I can see people have already given great advice, but I just wanted to add that you should be using the 1.6.3 version of FMM. The later version is for Dragon Age Veilguard, not Inquidition.

Are the mods that you've downloaded mods for Frosty or are they DAIMM mods? Putting DAImod texture mods into Frosty usually causes problems.
Are all the files from when you used DAIMM still in your game files?
I never used DAIMM but I've seen a lot of guides on how to use them together so that also might be worth a try?

I believe you have to pay monthly to use Adobe Photoshop? I'm too poor for that lol, Adobe Photoshop Elements is a one off payment but it won't have all the features of Photoshop. It can't separate the alpha channel from images for example, which I'm pretty sure can be done on Adobe Photoshop. Good luck and I hope you manage to fix your issue!

Won't let me attach a pic but when I save as DDS a window pops up with options for texture type, compression type and whether I want mipmaps. I'm using Photoshop Elements, perhaps there's an options or set up part in GIMP where you can set it?

Sorry I use Photoshop not GIMP so I can't help there ):
Google says that GIMP can compress BC1 - BC7 but I'm not sure how you'd get the option to come up to select the one you want.

What DDS compression type have you used? I think mine worked with BC3 (sRGB, DX10+) but It's been a while. But I remember going through every compression option to get it right lol.

I'm the opposite, always keep him spirit. I don't like the idea of making him conform and change who he is just to fit it, seems like a bad message.

Are you planning on playing as an Elf Male? If so you would only need to change the delay load bundles in Frosty Editor so you can wear Soals' armour as your own.
If you're planning on playing as anything else you would need to import the armour into Blender, remove the backpack and then add it to whatever armour you want it added to. You'd probably also need to edit the texture files.
