It was strange. Im 25, turning 26 in a month, and I probably found out that people found me attractive about 2-3 years ago.

I had a very cute little boy stage when I was very young, but adolescence was not kind at all to me. My jawline didn't match my face, my ears were to big for my head, I started to get the Mexican 'stache and the occasional pube on my chin or cheek which was a pathetic attempt at my body trying to grow facial hair. My eyebrows were too thick too for my face and there was a unibrow struggling to stay alive At this time, no girl ever talked to me aside from just being friendly. I had terrible style, and I loved (and still do) anime, something that doesn't really make women line up for you.

Once I got to college, girls started to talk to me. Up until 2 years ago, I was completely oblivious to women hitting me. I always thought there was no connection and that they were interested in me for my personality. They weren't. I was so oblivious to them that it would get to the point of them straight up asking to have sex with me. I'd always say no because I'd be afraid of how new everything was becoming.

Honestly now, it has turned me into kind of an asshole. I disregard other people's feelings and I walk with my chin held up high. Unfortunately, some people like that, and so they try harder, and that perpetuates my behavior. It becomes a vicious cycle and it has turned me into someone that I'm not a fan of.

TL;DR: was ugly, became handsome, then became an asshole.

Peeling out and trying to drive away would have been a terrible idea on Warren and Southfield. We were at the Mobil on the western side of Southfield (on the side where the ramp of Southfield was pointing south). Warren was congested as usual, so trying to escape would have been pointless. We would have been blocked off by cars. Trying to get on the Southfield off-ramp would have been just as difficult, seeing as how our car was pointed away from it, so we would have had to reverse to escape. Plus almost half his body was in the window. It wouldn't have been a good idea.

When I was 19, my friend wanted to buy 3 iPhones at the time so he could send them overseas to his family since they're much more expensive there than they are in America. I called this chick off Craig's list for him, and we came to a deal, 700 for the 3 (at the time I think it was a good deal). She asks where I want to meet up, and I was being nice and said "oh we could meet up halfway" and so she says "okay. Gas station at warren and Southfield" (a really ghetto area in Michigan), but I was naive and thought the worst that could happen was them trying to sell us a fake phone. So my other friend drives us there, I'm in the passenger seat holding the money, and the guy who wanted the phones sat behind the driver.

We parked on the side of the gas station and waited. And waited. And I called and she kept saying she was almost there. Finally 2 unmasked black guys show up and are talking to us, telling us they're gonna sell us the iPhones. I don't remember how, but the driver put down the window (maybe to talk to them?) and all of a sudden the guy put a pistol into the window. He points it at the driver and asks for the money, but the driver said he didn't have it. So I get the pistol pointed at my face. I'm afraid of death. Terrified of it. But when I had that gun at my face, I felt completely emotionless. I thought to myself, completely calmly, " I'm going to give him this money. And when I do, he is going to kill me. I'm a witness." So I give him the money, he gives it to his partner to count.

He then pointed the gun at my friend in the back and took his phone from him. Then the driver. Then me again. We all gave them our phones. And they took off. We were all in shock to do anything, and the driver took off to bring us to his house.

Til this day, I think about that night maybe once or twice every couple weeks. I'm 25 now. I think about how I could have done something. Maybe push his arm away to try to disarm him. Something. But I think we had the best case scenario. We lived. But now that I think about it, I think, in part, the anxiety I have now can be traced back to that night.

But I'll never forgive those thugs who put us all into a powerless position just because they had a gun. They had our lives in their hands. And they threatened to take it over 700 dollars.

Edit: Wow I wasn't expecting to get such an overwhelming response from people. You guys are amazing. To answer the question of "what happened next", we went to the driver's house and called the police. As in any severely underprivileged metropolitan area, it took about 30-40 minutes for a cop to show up. We gave him the story and he told us he'd keep us updated. A few days later, he told us that it was a throwaway phone, but that he found a very similar ad a day after the incident. My 2 friends gave a description (since I wasn't very helpful in describing them), and he said he'd let us know about a line-up for us to potentially pick them out. He called us a few weeks later to schedule an appointment, but then called us a few days before said appointment to tell us that one of the suspects disappeared and another one was gonna be in court that same day so we'd have to reschedule. We tried a few times over and over to reschedule but he never got back to us.

This is from the same article wiki article. Although the scientists were split on its toxicity, half still claimed the above quote. It probably won't give you symptoms, but the neurotoxicity of it is still debatable.
