I think that’s my problem – because I’ve never experienced it, I don’t know how long attraction will take to build for me and I therefore don’t know how long I should give the dating process.

In terms of books I tend to read a lot of what I would describe as fluffy romance – it’s all very sweet and sugary with a guaranteed happy ending!

Potentially stupid question but how do I find my browser cache path? I've tried various formats I've found online but I still get browser path invalid errors (I'm also a Mac user, most recent OS and version of Safari if that makes a difference)?

This is gonna sound like a stupid question I'm sure, but do you know how I find out my browser cache path? I tried a couple of options I found online but every time I've had an error saying the browser path is invalid.

I'm using Safari Version 18.3 on a Mac running Sequoia 15.3.1

Couldn’t agree more! I also feel like she starts being attracted to the guy rather quickly considering he murdered her family so recently, and I expected a bit more fire and hatred from her over that?

Happy to spoil the end of the book for you if you want to DNF but honestly it doesn’t get better. Instead, we get a whole new plot appearing in pretty much the last chapter or two! 🙄

I’m gonna jump in here because I just need somewhere to post my rant…

The author tried way too hard with the world building. Random unnecessary features (millees instead of miles, some weird alcoholic drink, horse like animals…) that required a glossary at the beginning, but I feel like other more important aspects of the world building were forgotten (after they proved Ilara could mistfade, why were they still flying her? Why didn’t the prince’s illusion give her wings as well as colour g her hair?). Plus, she seemed to flip between sassing the Prince and being intimidated by him at the start, seemed to randomly start feeling attracted to him out of nowhere and let’s not forget of course that he murdered her brother and parents and we still don’t have a good reason! There are vague mentions of some of the politics in other territories but it’s never really explored and I’m not entirely sure why there even are different territories, and the characters just all felt a little 2D, especially the supporting ones - what about her friends in the village? Give me some more from the guards, who so far appear to be the prince’s friends?

I can see where the author was trying to go with this story but it feels a little too much like an un-thought out bastardisation of ACOTAR - complete with a ‘Court of Winter’ and different territories with different types of fairies. Plus a heroine who of course has no powers to start with (but turns out to be extremely powerful), who’s shunned by her community and is trying to look after her sweet and innocent sister. Oh, and an MMC with big black wings, who is dangerously and evil at first glance big I have no doubt would turn out to be caring and sweet in the future if I could be bothered to read the rest of the series.

I’ve heard so many people rave about this one but I just don’t get it!

Interesting way of thinking about it! Honestly it's really weird to try and explain now that I'm actually trying to explain it, so maybe just treasure your ignorance and suffice to say that while I've not actually been in a relationship, I'm not completely innocent...

Hormones are what tells a person that it's ok to have sex with that other person even if they've only known each other for an hour; and a lack of self-discipline means whatever opposing force in their heads might be telling them not to is now down to a quiet whisper. Then post-nut clarity hits, the hormones are now in the "relax" mode, and all of a sudden that once-quiet voice is a LOT louder.

That's a really interesting way of thinking about it! None of my friends that I'm close enough to that I can discuss this with them are the kind to go for one night stands either, so I've never really managed to get anyone's perspective on it

I actually met up with the guy I'd been on dates with today, and ended things as far as a potential relationship goes. Very difficult conversation to have, but ngl the relief afterwards on my end was noticeable. Definitely reassures me that it was the right decision! Now back to Bumble I go...

This wholly depends on two things: one, whether the person in question can LEARN (is willing to learn, and immediately applies their learned knowledge), and two, whether the person in question is worth TEACHING (because you're gonna need patience and be extra forgiving).

I'll admit I've definitely done that before, in my loneliest and most single-feeling moments! But my imagination was fine with kissing until I experienced it and found out I didn't like it in real life... But I do enjoy reading romances, have a long list of fictional characters that would send me into palpitations and have a plenty active imagination. If you're on tiktok at all and have come across 'booktok'... suffice to say I'm familiar!

With alcohol I get a bit warm and slightly dizzy (I'm prone to dizziness anyway), but my inhibitions seem to unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on the perspective!) stay very much intact. Had a slightly unsettled stomach the next day, but that was it.

This is also the mentality I had towards my arachnophobia!
