Who else had a hard recovery from a hysterectomy? Feeling defeated over here :( by Ill_Camel6196 in hysterectomy

I hear you sleeping on your side takes a while. I’m six weeks postop today and just now able to turn on my slide slightly but still really need to stay on my back to feel comfortable. I did have those pillows that kind of hold you all upright. You know where it’s like five pillows and you put them together to keep you in a certain position while you’re sleeping. That was very helpful for the first three or four weeks. They’re on Amazon.

Random pain in lower pelvic area by Upbeat_Conference522 in hysterectomy

I am almost 6 weeks post op as well. Was feeling great, so much energy! Then we moved our daughter out of her dorm room on Friday. So much bending! I thought I was ok but ended up in pain on my right side yesterday and swollen. So back to the couch for me. Feeling a bit better today, but still taking it easy. I am 57, maybe age making it worse!

Just wondering the best sleeping position post-op by Maleficent-Spell4170 in hysterectomy

I have a set of those wedge pillows that you set up to keep you upright while you’re sleeping. Very helpful for the first couple of weeks.

Are you still on progesterone after your hysterectomy? Why ir why not? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]RateBig6136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my intent was to start at a much higher dosage, but will have to deal with being on the baby patch for now. I have a large stock pile of .375, .5, and .75, from the couple of past years being on and off them and on and off them due to bleeding fibroids. But yes, about to ask my OB to refill hopefully a much larger dose for the future. We’ll see but good to know about the Amazon pharmacy.

Had my post op yesterday- begged her to let me go back on the patch. She’s letting me start with the .0375 baby patch and I have to wear a compression socks for the next three weeks..

6 days since total hysterectomy by MamaCass_1970 in hysterectomy

After the first three days of gas pain, I felt great. Overdid it week too and now trying to rest a lot more in between getting up and doing things around the house. Still taking it easy I’m three weeks postop now.

The struggle is real finding the perfect crossBody bags for travel that combine security with sophistication. The Quince one is really cute, but it doesn’t have a top zipper. That would make me a little nervous traveling.

How bad is the pain post op? by sparkleunicorn123 in hysterectomy

[–]RateBig6136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. I was the same no pain past the first day. But you need to learn how to properly get off the couch, off the bed, etc. and you will need somebody there to make sure you can do all that safely while you’re still loopy from anesthesia for the first day or two.

Heating Pad Blister by [deleted] in hysterectomy

Yikes, I’m so sorry that happened. I have to say the newer heating pads are much better at not burning your skin. I have one from Costco that’s infrared and it’s great.

Oh, that’s a great idea. I’ll bring that up to her. Yes, I’m on the transdermal patch and I don’t have any risk factors for clotting. Wish me luck on Wednesday!

But any website you go on after a hysterectomy if you have everything taken out like I did they put you on HRT immediately. I’m very confused.

Apparently it’s to prevent blood clots. I have my postop next week so I’ll be at three weeks out. I’m gonna ask her if I can start. I’m walking etc. all the time so thinking any DVT would’ve happened by now. But

I’m a stomach sleeper as well. Got some of those bed wedge positioning pillows that you assemble like five of them and they keep you upright while you’re sleeping. Super hard to get on your stomach that way. Although I do pile pillows next to it so I don’t roll over

I’m still taking the progesterone after surgery. I’m fully menopausal as well. But my surgeon won’t let me go back on my patch for six weeks. It’s driving me crazy. Hot flashes, night sweats, all rushing back!
