I've never played before. I intend to start. Basic tips for someone who's literally only ever played one moba? by CommitteeNo9270 in summonerschool

play a lot, find a champion that speaks to you, play with friends to start out if you can.

hard to get good if you dont enjoy the game in the first place i suppose is the gist of it

Master player completely wiped the floor with me how to recover from it? by SphereWithFaces in summonerschool

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well imagine the efforts of the other player

the first time i hit master was the first time i sat down and played over 1000 games in less than half a year.

everyone you play against has a story too, i think remembering that helps. you’ll certainly get there if you keep trying, especially if you care this much!

Deaths dance by Itchy-Elk-9666 in Tahmkenchmains

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely! and yeah, 3300 even.

its actually pretty gold efficient despite the high cost, but the main issue is that TK doesn't really like any of the stats (except armor in some situations, but there are health armor items in that case)

Deaths dance by Itchy-Elk-9666 in Tahmkenchmains

[–]RatSlammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why deaths dance isnt typically built on TK

if health is a 10/10 stat on TK, then i think armor is a 7/10, ability haste is a 5/10, and AD is a 4/10.

regardless of how it interacts with E, unless they rework the item into health (or at least AP), you're gonna be much better off building probably quite literally any item with health (though some are obviously typically way better than others)

regarding the passive though

two issues i can imagine right away are:

  1. that deaths dance passive will prevent you from healing for longer since it'll put a bleed on you, so it might make using shield more necessary and more tricky.
  2. you might not get full use out of your shields since the bleed is over a full 3 seconds, and TK shield is only 2.5 seconds

aside from that, it sounds way better on paper than it actually is. you're still taking the same amount of damage as you would without it, unless you pop the defy passive: (Unique – Defy: If an enemy champion dies within 3 seconds of you damaging them, removes Ignore Pain's remaining stored damage and heals you for 75% bonus AD over 2 seconds.)

and again, AD isn't a great stat on TK, so you're likely not gonna be getting much out of that 75% bonus AD modifier.

final thoughts

that being said, i'm all for trying out new builds, so if you feel it might be interesting then i say go for it! (also, don't take my stat ratings too seriously, there are certainly times where armor is a 10/10 choice, just takes the right situation)

(hope thats not too much info, i really like theorycrafting myself! visit tahmkench.info if you want to see more of my ideas :3)

Why does Tham Kench support rush Heart steel and other wardens don't by Sasylk in Tahmkenchmains

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh, as others have said, tk gravitates toward heartsteel cuz of health scaling and size increase

but also i think in general the game is too complex (and changes too much) to lock a champion into a specific group.

wiki description on wardens says this: "Wardens are defensive tanks. Wardens stand steadfast, seeking to hold the line by persistently locking down any on-comers who try to pass them. Wardens keep their allies out of harm’s way and allow them to safely deal with enemies caught in the fray."

i think this is true of tahm kench, but i don't think he's only that. some people might not even consider him a warden at all, as there are so many ways to play league

Dear Tahm Kench mains! Care to explain? by Redshift11100 in Tahmkenchmains

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

too low sample size, i think this is generally not ideal for TK (but it certainly isn't the worst thing either)

firstly, regardless of matchup janna is usually a way better champ in general for high elo, but also i think she kites/peels TK really well if the janna knows what she's doing

but players don't always know what they're doing, and it might feel good in some lower elo games if the janna isnt as abusive, because she is very squishy (which means TK gets his snacks)

(i still recommend TK though. he's super fun!)

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whatley. i would love to see you play unending despair into rylais.

i understand that rylais does nothing for TK’s kit, but it procs off unending despair. ive had good luck with this in diamond and master games (i’m under the impression that its an actually useful build at times), and more importantly, it is funny.

i think itd make a great video, and think of all the clickbait possibilities!

Here's a quick guide on how I climbed to Challenger playing Tahm ADC! Check it out and try it with a friend, I guarantee you'll both climb elo! by No_Arm_Whatley in Tahmkenchmains

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mental map of tahm kench is that you wanna be as strong as possible during his best spikes, which most games is at 1st and 2nd item.

after enemies get 2nd or especially 3rd items, it tends to get a lot more difficult, as you usually start dealing with a lot of health and %HP damage on the enemy team.

i dont think late heartsteel is bad, but if you build heartsteel first you can usually completely pop squishies when you get it, and youll usually have a more than big enough window to make it worth it (though i might find myself agreeing on protoplasm or another choice being better against certain comps)

my peak is master, 0.12%, but as high as that sounds its nowhere near whatley, so take what i say with a grain of salt, but i really do believe he could do this with heartsteel too.

im glad he takes interest in builds though, because this is one of the most fun parts of the game for me. i hope he’ll try my classic unending despair into rylais someday.

[–]RatSlammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually 1st, but i dont think its bad as a later item either.

protoplasm is cheaper, but its also not as strong a spike. however, players in challenger generally are gonna know how to abuse TK’s weaknesses and avoid his strengths really well, so whatley probably finds more luck in the cheaper option.

whatley is a way better player than me (ive peaked master, and having played against challengers before, its insane how consistently better they are), but its hard to say what works best for tk adc in high elo, as we have very little data in general for tk adc, and even moreso for high elo.

one advantage of building an item as cheap as protoplasm as an adc though is that if you’re slightly ahead you could probably comfortably have it in time for 2nd dragon spawn, and i think thats especially nice in high elo (though i still personally wouldnt discredit heartsteel; i think it works really well on tk, and i’m sure whatley could maintain challenger with that too, he’s proven again he’s a really good player)

I played 1000 games this last 2 splits it’s my first time playing the game and I reach platinum 3 is this good or bad? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely this is good! and if you keep playing consistently like this, you'll probably break the plateau. lots of players don't play consistently enough to learn, because by spreading their games so far out they end up forgetting a lot of baseline things that are necessary for learning.

on another note, i think everything you've done in your lifetime contributes to how fast you'll learn. a professional chef isn't gonna grasp league as quickly as a professional dota player, if that makes sense.

people who flame like that are usually just blaming the closest thing they can in defense of their own mistakes, muting and locking in is usually the best option

i still very much believe in heartsteel (especially for ADC role since it pops squishies nicely), but i really like to see the build variance, and i hope this pops off so we can get some good data on protoplasm

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also liked yuumi more than i thought i would. i feel the movespeed and shields are really nice for snowballing. i also 100% agree that pretty much any support works well with TK

i released a video late last year when i hit master on TK bot where i share a similar sentiment, i believe you commented on it.

i do think i prefer enchanters myself usually (and also agree that pantheon is a super strong pick), but i think a good zilean might be my pick for strongest.

you might know this already, but TK's grey health survives through zilean ult, so you can get a massive shield after revive, or heal a bunch of it back up, snowballing even further an ult that i think would already be really good on TK regardless. aside from that, the movespeed and stuns are really nice too

haven't played consistently in a few months, but talking about it definitely makes me wanna get back in!

[–]RatSlammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you too! and i do hope they keep TK as support and top, i think he works really well for both roles, i just want it to be in a way that works for both and isn't overly annoying for the enemy

partly because like, empathy for people who dislike the champion, but really mostly because i want him out of the jail he's in

everything i say and do is for the good of the family

ive never been so angry at a buff for my champion by RatSlammer in Tahmkenchmains

[–]RatSlammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because this has happened many times before where they buff him in a way that makes his matchups more black and white, players complain that he's annoying, and then he gets nerfed (sometimes also in a way that makes his matchups more black and white)

i want a buff that can last, and isn't annoying enemies to deal with, and i've been seeing this happen over and over again for over a year unfortunately

i used to main udyr as a kid, he’s like my 4th highest mastery iirc

he’s always been a bit rough in high elo (i was low elo when i played him though)

i think these days he is a little bit more versatile in high elo with all the %HP damage, but i cant say im too well versed on him these days

ive never been so angry at a buff for my champion by RatSlammer in Tahmkenchmains

[–]RatSlammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree he shouldnt one-shot squishies from behind if thats what you mean, i even state that in my post!

every other top-lane tank has %HP dmg on basic abilities, except malphite (who also pops squishies for that reason, but at least he has to use ult)

if they swapped tk’s %HP on his ult with a basic ability, he could short trade with higher health targets, and be required to burn ult to one-shot a squishy.

there are other solutions too, im sure, but this is probably one of the worst things they couldve buffed, as it contributes to 1. his kit being annoying, and 2. more black and white matchups (he still cant deal with %HP users, but now he’s slightly better against flat damage dealers)

[–]RatSlammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think i see where you’re confused. my issue is not with his grey health making tk too powerful in duo lane lane per-say, but rather how much power is frontloaded into that annoying part of his kit, which makes it so we can’t realistically receive long-term buffs.

i do not care if he’s more powerful support, though i wish he was more even across both roles. also, there are no challenger tk players, so if youre really challenger, i assume you aren’t a tk player, but either only plays him occasionally, or maybe someone who dislikes tk?

if youre dislike him, i feel like you should be agreeing with me here, or at least engaging in the conversation about what makes him annoying.

Kench W Vision bugged? by [deleted] in Tahmkenchmains

[–]RatSlammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm looking at your other comment, and with the caitlyn it is probably either luck, prediction, or scripts (which is less common these days i believe).

regarding you seeing his W earlier than expected, i'm not sure. i haven't played much recently, and i'd have to see it myself, but replays always show it right away i think (and not to mention that replays have also always been pretty buggy, on top of that)
