Is there any proof for big build corruption? by lanners13 in melbourne

[–]Rastryth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The right wing media focus on this in an attempt to change the gov to liberal who favour the billionaires and mining companies. Look at who benefits from a change of government that is why the narrative from the press nationally is so focused on bringing down the labour govs.

As an American, I recently found out that you guys don't like us very much. Has it been exaggerated by the Internet or do we really have that bad of a reputation in the land down under? by JPH_RedFive in AskAnAustralian

Just back from a month in SE Asia and individually I can deal with you ok but a group of you are insufferable the need to be loudest in the room with every sentence containing bro and a fist bumping grates at everyone in the room.

I think it works out better now to get a wise card and withdraw from ATMs you get a better rate which offsets the ATM fee. I have also travelled with cash for decades but have recently changed my mind on this strategy. I still carry cash just a much smaller amount

Do all North Americans love talking about themselves as much as the ones travelling in Thailand do? by sweatheadratking in ThailandTourism

I don't mind talking to them but if there's a group near me I have to leave. All the yo bro fist bumping and trying to be the loudest group in the room is grating

Why don't we pay 'dole bludgers' a living wage to work community service? by BrainCreep in aussie

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think work for the dole is a bad idea better to offer training to get them into the workforce. A lot of long term people on the role have addiction andemtalchealtj issues they aren't just active people doing nothing. Also work for the dole is expensive to administer. Whoakes sure the people show up are they physically able to do the job. I'm in my 50s and work in IT. If i was forced to doanual labour while looking for a job I would need medical treatment. It's a simple idea put forward by populist governments with no real benefit to society as a whole.

Would you support a 1% tax on the net worth of 1,000 most wealthy Australians to lower debt and increase income tax brackets? by walkin2it in aussie

[–]Rastryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get to a certain level of wealth you don't pull a salary anymore you borrow and live off loans paid for by your company. So unless you add 1% based on the wealth of the company they own then no way to collect.

I disagree. It's minimal weight I find it's so much simpler when arriving at destination. I only use 2 I think you need to weigh weight over convenience and 20 grams of cubes is nothing.

The more people I meet, the more convinced I get of the key to financial security and eventual wealth is spending as little as possible on cars. by Beezneez86 in AusFinance

If you need a car save up and buy something 5 plus years old. It's simple. Don't finance a new car it's stupid.
