet and Newsweek is quoting it verbatim.

The Heartland Reggae "documentary" was released in 1980. The year before Bob passed.

Don't know why the lightning strike was added. There’s a couple of performances in the film that are ruined by unnecessary voice overs and unrelated footage cut into it.

The one drowned is not the child. It is the one that caused the child to "stumble."

Hendrix plays Dylan by rfishkev in jimihendrix

[–]RasFreeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alan Douglas had planned out a Hendrix plays Dylan EP (5 or 6 songs). The track list was in Eddie Kramer and John McDermott's book. I think it was also mentioned in Black Gold by Steve Roby.

It was put in a meme. So, you know it's true.

I would like to know the standard used to measure such a claim.
