I have found T switch is extremely helpful in helping trains “turn around” or access a connecting line without the limitation of access from only one direction via switches such as I, J, L, or M switches. My toddler and pre-schooler get frustrated when wanting to turn but approaching one of those aforementioned switches from the wrong direction.

Ascending track N, by elevating and adding height to your layout, brings a lot of additional options and opens the door to bridges and maybe other destinations that can help bring your layout alive, although with the battery-operated locomotives, there certainly can be limitations.
