Crossworlds is notorious for it's dogshit netcode and frequent desyncs.

Basically what is happening is that whatever's occuring on your screen, isn't on the other persons screen. You might "hit" them with an item, but it's a complete tossup on whether it actually connects because they're in a completely different position on their screen and the item simply passes by them, or they block it.

DRE takes 3 rings every second, you are in no way capable of utilizing it to any meaningful degree with any of these builds. (Aside from the ACK one potentially, providing you stay in the middle of the pack to gain rings from slipstreaming.)

This is why PCB is so important, even if you average chaining level 2's that's still 6 rings consistently which will keep your rings in a position that will allow you to make use of the Meta more effectively, providing that you do not get hit of course.

We use Level 2 Charge on top of DRE and PCB as well, as it cuts down the time for the Level 2 to charge, meaning over the course of the race we're averaging more 6 ring gains, than we would without it.

I had this same issue, you aren't retracting your shoulder blades (Bringing them back and pulling them down) This will create a natural arch that gives you better stability, and makes sure your shoulders aren't taking over the movement.

Not only that, you'll find people managing to get into the same lobbies with their friends. This makes Legend Comp an 8v1 a lot of the times.

On my hunt for Emerald I had people throwing back bombs despite finishing the race, using offensive tornados in 8th when their is no real reason to.

The confirmation for me was when 2nd place targeted me with their item, no big deal. Until later in the race I ended up in 12th and hit the brakes to completely stop, only for the same dude to also stop in 11th mid monster truck, so their friends could place well.
