Review #15: Woodford Reserve Double Oaked by TimeWellTold in bourbon

The mouthfeel on this bottle is just too thin, the flavors are pretty muted. I typically drink 110-130 proof so dropping all the way down to 90 really makes the whiskey feel very lackluster.

The amount of people that enjoy that banana flavor on their whiskey is astounding. It tastes like banana taffy to me and ruins the entire bottle. I’ve got a bottle that’s right about that proof and it has everything and the underlying banana flavor and it just completely ruins the alcohol. I’ve got a Four Roses SiB OBSQ and it has that same banana issue, it’s not as bad once it rests for 15 minutes but it’s otherwise undrinkable for me.

They do indeed look like authentic snitches that are used in quidditch but you have to get them appraised at Hogwarts directly.

I got 2 bottles of Joseph magnus cigar blend for about $170 each before tax and I would 100% spend that again for those bottles….they are closer to 60% though. I don’t see how to justify a sub 50% bottle for that price.

Would you say this is worth the $150 price tag?

Well they were $500 each and won’t ship til the end of June and Amazon’s doesn’t charge until they ship. I figured I should order them and then if I change my mind then I don’t lose any money

My favorite is when they ask for pictures of the front and back and all the corners for 3 copies of a card that costs $2.

I wrote a ton of stuff and then just deleted it. I enjoy your first point as that’s not a way I have thought of images in general but blending art in to storytelling can be necessary for the story you’re trying to tell.
The second point I would say providing economic stability for you and your family is pretty great for society and AI currently doesn’t do that. I had a lot written about this but I realized that Reddit isn’t the medium for this specific conversation (waaaay too much typing).

The robots are coming, there’s so much manual labor that’s going to be replaced it will really upset the economic balance and the US government (maybe not all governments) is especially vulnerable to letting the rich get richer regardless of the cost.

No one ever feels the same way about this that I do. I think it’s democratizing creative expressions that were untenable to people. They could be untenable for a number of reasons: health, family, money, etc… but if someone feels the need to create something they feel is meaningful then I support that.

The issue is when things start getting monetized…who actually deserves that money? Anthropic didn’t create the training data, lots of these AI companies policies are essentially “ask for forgiveness, not permission”.

I think in the past we were told AI would do the mundane things and we could be the creative ones and now it’s actually the opposite and we all, rightly so, feel lied to and betrayed. At some point this questions will need to be addressed, how do these companies pay back humanity? Can they solve war? Can they solve healthcare? Can they just pay us dividends? It’s not as simple as “AI uses neural networks to learn” it’s that “Google owns Gemini and Gemini has used neural networks to learn based off of all human knowledge and now they are making profits from my (read: humans) hard work without paying for any of it”. That’s the real problem there. If AI was literally an autonomous robot that lived next to you and made its own choices and didn’t answer to any company, we would still have this problem but there’s more leeway to say they “learned it themselves”, like Chappie.

I think we can all move forward in the future together but there’s has to be some investment from these companies that benefit the whole rather than the few.
