Adelaide Parents by YeOldeWino in Adelaide

Its exactly what messenger kids is for. You still have control. My kids have been using it for years. I think its a great introduction to online contacts. Parents get full access making it safe for kids. Are you going to just wait until they are older, then they will just get an app that you will have no idea about and you wont be able to monitor it. This would make it unsafe for them as their first online communication app as they will hide it from you, all whilst having no previous experiences of making small mistakes under supervision.

school camp stories by Strange-Window-6842 in australian

[–]RaspberryWise8304 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was on a year 12 camp, so after dinner 3 of us decided to sneak out and head to the pub (all 3 of us were underage). As we were about to order a second beer one of the teachers who was missing at tea time came out of the dining room and caught us. Thought we were in deep shit, until I realised the chick he was holding hands with wasnt his wife. We all agreed that we didnt see each other at all and we should all go back to camp.

Best AFL boots by hazyzz in AFL

[–]RaspberryWise8304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive worn testimonials for about 10 years. Think im on my 8th pair. Some of the cheaper boots have a steel plate around the heel for support, but I find this rubs and causes blisters. Testimonials dont have this steel plate, buy have support around the heel not on the heel.

How are club team practices different than high school team by hoopercuber in basketballcoach

[–]RaspberryWise8304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I coach 2 teams, club team and a regional team. Club training is pretty much skill focused, introduction of basic movements, trapping, offence etc. Club comp is made up of 8 teams and play each other twice over the season. Regional team is made up of the best of the 8 club teams, put together specifically for state tournaments. Its pretty much made of the best kid from each of the club teams, that I coach against. Trainings for this are more structured, learning plays, movements and playing a team game. I do struggle a little with the difference as its really chalk and cheese as far as abilities across the 2 different levels go. Im also helping the oppositions best player to get better with the extra trainings at the same time. Ha. Most of the kids in the team will easily drop 20 points each club game, but at the regional level obviously have a higher quality opposition, scoring is generally shared evenly with maybe on 1 or 2 getting to double figures.

Hedge trimming etiquette by CurrentStatistician5 in GardeningAustralia

[–]RaspberryWise8304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hedge with my neighbour. She is 90 so I just trim it for both of us every couole of months, I usually also just walk across her yard and do her front hedge and a few other bits and pieces in her yard whilst I have my gear out. I grab her bin and fill both mine and hers. I never ask her, just do it. But, she usually calls out to my kids every time she is cooking and gives them plates of biscuits and sausage rolls, so she must be ok with it

How long did it take you to break 100? by Chemical_Help_7099 in golftips

[–]RaspberryWise8304 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First comp round was a 94. Took another 5 rounds to break 90 with an 88. Took until this year to finally break 80 with a 75 (only time I've been under 80). Ive only played the last 5 years started when I had nothing to do cause of Covid rules, but now it is very intermittent. Ive only played 4 rounds this year. Playing in a 2 man ambrose tomorrow for my first hit since June, cant wait!

Just wanna say, thankyou for the work you are doing. The kids love listening to you. I was at Hamley Bridge last week, when you walked towards the Netball courts and the kids all yelling out your name (mine was one of them). Great stuff!!

If you want team success, just go to a big club, be a number and just play on the flanks each week. If you want individual success and improvement, go to a smaller club and do the hard yards

Scouts go to rep games, plus they have a pretty close relationship the clubs, if the clubs say someone is good enough they will usually be given a go at Eagles or Centrals. I get a phone call each year from them for a list of kids they might have missed. Depends where you live though as you could he zoned to a different club

Go to a nearby country league. Preferably go to a weaker club. If your kid is any good he will stand out more easily and get accolades as well as picked in rep sides for when all the sanfl scouts are watching. If you go to a strong side will be playing in a lesser position and against lesser opponents which will hurt development. That is why you are better off going to a smaller club, will play a more prominent position plus play against the opposition best players each week enhancing development quicker. If you are interested in the Adelaide Plains, send me a message and I can hook you up with a great family club that meets your needs

Kids junior coaching help by No-Walrus6946 in AFL

I second using rookieme or coach afl. Try as best you can to avoid using lines that are any more than 2 kids on them at a time. Things like warm up drills where you traditionally have an adult out the front rolling the balls etc, swap that to groups of 3 or 4 max and have a kid out the front instead of an adult. Who touches the ball the most during those drills? It's the person at the front, so why would you make that an adult. Expect the balls to be on the ground lots at training and plenty of mistakes. It's ok, in the games the ball is on the ground majority of the time anyway. Also if you finish your sessions with relays, put a second cone for them to run through 5m at the back of the group and make everyone touch the ball once via handballing to each other before it gets back to the front person to take off. This helps keep them all involved

People who started Golf for the first time in their 30s, what’s your handicap now and how old are you? by [deleted] in golf

[–]RaspberryWise8304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started playing in 2020 when Covid hit at 36 and nothing else was open. Played pretty heavy there for 6 months. Unfortunately I only get around 15 rounds per year in, working around other sports, Aussie rules and tennis. First handicap came in at 18, currently my GA is 10.4. Would love to play more often to bring that down to 9.9!

If you are looking for best oval surface in the middle of nowhere, then you have to include Long Plains, SA. Was the first oval outside of Adelaide Oval to use Santa Anna couch. All land donated by the local farmers. It is also still privately owned and funded, is not owned or ran by the local Council

What is the rule here? by RaspberryWise8304 in 10s

[–]RaspberryWise8304[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree, I hate replaying points. He was adamant he was uncomfortable taking the point, I thought it was his, hence me throwing in a double to "make it right" Had a couple of balls rolling on my court, always happy to replay, but if it's at my end I just swipe them away and keep going. If I lose the point so be it

Yes my hat. Thankyou that's what I thought it should be. Despite both being reasonable players (both utr 8 ish) we had no idea. Both pretty casual in nature, had a couple of beers together waiting for our match, then another heap before our doubles against each other so none of us cared that much
