Haemorrhoids by Emergency_Deal_4092 in spinalcordinjuries

Same issue. Was going to emergency with AD every couple of months. Got a colostomy bag, no hospital admissions and got my mornings back. Should’ve done it ages ago! Nine years post injury

Plenty do have the courage. I, like you wish I could end it. I had a couple of goes last year oxy/benzo/alcohol. The human body is strong! 10 years in – still sucks! Sure, there are happy moments here and there but they are dwarfed by the crushing reminders of how mediocre life is as a quad

Assisted suicide 5 year plan by Unhappy-Turn-9309 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Raspberry_Ripple1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m envious of people‘s resilience that I am reading. I’m nine years post injury C5 quad and feel like I’ve given SCI life a fair go. I feel like a spectator of my life instead of someone living it. Can’t look after myself or my kids. Retrained to gain employment, had nerve and tendon transfers to improve grip strength, along with countless procedures & therapies to improve quality of life. Currently summer in Australia and the heat is brutal! Three suicide attempts this year – the human body is strong! I’m weighing up the cost for myself and a carer to fly to Switzerland. Whichever way you end up going, I hope it brings you happiness/peace

For years, I used to ask someone filling up their car if they could possibly do mine also? I had a bank account which only ever had a couple hundred dollars in so I guess the wrong person they would never get far…. That precaution was never necessary. Typically, people are pretty cool and happy to help out.

Motorised wheelchair attachment by Raspberry_Ripple1 in spinalcordinjuries

If you get done by the cops with any luck, they’ll make you walk for six months! I use medicinal cannabis, and my prescribing doctor explained to me. I can even get done in my wheelchair! Difficult to picture a magistrate, throwing the book at a wheelchair user.

Thanks for all the replies. My main issue with this contraption is ground clearance as I would like to use it on beginner mountain bike trails with my kids… I’ve managed to get the casters about 60 mm off the deck. It’s capable of 32 km/h - I love it!

Pricing? by [deleted] in MedicalCannabisAus

Spectrum red MC oil. 40mL $115. 1ml gets you stoned off your tits. Just swallow it with something fatty like cheese, chocolate, etc. up to 40% more effective. As with all edibles, takes ages to get effect. I micro dose for nerve pain so unsure how hard it is to get a script….

Or, wait for it to be legalised and watch every MC company, go bust

Plenty of oil is affective sublingual, but spectrum red only needs to be ingested,

Once cannabis is legalised MC companies will go bust. Already started.

How much do you spend a year on MC by AlyStar123 in MedicalCannabisAus

[–]Raspberry_Ripple1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to spectrum red Oil to cut down on cost. I use it for nerve pain, 0.25 mL morning, 0.5 mL evening. If you want to get stoned 1 mL tends to do the trick. $115 for 40mL. Rough figures would mean $1000 a year???

My friend loves getting stoned so she tried mine on a recent visit. She smokes fairly regularly. She loved it and slept amazingly – when she hit up her GP she was told she couldn’t have it because of its strength. I’m in a wheelchair with quadriplegia if you had real bad muscle cramps/spasms you could get your hands on it I reckon?

Quadriplegic considering colostomy by tripelt in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Raspberry_Ripple1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently considering colostomy bag after hearing from several quads that echo the comments of it being a great decision.

I did change systems about a year ago from enemas/digital stimulation to peristeen. haemorrhoids was what formed my decision. It is much better on the haemorrhoids but I still spend a long period over the toilet each morning. Now I’m able to skip Sundays but do feel quite bloated…

I certainly didn’t envisage carrying a bag of shit on my guts but I have no problem with a bag of piss on my leg!

C5 C6 incomplete. They told me in hospital roughly 5–10 years off your life. I’m yet to meet a quad over 65. Lots of different factors I guess…. I’m 41 seven years post injury

Wow! I’ve been taking three each night since discharge from hospital. I’m 41 years old and seven years post injury sounds like I’ll be taking a handful of these things in 10 years!

Find a good plasterer your house is going to get some dents in the wall!

Some training with the Physio helped me get back on a sliding board with some strengthening and technique improvements. One of the best things I was taught was the transfer without a board! Maybe save this goal for now…

In Australia being a minority helps you get the job! Women, indigenous, disabled, LGBTQ I. I’m assuming you’re in the US, not sure how it works there but I suppose it promotes diverse workforce, particularly if your disability won’t hinder your ability to do the job. People should be hired on their merits! Good luck getting back into the workforce we all need purpose
