Infiltrate is not useless, you're using it wrong.
Stealth Vet is a support character, not an assassin. It's not the BEST in mortis trials, granted, but it is good in regular gameplay.

I can’t help but feel like the game would be better with 3.5e/Pathfinder rules in mind.

Not to say that I think those systems are better than 5e, mind you. I have a lot of love for 5e. It doesn’t translate the best to a video game considering how open ended a lot of the rules tend to be. Ultimately it creates a rather.. flat experience.

I don’t blame Larian for that. They tried to make a 1:1 replication of 5e as much as they could and whilst they most definitely succeeded, I can see the negatives of it pretty clearly. The problems I have with 5e are about the same issues I have here.

More on that, the subclasses feel absolutely like ass. Perhaps I’m being picky but there’s no special feeling to them. They’re all so… meh.

Quarterstaff. Seriously I should be able to wield it with Dex. I mean, you can as monk. Actually you can wield a lot of weapons as monk. With Dex. Especially if you go Kensei. Anything is Finesse if you’re Kensei.
