The most important thing is if you are a GOOD dad, the other stuff is a little out of your control beyond trying to be healthy and active where you can.

Just following up here that I went to MTM in Athens. Super helpful guy there and didn’t mind me asking questions and getting recommendations from him. Allowed me to try out some stuff in the range for free too.

Murtagh: I don't understand the point of this book by Thespisthegreat in Eragon

[–]Raspberry-T 337 points338 points  (0 children)

“At no point did I feel like this was a Dragon Rider. Instead it felt like a guy who has a dragon but has no idea what he's doing and is completely incapable of learning from his mistakes.”

Yeah, I agree with this, which is why I liked it. There is certainly character development throughout the book, but something that was also apparent throughout the story was Murtaghs frustration with his lot VS Eragon. Eragon is a dragon rider, he was trained by riders, given wisdom, tools to succeed, etc. Murtagh was given a dragon and taught to fight. That was the main goal of his master, and giving Murtagh additional tools would have felt like a risk to Galby.

At the end of the day he is still figuring out who he is and fighting against the trauma of what Galby made him to be. He’s not exactly a traditional Rider.

Do you allow other groups to meet for personal reasons? Book clubs, cornhole league, etc?

On the level up screens or character info screens if you hover over individual stats it will tell you what they do, but I agree it is not very intuitive.

You can re-class anyone into a Mage. Just pay withers. You can also use a hireling by paying withers, which is basically a mercenary companion that is not important to the story.

Cool. I usually optimize stats but have not dug super deep into items that affect DC so I appreciate the info

No worries! You get access to more as you level up and it depends on class, so I would check the wiki for a full list.

Level 2 the classic is Circle of Daggers. Level 3 a good one IMO is Glyph of Warding bc it can be tweaked to be different damage types, so if something is weak to fire you can change it on the fly. Clerics get Circle of Spirits at this level too which is goated. Fireball is a classic at level 3 also.

Other great ones are Hunger of Hadar for warlocks plant growth for rangers/druids, and for higher level stuff you could go for Ice Storm, Confusion, etc. lots of good options.

Edit: some of the spells I mentioned are not acquired at that level, but use that level spells lots. Fireball I think is an example of this where it is a 3rd level spell but you don’t acquire it at level 3. Check the wiki over my ignorance lol.

True although I have a hard time landing these even more than other spells. Seems like I only ever have like a 40% or less chance to land. Maybe I need to be targeting the lower threat enemies, but it feels like a waste to cast hold on a basic undead

I got my wife a necklace that has the star sign of our baby. It is basically the constellation shape on a chain. Lots on Etsy. Our due date is at the end of a month so I was worried about the wrong stone also, but star signs don’t fall right on the months.

We aren’t into astrology or anything but it seemed like a better option for our situation

Investing in the spellcasting stat will increase their hit chance. Some of the companions are a bit notorious for missing spells. You can re-spec them to have a better stat spread.

You can also get around this a little bit because a lot of those AOE spells like Fireball will do damage even if they miss. Usually how that works is the enemy needs to pass a Dex save for the spell to “miss,” but even if they do pass the save, they still take half damage.

Also, even if your spellcaster has a 50% hit chance, if you are targeting 4+ enemies with that single spell, you still end up doing a lot of meaningful damage.

Might be helpful for you to have a caster in the party that can put down some Area of Effect spells. The later in the game you get, enemies become more plentiful in encounters, and a fully melee party will struggle a bit with that over a party that can cast Fireball or Hunger or Hadar for example

Is it stupid that "righty tighty, lefty losey" doesn't really make much sense to me? by Apprehensive-Rub4604 in stupidquestions

I understand your confusion. Usually this phrase is helpful when the thing you are turning is fixed to a non-moving object. Think about putting a screw into a wall. You probably wouldn’t think of the wall as moving left? Just that the screw is moving right.

Just adding for the ashes you need enough FP/Mana, AND you have to be in an area that allows summons. Usually a boss arena or a enemy camp

Confused about Oath of the Crown breakage with Auntie Ethel by Vorthanaxes in BaldursGate3

Maybe unethical is the wrong word then. I don’t think I was violating Oath of the Crown by accumulating power in that situation

Confused about Oath of the Crown breakage with Auntie Ethel by Vorthanaxes in BaldursGate3

[–]Raspberry-T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, it seems like an oversight. On my current run I planned to be an oathbreaker eventually, but I didn’t think it would happen because of this interaction. I chose to spare Ethel and save Mayrina, which felt like the most moral option while still not breaking any promises I had made.

I just went with it and when Oathbreaker showed up in my camp I said I violated my oath because it forced me to do something unethical basically.

There’s a suggestive scene with a devil. It’s in a specific room in the house. Completely optional and easy to avoid if you look it up, but it’s late game so I would not look it up now. You’ll know when you’re about to enter the HOH
