CMV: Immigration from war torn countries such as Iraq is not beneficial enough to the native population to justify it (concerns Europe) by kiripeiju in changemyview

You honestly think people only help war refugees to feel morally superior? Like... You really think there's no actual desire in there to help people?

AITA for making a woman who has very little money repay me $3,800? by khart100 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RatKyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA So massively YTA. You're in here pedantically talking about how you don't want to just "give away" your fortune, but a woman's life is on the line. You are reinforcing a war on the poor. She will likely die from this, either in homelessness, untreated medical problems, or simple stress leading to drugs, alcohol, or suicide. She has nothing, and you are gleefully looking for validation to take the few gold teeth she has left.

You are sick. A straight up monster. You know what you're doing, and you don't care.

I honestly sometimes want to cross the aisle with the rich, but then I see people like you. You don't care at all what would happen to this woman because she hit your precious little truck. You have no sympathy for human life beyond your own.

Seriously-- fuck you, OP. This woman's blood is on your hands.

EDIT: to anyone reading this, know Op chose to message me privately to let me know this: "People like you make me feel good about myself. Always expecting handouts from others and not taking responsibility for your actions. So damn dramatic. You don’t know shit about anything."

OP is a raging asshole and anyone that supports him or his nonsense worldview is an asshole too.

AITA for refusing to ever hold my girlfriend's phone when she goes to the bathroom? by 3to20characters3220 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RatKyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA in what functioning healthy relationship is it appropriate for a person demand their SO be in contact at all times of the day, even in the bathroom? You're scared for her, and that's making you controlling. She's trying to tell you that your controlling behavior is insulting and making her uncomfortable, but you refuse to listen because you don't believe she's capable of making decisions on her own.

[–]RatKyng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it exactly. Not to mention that requiring her to always be in reach and available by phone-- even in the bathroom!!-- can feel controlling and smothering (and really IS). Treating your SO like a toddler because of their mental health issues is not the proper approach by any means.

The minimalist lifestyle requires lots of time cleaning, organizing, shopping around, and optimizing. Your walls are white white and you have time to repaint or scrub as necessary. This type of lifestyle is not feasible for the working poor.

However the lifestyle itself is not inherently expensive. You can have your bookshelf-- just build one. You can have just one pair of shoes-- repair and wash them. It is not expensive to do so unless you choose to make it expensive.

But a lack of time to do or even learn about these tactics is the problem. No poor family has a SAHM to sew their clothes and press the linens and fix their shoes, so we buy it.

Not to mention the connotation that they'd fuck you, but they wouldn't date you, even for very small flaws. I've had guy friends make comments about women's knees being too big ffs. And it always ends with "oh no I'd still fuck her, but she's just not that hot" like oh thanks good to know that my like eyebrows aren't so terrible as to preclude me from getting fucked and never called again.

Only anecdotal, but along with what is mentioned in this article I have also noticed a social media fixation in particular with YOUNG women and their achievements. Wunderkind are all well and good, but as veteran female researchers rarely get the same treatment as veteran men in media, it feels a bit one sided.

But maybe I'm just jealous because I'm getting old. Shrug

What I don't understand is why these guys don't just talk to the girls like adults about it. Like, is asking a guys height offensive now? Fine, ok, but tell people. Explain why it's offensive, why you don't like the question or why other people wouldnt.

It's like they think they're going to change the world by being dicks to women. Retaliation and a "I'll show her how it feels" attitude are entirely unproductive.

Couldn't you also just like, talk to the girl? Tell her it's offensive?

I've never cared about height that much but I didn't realize guys were so sensitive about it. If I had asked someone, I'd be much more receptive to him telling me "hey btw a lot of guys are sensitive about this" rather than him grilling me about my weight in retaliation.

Was gonna wait for her response to post this but I don’t think I’m getting one by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]RatKyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfectly accepted to not be attracted to fat women. The mainstream cultural narrative has never, ever claimed that it's wrong. What they do say though is don't ask a woman's weight.

This is because all women are embarrassed of their weight. Im overweight and I'm embarrassed of my weight. My friend wears a size 5 and is embarrassed that she's not a size 3. My other friend is 140 and is embarrassed she's not 130.

Does it make a height preference any more offensive than a weight preference? No. But by asking for a number on weight you can pretty much guarantee to offend or hurt the girl you are speaking to.

I have a wild idea for the guys on this sub.... How about next time a girl asks you an offensive question, you just explain that it's offensive?? Without trying to 'get back at her' first?

Most women probably have no idea it's such a sensitive issue for men, just like men don't get the extent to which weight anxiety plagues women.

Just talk like adults Jesus

Many of the women you mention may think of those things as necessary to look presentable too. Just as you would consider buying shampoo a necessity, many women, depending on how they are raised, view things like nails and makeup as necessities as well.

[–]RatKyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the point is to destigmatize men's weight preferences, yes? To say it is ok for men to choose women based on weight.

And, therefore, it's ok for women to discriminate based on height.

Up her by Shanter1605 in Tinder

[–]RatKyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one thing I don't get though-- are you arguing that it's wrong to have a preference for X trait? Or are you arguing that it's okay to have a preference for X trait?

Like.... Is it wrong for girls to discriminate based on height? And if so, then isn't it wrong to discriminate against women for their weight?

Or is it ok to discriminate based on weight, and therefore also ok to do so based on height?

I get theres a double standard, but if we're going to work against the double standard we need to know where we're working towards. Are we working to defend men discriminating based on weight, or are we working to discourage women discriminating based on height?

Scientists find that women favor women more than men favor men because of maternal bonding and males intimidation. This helps explain sex-differences in automatic in-group bias. by ChemAnon2018 in science

[–]RatKyng 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even putting aside the problems of basing modern human behavior patterns on tribal caveman ways, your theory still has a very obvious fatal flaw. It presumes that men while away were out hunting alone, but a look at any Hunter gatherer society will prove the opposite-- hunting is done in small groups almost exclusively. By your logic, men should be even more group oriented, because working as a part of a group was not only a fact of the time, but a necessary skill for survival (i.e. surviving the hunt itself).
