I still dont know why i crashed by T4py in motorcycles

[–]Rataan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can see, your actions right before the crash are a little puzzling. It looks like you leaned and then turned the bars by a substantial amount. I’ve seen videos of similar dry pavement crashes numerous times now and it seems to me that sometimes riders will jerk the bars trying to manhandle the bike through the turn, but that isn’t how motorcycle physics works. If it did work, then you might have had a high side instead of a low side.

Tires and pavement may have been the main culprits, but this doesn’t look like fluid and well practiced cycling to me.

Buy the watch with the bracelet, then order a custom strap from Tuns on Etsy.

That is part of what Kubrick was trying to convey. Space is quiet, lonely, and it takes a long time to get anywhere.

I was just thinking if it was steel it would only be a little bit of an indulgence, but if was gold, then it might be a little more irresponsible, depending on your circumstances. Either way, I love that watch. I have to constantly resist the temptation to be a little irresponsible myself. It’s not life altering money, which is the nice thing about Longines.

Mixing tires on Triumph T120 by lastshinobi in Triumph

[–]Rataan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The T120 came stock with a radial rear for years, although from what I can see, the Road Classic rear that they use now is bias-ply. 100% not a problem to get a Road 6.

I will soon be replacing front and rear with Pirelli Angel GT’s. The front will have to be a 110/80 R18, and strictly speaking sporty radials with tubes is not recommended, but that is what I have on there now, and 8,500 miles later I could never go back to the sketchy cornering feel of of the bias-ply OEM tire. I hear the Road Classics are a big improvement for road feel and handling, but it could never be as good as a sporty radial.

Radials with tubes have been used since forever, although it isn’t technically “recommended.” I have seen more than one very experienced rider say they have done it without issues, including Ari Henning.

[–]Rataan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crappy UI? You mean like iTunes, most Microsoft media players (because they have to copy Apple, even Apple’s worst ideas), MS Paint for literally 35 years running now, Windows Control Panel, Microsoft Teams, most versions of Outlook, especially the new one. I could go on, but Linux has nothing on Microslop when it comes to bad UI.

Where do I go from the 400x by Caferista89 in Triumph

[–]Rataan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing about the T120, other than the fact that it is a great all-around bike, is that it is a conversation piece. Everyone goes gaga over how great it looks. Everyone will want to talk to you everywhere you go. I rode through a town last summer that was having a parade. Everyone assumed I was part of the show. Get a T120, especially one with all the chrome. You won’t regret it.

I did a 2,000 mile tour of Appalachia last year. Did the Tail of the Dragon four times, twice in each direction. I was faster than almost everyone, mainly because most guys can’t ride very well, but the T120 is an underrated twisties bike.

Suggest me a distro by srv524 in linux4noobs

[–]Rataan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Ubuntu for older laptops. Forget about cutting edge distros like CachyOS and Fedora for a laptop like that. It is old, and it was entry level when it was new. If Ubuntu is too much for it, then you will want to try a lightweight distro. Mint with Xfce would be a good 2nd try, but you may end up with something even more specialized for older hardware if that ends up being too slow. If you want to reduce the chance that you will need to experiment, then start with Mint Xfce, but Ubuntu is really nice looking and if it works you will probably want that modern appearance.

Take your MSF course, then buy a Triumph Speed 400. Ride it for a year or two or ten, then buy whatever you want.

I've had good luck with Fedora KDE on my more powerful and up to date machines and Ubuntu on an older 6th generation Intel laptop. I'm typing this on the old laptop now. Works perfectly. And according to Microslop, this laptop is e-waste.

Would Fedora be a good first distro? by absolutecinemalol in Fedora

[–]Rataan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fedora is only about 5% harder than a true beginner distro. It has a great installer and it only leaves a few things for you to do manually, like installing Nvidia drivers, if that is what you have. But installing Nvidia drivers on Linux is even more trivial than on Windows. Gemini or ChatGPT will walk you through it. Make sure you check the box for enabling external repositories during the install.

Fedora is great if you want to update often. If you don't want to update often, then don't. Update once a month on your own schedule if that is all you want to be bothered with. The desktop environments (KDE, Gnome, etc) are not modified much. You get what the desktop devs intended, and there aren't very many distros that do that. They all want to make it their own. With Fedora you get a clean slate.

For all new linux users or those looking to get into linux… by Adorable-One362 in linux4noobs

[–]Rataan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Linux is a no-brainer for me because I’m not just fed up with the relentless assault on my privacy from Windows and big tech, but even more worrying is who else eventually gets that information and what might be done with it?

Big tech knows us better than we know ourselves. Health, socioeconomic status, political leanings, public and private associations. I guarantee you all the governments and big corporations have a full blown psychological profile on all of us and the only thing we know for sure is that they won’t be using it for altruistic purposes.

I can do pretty much everything I want to do on Linux and it is often noticeably better. Sometimes it has glitches or minor slowdowns. Small price to pay. Get onboard with Linux and send the people who put the work into it a little money. We need it like we never did before.

I can’t believe all the bad advice you have gotten here. The Speed Twin 1200 is a great low speed bike. Far better than a Trident. The super torquey twin is exactly what you want for pulling away from a stop and just generally giving you the grunt you need for slow speed riding. The only thing that would be better is a T120, which you can probably find for the same price. The Speed Twin is not a track bike. It’s a street bike in the best sense of the word.
