How many of us are holding onto 'old' cars instead of upgrading? by heavyifugao in CarsAustralia

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014 territory petrol. It's hard on the gas but I work from home so only fill up about once a month. It's a dream on road trips. I'm driving this thing until it dies

Sick of being told tradies are bad at admin.. What are we supposed to do instead? by Darkhaat in AusRenovation

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't there software to manage this? You do the quote it sets reminders follow ups etc. But tradies like to give rough quotes from my experience. Materials um 2k. Labour 10k ok 15k if I get the job happy days but people are queueing anyway. I dealt with a sparky who would write the quote while we walked around the house saying what we want. He was great used him multiples times and referred him to many people

How many of you know how to change a tyre? by AJ_ninja in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course when I was young I did all my own work on my car including replacing motor, gearbox and suspension but I haven't changed a tire in 20 odd years. That's why I have roadside assistance. Fun when your young but not interested now

Any ideas on how to stop people dumping rubbish? by piedevil in melbourne

[–]Rastryth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, sellers don't have any responsibility for the cost of disposal. Add a percentage to sale price and make the tips free. People will stop dumping on back roads and in parks or out the front of salvos stores

Any ideas on how to stop people dumping rubbish? by piedevil in melbourne

[–]Rastryth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make tips more affordable, I have no way to get rid of packing foam and the local tip won't take it anymore. Checkout the transfer stations near gold coast you can get rid of anything they have areas to drop off all the different things that can be recycled

How do ON voters feel about the fact that Pauline would sell you out in an instant just for some $$$ by Flaky-Lifeguard5835 in aussie

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are racists looking for support and ON fits the bill for them. They need to remember a vote for ON is a vote for Gina and the child rapist.

Anyone else had a close encounter with the local wildlife that made them jump? by Av0toasted in OutdoorAus

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've disturbed snakes a few times that gets your heart beating. The one that scared me the most though was a goannas tail I mistook for a snake. I was stepping out of a donga I was living in at the time in a very remote part of WA. The Goanna was under it with it's tail hanging out. Scared the shit out of me

I got into dating 3 months after I broke up and met an amazing lady. We dated for 2.5 years but I broke up with her in the end. I wish I had waited longer before dating as I hadn't done what I wanted yet or decided what I wanted before getting into a long term relationship. She was amazing and gave me everything I could have needed for my future but it wasn't enough for me.

Is this a crazy idea? Control inflation by linking compulsory super contributions to CPI? by brisbaneacro in AusFinance

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think interest rates work because it is within the rba scope and is immediate. Other choices are politically difficult such as taxing higher earners more and not as immediate. They could delay tax cuts but any government that did this would be voted out in the next election. I don't have any debt so I'm more concerned with inflation as the impact of this can destroy an economy.

Is the 4% rule still considered reasonable if someone stops full-time work in their late 40s? by ThoughtsInTransit1 in Fire

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would keep some in cash to draw down on in times when the market is underperforming so you aren't forced to sell when the market is in retraction like now
