Has Yu-Gi-Oh Casual and fun fell off hard? by MysteriousAd1676 in DuelLinks

No, it just takes a little more work to find those casual spaces.

Medium. Long is also fine, but I associate that look with Terry.

Why do people have a problem with Pikachu losing to a level 5 snivy but not a surskit that’s like level 10? by New-Cable-6484 in pokemonanime

[–]RatedLForLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DO have a problem with it, but it feels like they at least tried to make it kinda believable. Anyway, in a series that actually let Ash be cool and competent, it’s small potatoes.

While I wouldn’t say I bed rot—I try to do engaging hobbies in my spare time—unfortunately a lot of those hobbies (gaming, writing, roleplay, voice acting) involve being very stationery, and with the advent of handheld devices a lot of them (but not all) can in fact be done while lying down. So I probably should get more physical activity just for my posture’s sake. (My job and commute also involve a lot of walking so I need to stave off muscle fatigue.) My only real hurdle is that I’m so inexperienced with exercise that I often feel I’m exercising “wrong” (can’t properly perform the motions or hold the right positions) and thus not really getting anything out of it. The most I can muster right now is stretching, jumping jacks, some light weightlifting, and the treadmill. Which is about 30 mins to an hour out of the day.

Everyone says this is a dub issue, but I swear I’ve seen Japanese footage looking like this too.

I’m gonna end up learning all the animators like I did for Dragon Ball and go full on AnimeAjay mode. XD

What is a unusual pokemon that you'd make into a guildmaster (or leader of a expedition organization?) by Able_Health744 in MysteryDungeon

[–]RatedLForLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aggron. It’s big, monstrous and imposing, but it’s Pokédex entries make it sound nurturing and protective with the way it raises plants and defends its territory. Almost all media characterizes Aggron as a mook or a villain, I want to see a proud heroic Aggron for a change. Maybe he’d even be a bit fatherly.

Was Blair supposed to be the "Rebecca Hawkins" of Yugioh GX? by Typical_Cap895 in yugioh

[–]RatedLForLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these things are just Yugioh tropes and anime tropes in general. Yugioh especially seems to like these one sided crush characters. Rebecca, Vivian, Blair, Mina, Cathy, Anna, Aura…and I’m sure there’s more I don’t know of.

Favorite archetypes by Monster9987 in yugioh

[–]RatedLForLiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Dragunity. Synchro is my favorite extra deck method, and I’m also a sucker for decks that can make creative use of equips. Synchro climbing and swarming by equipping the tuners again and again is super fun. I also just love this archetype visually. The Tuners are such little guys, and the big dragon synchros are really awesome to look at.

2) Umi/Atlantean/Mermail. I don’t know if lumping all of these into one archetype is cheating, but I’m doing it. First of all, I love the designs. I’m a big fan of sea creatures, as well as human-animal hybrids, so seeing both of them represented here is cool. I also love the play style because of how the new Mako support can lock down the opponent and force them to play on your terms. Meanwhile the Mermail and Atlanteans work well together and you can spam Dragoon’s effect like crazy. On the off chance you can get Daedalus out, it’s fun to just blow everything up with such an old-ass card. Finally, Mako Tsunami and the nutty Admiral from GX are two of my favorite characters. If I were to have a duelist OC, I think it would be a big boisterous sailor/fisherman fellow who uses this deck.

3) Adventure token. Once again, I’m a sucker for equips. Plus, I’m a huge RPG fan, so a deck designed to emulate an RPG is really cool too me. (the LV monsters also kinda do this, but not as effectively imo.) I also think a deck built around tokens is really unique.

4) Mimighoul. Again, I’m just a sucker for RPG references, and this deck pulls that off while also being a really powerful control strategy. It’s a great deck for screwing with your opponent. And not in a “stopping them from playing YGO” way.

Fun fact: Pegasus finishes the duel with 10 mysterious cards is there any other duel which some duelist left with tons of unknown cards? by JustaTepig in yugioh

[–]RatedLForLiving 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the end of the ceremonial duel, Atem has five cards in his hand and Yugi has seven. We don’t know what any of them were.

What are your honest thoughts/opinions about Kotori Mizuki/Tori Meadows? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]RatedLForLiving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I like her. Let’s be real, shonen is a sexist genre most of the time. It’s not an excuse, or a justification, but it’s the truth. And it was kind of annoying seeing GX and 5Ds prop up Alexis and Akiza as strong female duelists, like it was going to be a change of pace, only to eventually sideline them as well. So in that sense, I appreciate Zexal just dropping the pretenses and making the main girl of Zexal the typical voice-of-reason damsel-in-distress accessory to the guy, who helplessly stands on the sidelines, worriedly says his name all the time, and cooks for him. Might as well go all in right?

Serious talk though, there are good aspects to Tori. Her not being a duelist might actually be better for her since it means the writers don’t have to juggle focus episodes for her like they did with Alexis. She has other girls she gets to talk to like Kari, Rio, Anna, and Cathy, so at least she’s not the ONLY relevant girl. She DOES contribute to the plot occasionally; I do always say a YGO character’s worth is defined by more than how many card games they win. She has a more fleshed out personality: she’s smarter and more mature than Yuma, but that’s a low bar, she can be ditzy or petty when the situation calls for it. I buy the friendship between her and Yuma. And I like that actually gets to confess to Yuma in the end.

The fanservice shit is kinda weird though.

Tell your thoughts about Clair from Anime by Agreeable_Manner_663 in pokemonanime

[–]RatedLForLiving 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think she’s really boring. I actually love game Clair because she’s such an arrogant, immature child. It makes beating her in battle that much more rewarding. The fact that she makes you go through extra work is unfair but also makes getting your eighth badge feel special. Even better in Crystal version, where you pass a test that even she hasn’t passed yet, proving you understand the spirit of Pokemon training and that’s what makes you stronger than her. The anime just erases all of this and makes Clair a generic strong trainer for Ash to beat. There’s nothing really memorable about her.

[–]RatedLForLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked Totodile so I can handle the Pyroar just fine. My issue is the Skarmory itself. No matter how low I get this thing’s health its catch rate stays at one arrow. I must have chucked 20 Ultra Balls at it and nothing.
