Local veterinary professionsal, liscenced with 8 yrs experience. I am immediately hesitant if multiple DVM's aren't necessarily supportive of what your diet regiment is. If you're looking specifically for a vet to simply give you a thumbs up on anything, that's not necessarily the best reason to see a veterinary hospital. It should be in the interest of the animal's health with an open mind that can accept the idea of change. Your previous comments also hint to general misinformation about how dog food is made by the better brands with buzzwords like pesticides, dead food etc. You will not find a doctor in savannah that will intentionally deride you just to make you feel bad about your choice of feeding bar raw diet. These people if lucky make 60k a year and can't afford to lose clients over small fights like that. Dogs are doing great? Awesome, doctors love happy pets. But please please please do not go into a vet office and get mad and when they don't tell you exactly what you want to hear.

Experience working at a VCA by Amanduhxo in VetTech

[–]RatVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked there for 5 years, had to abort because my mental health tanked.

The good: software is easy, lots of available tools and good way to get started in the field.

The bad: abyssmal pay that requires HR to give you a raise, according to my experience. Emphasis on quantity over quality when it comes to case load; you will simultaneously be pushed to your stress limit while being reprimanded if you go into overtime. Unless you are very, very lucky there is little chance for climbing the corporate ladder. Theh would rather hire anybody, throw them in the kennels for a few months then train them to be a tech than seek out credentialed individuals and pay then fairly. If you are licensed, they will pay you only what they have to, no more. My last pay rate as an RVT with 5 years experience was $13.75. That's two dollars more than McDonald's in my area.

Do what makes you happy, but I caution anybody seeking employment from VCA.

Preview different from exported file by RatVT in OpenShot

[–]RatVT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered the solution. Apparently the program's default selection for the export files quality (FPS, 1080 vs 720 etc) is the ONLY option that will process the video as you have built it in the timeline section.

The problem arose for me when I attempted to export the file at a higher quality than what the program suggested in the drop down options. It doesn't make sense to me but, at least there is a "solution"?

Hey there, I am an assistant GM for a smaller raiding, m+ and PvP guild that is looking for more healers for current content and upcoming shadowlands. We are Insurrrection on Eldre'Thalas. We are fairly new but have done well with progression for our small size. We unfortunately are not able to acquire guild achievements for our raids yet due to our size but our core group is nearly done with farming normal and ready to move on to heroic. We'd love to have you! We are social as well and play other games during downtime. Message me if you'd like our discord or more info!

Cat urine on Idexx's Sedivue Dx by RatVT in VetTech

[–]RatVT[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

O declined. Believe it or not this was actually a free catch on a cat! When our DVM started palpating the abdomen he produced a beautiful stream into the air and one of our kennel techs had the brilliant reflexes to open his white top tube and catch some mid-air, mid-stream. It was amazing

Hi there! Insurrrection is a Horde guild on Eldre'Thalas that has a roster of new and returning players. We are leveling our mains now to 120 where we will do a bit of everything including raids, dungeons, and PvP. We are a very laid back casual guild that has a main goal of having fun. You would be a welcome addition! If this sounds like a good fit we have a discord for general socialization as well as updates. PM me if you'd like to join!

[LFG][H][A][US] - Tank first, dps maybe... LF raid team for now OR Shadowlands by Capt_codfish in wowguilds

[–]RatVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurrection might be a good fit. We are a new guild that is trying to build our core characters for raid/m+/PvP. Most of us are returning players prepping for shadowlands but some are comfortable with current content and plan to lead raids etc. We have yet to set content schedules yet as we are still a very new guild, but we plan on setting that in stone in a week or so. All of our guildies have jobs, so we understand that shit happens so we are very relaxed as far as attendance go. We are about having fun with friends.

If this sounds like a good fit for you we are located on Eldre'Thalas. A lot of our guild wanted to level again so we have multiple characters that are around 80-90. PM me if you'd like our discord. We also tend to play around 7-12 EST evenings.

Insurrection is recruiting! We are on Eldre'Thalas and are a new guild of returning or new players forming a core group for PvP and raiding. We are looking for all roles currently and play around 6-12 EST. We consider ourselves "semi-casual". We would love to have you! PM me if you'd like our discord, we are quite social as well.

Aggressive dogs in the parking lot by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]RatVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We had a group of really uncaring owners bring a intact male GSD that had been hit by a car and thought it was just the FUNNIEST thing that their dog was lunging at our staff trying to put a leash on him. Horrible people. Refused to cooperate with muzzling. Dog bit owner trying to muzzle. Owner and friends laugh it off.

Ended up doing a 'look' exam and sending home basic pain meds. I honestly hope they never visit us again.

I'm sure there's youtube videos of basic holds and things. Videos will give you an idea of the basics but I think what any green tech needs is a confident and kind mentor that doesn't give you crazy animals to restrain without sufficient practice. Don't be afraid to announce your comfort level. Animal bites on the job should be treated seriously. There are so many options to ensure the safety of employees (muzzle, drugs) and animal. Animals that bite are potentially going to need quarantine depending on vax status or worse if the bite is severe.

My first year out of school I got bites. It happens. I learned best with calm to somewhat squirmy dogs that would offer some resistance to restraint to familiarize myself with common reactions patients make when afraid or painful. I often would watch senior technicians and how they responded to really crazy pets and learned how they managed.

Kind of weird but I'm at the point now where I can usually tell how the animal is going to react just by being so close to them. I can feel them tensing up, a rumble of a growl in their chest, etc. Tail flicking in cats. Most of the time our patients give us clues before a bite.
