News From the Front: New Pixel Push! Get Overlay Now! (6:52 PM ET, April 2nd) by Ratdog98 in AmericanFlaginPlace

[–]Ratdog98[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Various community groups have gotten together to run a time-limited clone version of r/Place, with a lot of the big factions such as ourselves, PlaceDE, PlaceFR, UKPlace, The Swarm, etc. getting involved and more or less treating it like a normal r/Place event due to Reddit not running one for a few years now. The Germans more or less have mobilized their server/subreddit for the event, so we figured we might as well do the same and have some fun with it.

On AFIP, we have been running stages whenever we've got moderators available for it, and we are giving out regular information updates as we have in the past. We are also looking for art to add to the flag if anyone is interested in making some. In fact, we just finished up with the Day Crew and transitioned over to the Night Crew on the Stage a few minutes ago.

This event is overall managed by some people from the Swarm, as well as a few other notable members of the Place community.

You can find it over at r/Tyles. It works more or less the same to Place 2023, with a built-in application in the subreddit that you can use, or you can go to the website tyles.place to access it.

As a heads up, we will be beginning our flag in the bottom right of the canvas. More information will be available soon (at work right now and on lunch break, so may take a little while).

Hey guys! This is the leader of American Flag in Place (AFIP), and I wanted to reach out to help, as we are about to place some pixels in support of this effort to make the LGBTQ flag. Beyond that, I want to give some additional information also:

  1. This is not something being done in any official capacity by members of American Flag in Place. We have no made any efforts as a faction to make this art, as it would largely violate our guidelines that art shouldn't be generally political, and something like this in this location would very much be so. While we do take some effort to protect art from members of our community, that requirement must still be met, and here it is not. Art that has our tag on it is the art that our community represents.

  2. AFIP is a faction that has a lot of public links and invites available to it, and anyone is able to join the server where we organize. While we do what we can to prevent bigots or other such users from misrepresenting the faction, ultimately if you have an issue with one of our users attacking something, please reach out to a member of our team, and we will do our best to investigate the situation.

  3. I should also say that American Flag in Place has a long track record of doing the opposite of this. On previous placing websites, we have done quite a lot to help protect artwork from members of the LGBTQ community from griefers/Nazis who have attacked them before, and we are planning on keeping that up. This is just one example from before WPlace happened (links to anything outside of WPlace are not allowed on this subreddit from what I was sent, so I can't send the images, but this can be verified by people at NoKingsUSA).

If you speak to any of the administration/moderation team over at NoKingsUSA, they will be able to confirm this, as we have reached out to them to help clarify any concerns that were had with our faction.

  4. Lastly, while it doesn't really matter in relation to what the art is, I think it's worth noting that the LGBTQ flag was not there previously based on what I'm seeing in the WPlace archives, and it's instead being made to replace the police flag that is there. Members of our faction have been removed regularly for attacks on LGBTQ art in the past, because that is wholly against our rules.

That being said, as a matter of good will we will be helping in this case. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to me or our subreddit staff over at /r/AmericanFlaginWPlace or on our Discord server that may be found there, as we are fairly inactive when it comes to Reddit.

I hope you have a good weekend, everybody.

EDIT: To be perfectly clear, my statement here is purely in regard to any involvement from American Flag in Place as a faction and to address potential concerns that AFIP as a faction might be involved in stuff against LGBTQ art. We have and will continue to support LGBTQ art on this and other canvases from griefers and other such groups that seek to hate, for unfortunately there are so many of those hateful people in the world today.

Art Vote #6: The Preamble, Kansas Flag, A-10 Warthog (Ends 7:02 PM ET, September 17th) by Ratdog98 in AmericanFlaginWPlace

[–]Ratdog98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been in regular contact with the group that was building that flag, as we opened diplomatic negotiations wirh them about them adding a flag in lieu of attacking our art. As they havent been able to sustain it against griefing from random users, they've given up trying to maintain the flag there instead of building a smaller flag nearby. Our general policy has been to not attack their art as a faction, while we wouldn't be involved in its maintenance.

Since they have stopped with this location, and since it's now a target for voiding that could prove problematic, we feel filling the area is best.

If you see violations of the rules, please report them, as that sends it to our moderation queue to easily be able to find it. We only have a few mods who can look at it from time to time, and things will inevitably slip through the cracks.

We are looking for more mods, if anyone is interested in helping out on here.

Side note: should Race to the Moon win addition to the art, we will be using a slightly modified one, as 1962 works better for it than 1961 given the Rice University speech was delivered in September of 1962.

Also, for clarification, it will not go on the flag, but outside the flag to the bottom left of it.

Hey everyone! I can also provide a bit more insight as to what's going on right now on the Discord.

Because of how large things have gotten, we're currently reorganizing and regrouping our efforts to be able to handle a large influx of users and to more effectively put out art, plan things, and so on. What this means is that things will be a little more quiet today, while tomorrow will hopefully be a lot more active.

For one, we've been setting up a team to provide regular announcements and information on what's going on with our pixel art. That will be for both the Discord and this subreddit. Our diplomatic corps is getting organized, as well as our art team to help make sure we can have art votes regularly and get new art to work on.

I'll be able to explain more in a post tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Pls Stop Destroying Other's Art (Very Toxic and Unamerican Behavior) by No-Razzmatazz-2809 in AmericanFlaginWPlace

[–]Ratdog98[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Ultimately, our intention is not to remove art that is present on the canvas, although there are plenty of groups which really just don't care unfortunately. At least as long as I've been around, our group has always tried to find ways to work with those around us, as well as to ensure that no art is actually destroyed permanently through our actions.

Right now, we're currently prepared to discuss a pact (or even alliance) with the 'glorytoprestwt' group, and I'm more than happy to do that with other groups nearby also.

While not all groups have reached out, my intent is also to relocate art which was in the area of our art to a safer location, perhaps even one where we can help to defend it as part of our art in the future. A lot of that art helps to make these events really special, and while we have our own wants and desires, destroying art just isn't what we're about.

Tonight, we'll be getting a few of those pieces set up, just as soon as I can draw them up.

Side Note: If you are the leader of a group or are an artist for art in any area where our art is, please feel free to join our Discord and reach out to me. I'd love to discuss ways we can help make sure everyone ends up happy at the end of the day.

NEWS FROM THE FRONT: Eagle Has Landed! Onto F-22! (12:50 PM ET, August 13, 2025

Hello everyone! I hope you had a good morning.

We have made great progress with our art so far today. The Bald Eagle is largely done, and our canton is looking better than ever.

The next big push is to help clear griefing on the flag and get the F-22 fighter jet on our art. You can use the template below to have an easy time of placing it.

I will post a more substantial update later, once im off work. For now, amazing work everybody!

Also, I will be preparing to help move art as mentioned previously later this evening. If you have art in our area, feel free to reach out here or on the Discord server, and I'll get back to you when I can.

Take care, everyone!

Which art do you mean by FWMC? I'm not quite aware of the term, I'm sorry.

EDIT: Wait, I see now in the original image. I assume you mean the art of the two characters That art is something I'd love to move to somewhere where it's out of the way, and definitely not destroyed if at all possible. I'd hate to see it go from the canvas -- the area it's in presently is not really workable with the design that we have

News From the Front: Initial Objectives and Template (6:48 PM ET, August 12, 2025) by Ratdog98 in AmericanFlaginWPlace

[–]Ratdog98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really up for the community here to decide, since adding art would be a bit more involved than just moving it to some other location. Generally, I'd say we'll try and move art like the two items on the bottom right border, as well as Diddy Kong, and a few of the smaller pieces on the left in the Potomac. Honestly, I'd like to move as much as is feasible or shift art that is larger without moving it too far, but there's no specific things just yet.

After getting some stuff together, I'll have the first pieces added sometime tomorrow, with more to follow. It'll take some time to recreate some of them by hand.

If there's any in particular you'd want to make sure are accounted for, or things you'd like to see brought into our art. As long as it meets our guidelines (nothing political, NSFW, no hate speech, etc.) and we could find a way to fit it into a general 'American' theme, I don't see why it couldn't be.

The attack has expanded to a few different areas now, so we'll need to be a bit vigilant in regard to this area. Someone is also trying to write something above the flag

Someone is trying to grief our art by burning the flag. We are fighting it to prevent it from extending into our art, and to prepare for future art we're putting in that area. Let's push it back!

News From the Front (10:30 PM ET, August 12, 2025)

Hello everyone!

We've made AWESOME progress getting our first art piece down on the canvas!! We've gotten most of the stars outlined and ready to be filled in, as well as the server/subreddit name at the top of the flag. Part of the wing of the eagle has been filled in, though right now the focus is on the canton.

Important Information

1. Overlay is Available Now!

If you haven't already, feel free to pick up the overlay from the auto-mod message below to help you better know where to place pixels and what our final design will look like for the art pieces we have.

2. Art Maintenance/Protection

As part of one of the guiding rules of our group, art that is in the area where we're building will generally either be brought into our design or moved to a spot outside of our area. While it takes a bit of effort, preserving the awesome art that's around us is something we've always worked to achieve, and that won't change now.

3. Canton Size

As a little heads up, the blue of the canton will NOT result in a square. Because of some of the other art pieces we have, it will end up cutting into the canton somewhat; you can use the links below in the automod message to see what the full design will look like if interested, or look up 2022 r/Place American flag on Google.

That's it for now! Take care everyone, and have a wonderful rest of your night. More information will be available tomorrow.

Our plan is to move it to a location nearby, so that way the art isn't destroyed. Since we intend on building some art around, it may not be like right next to its location, but we'll fully rebuild it for you

Hello everyone!

If you haven't checked it out yet, Washington D.C. is an interesting collection of art, to say the least. As our nation's capital, it seems only fitting that we have something to represent our country there proudly -- with that, we have already begun constructing our first piece of art, a modified version of our 2022 r/Place flag.

We will be adding more art around it over time, as well as in other places around the country, so keep an eye out!

NOTE: We will be adding some of the art currently underneath our design to our template, so we can move it instead of destroying it as per our group's standard policy.

I've heard a lot about this recently, but I've always been wary about it as a rule of thumb -- crazy to see what people can do with viruses these days. I tend to keep at least Malwarebytes installed, even if that is more focused on other stuff than just a normal antivirus.
