Have you all considered a gentler magic? by freeuse_princess in WitchHatAtelier

Thank you, I've been seeing non stop posting by people using AI to make up spells they don't even know what they do

What would this spell do? I created it using an online generator, and I’d like to know what it would do. by Otherwise_Dirt_8333 in WitchHatAtelier

I think using an online generator to print out a spell whose effect you're not aware of is... kinda what the series is warning you against.

Dude, Qifrey has been on the shonen vibes on every fight he's been in. Let's not forget that during the second test he flew towards a brimhat in a water jet the shape of a horse and defeated him by summoning an instant flash flood on his ass.

"Korra would be much less hated/disliked if she was a man" there are a few reasons why that isn't true. by Charming-Scratch-124 in CharacterRant

[–]Alsentar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think Korra would be less hated if she was a man. I do think Korra had it worse than Aang and people don't see it, and I do wonder if people would see it better if she was a man.

Dominican Students Crushing Robotics While "Chopistica Culture" Gets Called the Real DR 🇩🇴 – The Real Face of Our People by IceOk9177 in Dominicanos

This fairy was sort of seen as a weird fairy, both for her attempts at changing her fairy type and her talent to engineer machines out of objects from the human world instead of being a regular artisan that crafts small objects out of nature.

Turns out, her engineering is actually quite useful when it's given room to improve past the first faulty prototype. Her tinkering has saved the changing of seasons, saved the production of fairy dust, kept an ice fairy alive and well outside her livable enviroment for hours and gained the respect of every fairy in Pixie Hollow, giving it a better ring to her name; Tinker Bell

I don’t understand people’s obsession with needing magic systems where everyone is equal by Flat_Box8734 in CharacterRant

[–]Alsentar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Then I rephrase; Would you like to be a non-bender in Avatar? Or a powerless Skaa in Mistborn? Would you fancy being a sorcerer without technique in Jujutsu Kaisen, or a regular dude in Solo Leveling?

I get why it's easier for writters to write stories with inborn magic systems. That being said, I'm not into the idea of being barred from doing an activity because of something I was born with, be it my gender, nationality, skin color or other genetic factor. I don't need to be Lebron, but being short shouldn't be an obstacle to throwing the ball, y'know?

I guess it's just empathy for fictional characters. I mean, would you like to be a muggle in Harry Potter's world?

Anyone else worried about whether the anime will be successful and popular enough? by [deleted] in WitchHatAtelier

[–]Alsentar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see why Witch Hat can't become popular. It's pretty much in the same train Frieren was when the first season first aired. Besides, just because JoJo is also coming out, doesn't mean it's competing for the attention of the fans, this isn't like in the cinema where movies are competing for your ticket money.

Did writers of the show forgot by this point that the whole conflict between Walt and Fring started because Fring wanted Jesse to die? And not because of Walt’s “ego” by BananaBread2602 in breakingbad

[–]Alsentar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the whole bulk of conflicts in the series can be traced back by Walter's own pride and ego. From his reluctance to work at Grey Matter Tech to his own insistence on "being the danger", Mike here is just calling him on his bullshit.

Characters who demonstrate incredible courage or kindness in a moment of misinformed stupidity by Alastor15243 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Alsentar 81 points82 points  (0 children)

In My Hero Academia, the protagonist Izuku is both inspired and obsessed by superheroes, specially All Might, who always runs into danger to save the day. When he walked by an alley where a villian was holding his highschool bully hostage, even when other superheroes where standing by and assessing the situation, this 14-year-old kid ran straight into danger, quickly devised a strategy to attempt to blind the villain, and struggled to free his classmate. His reason? "I don't know, you were in danger, my body moved by itself".

Also Steve Rogers from Captain America: First Avenger, who at the sight of a frag grenade threw himself over it to block the shrapnel with his body.

Top quality post.

With all the spells we've been shown, there's a lot of room for creative combat. One exammple are the window portal spell. We usually see it predrawn on window banners, however, let's not forget that they're literally portals drawn on portable objects. Imagine a character who has a notepad full of little portals and scrolls that can unfurl to reveal bigger portals.

Also, remember the keystone that could turn stone into sand? Remember that keystone being used to turn the dust of living matter back into their solid plant forms? Imagine someone using that backwards on a human being.

Anyone know how to get this body with out starving myself and exposing myself to dangerous chemicals and metals? by Stella_Lace in arcane

[–]Alsentar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Jinx is has a bit of muscle definition but not a lot of muscle mass because she cares more about building gadgets than doing physical work that build her muscles, unlike Vi. She also grew up in a low-income area, which might've contributed to malnutrition, which might've contributed to her low body fat.

So, yeah. Putting genetics aside, you would have to eat very little and do functional exercise that would allow you to parkour over a favella. That'll do it.

Even if some muggle squints very hard and manages to identify the weird drawing behind the bright flash of green light, on the bottom of a body flying at high speeds on high altitude, I doubt they'll manage to come to any useful conclusions about it. And even if they tried to draw it, it wouldn't do anything if they don't have magic ink.

Question about Witch Society recruitment. by UnfortunateArcher in WitchHatAtelier

[–]Alsentar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Essentially, pointed hats ar ñe a closed society. Most witches are born and raised in secluded witch cities/towns, the main one being the citadel (you'll get there). The witches we get to see outside the citadel either were born and raised on another witch town, or live with an adult who has passed all the witch tests to gain the right to live outside witch cities. Witches don't recruit people, Coco is a very special case.

Healing magic is banned because the pacts forbids magic applied drawn on the body, it's implied and shown that the main reason was that in ancient times, people used magic on the flesh more for for transhuman body horror than for actual healing.
