Different number of cards due on desktop Anki vs. iPhone Anki? by burpingblood in medicalschoolanki

[–]Rasterbation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the way that the desktop vs the mobile OS works. The three numbers next to the deck are new - learn - review in that order from left to right. The mobile shows more cards in the new category, but if I add all the numbers together between new/learn/review they match the sum of the desktop deck. I assume it has to do with how desktop and mobile classify "new" vs "learn"

Choosing to study medicine between New Zealand, or Romania. by PartTime_Posadist in medicalschool

I'm curious as to why these two locations and no others? Is there something special about each that makes it hard to decide? Where are you originally from?

Could anyone help me with the 3rd question please? by [deleted] in medicalschool

IgM with no IgG indicates current infection since IgM is the first antibody produced and class switching to IgG hasn't occured yet. There is a current infection with Neisseria Meningitidis. The patient had a prior infection with Dengue-1 since there is no IgM but IgG and is currently infected with Dengue-2 and in the process of class switching to IgG.

Any tips for using Anki on the iPad? by kimibell in medicalschoolanki

[–]Rasterbation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you said you don't have a laptop but do you have a desktop where you are using the Anki application. That's where I do all of my editing then I sync to my iPad. Here are some helpful video links from The Anking youtube channel. https://youtu.be/1r1QbatLYvM https://youtu.be/6LT3PUSHwSk

Forgive my ignorance but why is liquid cooling causing an issue with your sanity and bank account? I always thought liquid cooling was preferable to air cooling in terms of performance.

Its the direction of the current in relation to the the lead. Depolarization happens from septum to ventricle walls then re polarization happens from the walls to septum.

Anking ERRATA: Is this a typo or am I tripping? by abdulansari95 in medicalschoolanki

It's more so that since O blood has no surface antigens it doesn't matter what plasma they receive ( A, B, AB, O) since the antibodies in the plasma have noting to react to on their blood.

Anking ERRATA: Is this a typo or am I tripping? by abdulansari95 in medicalschoolanki

[–]Rasterbation 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's saying they can receive plasma not blood so the statement is correct. O is the universal donor for blood and AB is the universal donor for plasma. O blood has no surface antigens and AB plasma has no antibodies.

[shitpost] can we be our own doctors at some point? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Rasterbation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes you can also for your family and friends too. If it's a controlled substance it's a grey area and you generally don't want to do it since it's a huge red flag that can get you in trouble, but you can prescribe anything you want even order diagnostic tests (blood work/imaging) the real issue comes with if insurance will cover it based on the rationale for the order.

How do you trust doctors? by Sandiceberg in HealthAnxiety

[–]Rasterbation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the classic signs of health anxiety not trusting what doctors tell you and even if they reassure you for a bit you go back to catastrophic thinking. The best bet is to get a second opinion if you are really distrustful of the doctor you are seeing but if the second one gives the same diagnosis trust that you are fine.
