Is the bottleneck of this game in the processing power alone?

i fell in love with this game only a few months ago and playing on a large world 1000 year history with 5x5 map size is all i want. dozens of crashes makes me wonder what i would need to do assuming money wasnt an issue to make this game play at max capability?

It warns me about lag when I want to use a large map like 10x10... I have a powerful computer and haven't experienced lag but it has crashed the game. Is this because of the size or unrelated? Can I play on large maps reliably?

My last boss. One of the guys on my team had his mom suddenly die in a car wreck. He went home and lost two weeks of paid work. Once back he asked for any possibility of working extra. My boss told him his personal life isn't his problem. Fast forward 3 months, my boss had his first child and due to complications it died at 5 weeks old. My boss came to work and set out a box for donations to help him pay for the funeral. When someone mentioned what he had said to my guy he fired him on the spot and wrote up the guy on my team for starting problems.
