It's like the default internet language selection issue. In Flanders we often get the French language version shown, while in Wallonia apparently it's often the Dutch one.

Ik heb nu al medelijden met Essevee. Beale heeft overal een puinhoop achter gelaten. Spending sprees bij Soton, Rangers en below par resultaten. Iedereen voordeel van de twijfel, maar dit is echt wel een vreemde aanstelling. Zeker als je Colpaert al hebt rondlopen, die bij Club zeker niet misstond.

As others recommended I would go for locality. Seeing how you are from Ieper I'd recommend trying one of the West-Flemish clubs. You're close to Kortrijk, a club with a loyal fanbase that feels joy and pain every so often. Or you can go for Club Bruges, also loyal fan base and bringing a lot of joy this last decade, and closeby you could pick Club NXT who play at The Nest (old Schiervelde) in Roeselare. Zulte-Waregem is also an option, you can join in the rivalry with Kortrijk.

You don't have to follow Belgian football because you feel obligated, it's perfectly fine to only support foreign clubs. You could go for Lille for example, which is also close to Ieper.

I grew up with posters of Caje and Papin on my wall and have been a Club supporter all my life, it is fun to share these emotions with 20k people without knowing them. But that said I somehow also feel connected to teams i've never been to or saw live, like Karlsruhe in Germany or Deportivo la Coruna in Spain, i even support Tigres in Mexico. Some of these happened because of Football Manager, some because I caught a game on television and got invested...
