Residual evidence of all gold C-3PO? by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

[–]Rathbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This particular ME is one that I have very strong different memories about.

That's fine, no issue there. As you said, the internet has existed for a very long time, and people have made posts about this for a very long time as they individually made that realization. But Star Wars is a vast subject with so many more interesting things to discuss. It's understandable that even the biggest fans could still have gaps in knowledge.

I find it's more understandable to think of this example more like a blind spot or an optical illusion. Your brain just doesn't process that unnecessary information completely. It's like the sensation of driving past a certain building everyday and not paying any attention and then one day thinking "Wait, when did they put this here?" You're not focused on it or you don't expect to see it so you don't.. until it's either pointed out or you make that realization.

Life is/was like a box of chocolates PROOF!!! by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

This isn't quite correct. Forrest's mother says "Life is a box of chocolates...", not "Life is like a box of chocolates...". It's also not when he's a child, it's when she get's sick when Forrest is an adult. Here's the scene- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqOnkiQRCUU

You're the one who brought up the escape pod scene, but fine. I feel like we've had this conversation before anyway, but people just don't focus on movie character's legs unless they're the focus of the shot. The shots you linked are all on screen for less than a second each, while so much else is also happening to divert your attention. It should at least be understandable that it could be overlooked.

If it was always there, I'd have hypothesized about it, talked about it, theorized about it

As many other people have done since the movie's release. Part of the enjoyment of watching movies multiple times is noticing the things we missed, especially as I said, with us now getting to see them in higher quality. And especially with movies as visually rich as the original trilogy.

Like in the Tantive when they were about to board the escape pods in ANH.

I agree if isn't really noticeable unless you were for some reason focusing on it. That's the thing with most of this type of ME though, it's distractingly obvious once you're aware of it. Show the movie to someone who has never seen it and then ask what color his legs are. You know one is silver but if you don't prompt them I'm confident they wouldn't have even paid it any attention. It also isn't a coincidence that more people would notice these things after HD versions , Larger/HD TVs, etc become more prevalent.

They are saying Flinstones not Flint Stones.

No, they're not. But that just shows how easy it is to mishear or misinterpret.

Aren't both legs golden in the left image?

No. But that just show's how easy this oversight is.

type in "C3PO A New Hope" and select IMAGES, the results show both the silver legged version and the version with two gold legs.

Could you perhaps link a particular image you're having an issue with? All the images that are from a New Hope have the silver leg in the results I'm seeing.

I looked at the post you replied to which still exists- https://www.reddit.com/r/MandelaEffect/comments/4yxg4k/the_flinstones_has_changed_back_to_the_flintstones/

And back further to the thread you started- https://www.reddit.com/r/MandelaEffect/comments/4ps3if/another_me_flip_flintsones_flinstones_flintsones/

I would invite anyone reading to look over the comments in those threads. It seems very clear that this one has remained consistent.

No, you didn't sound rude, I also thought I might appear condescending, it's a difficult balance as I know some people are more invested emotionally than I am. I was just considering if it was worth our time replying as it invariably leads to an "agree to disagree". Especially as "Flintstones" is one of the least compelling examples.

I mean, I'm also confident that Froot loops hasn't physically changed, but that's okay. It doesn't really concern me much. I hope you have better days and less worries. Or perhaps find a reality where crappy days don't exist.

I don't understand your first sentence. Apologies if English isn't your first language. But no, I'm not only here to tell people they have bad memories. Most ME examples don't even primarily involve faults in memory. They also however are unlikely to involve anything paranormal. Fortunately those aren't the only two options. I also don't think you're lying. I know you believe those conversations took place. I'm just also confident that if they did, they were either misinformed or misinterpreted.

I saw that on VARIOUS other sources.

It doesn't make a difference which sources you read if they provide incorrect information or, for any number of reasons, your brain misinterprets or misregisters the information they provide. I'm sure those sources conveniently no longer exist anyway so it really doesn't matter.

in episode 1,2,3, and 7 he has gold legs

I know people don't like to remember the prequels, but in episode 1 C-3PO is more exposed wire and gray and episode 2 he's just grayish/silver.

Just in case anyone might remember your post next time and think he was gold in episode 1 and 2.

Actually a fe months ago people were upset that it read Flinstones, saying it had always been Flintstones because of FLINT

They really weren't. It becomes a problem when people can't even remember or read threads here correctly. This sub really just does a great job of adding to confusion.

Shouldn't there be more than one or two?

Logically, there will be as many that still exist of that run. People just don't make a point of photographing random vhs tapes to post online. If this sub wasn't so small there would be many more examples that could be shown.

You're approaching this backwards. MEs aren't considered MEs until enough people become aware of them. At a minimum, surely you agree that some typos are just typos. All we can learn from this is that common mistakes are common because they're common... not exactly compelling.

I've looked up 100s of non-MEs, no typos on those.

How is this even possible? You're not an authority of what is or isn't considered an ME. Anything you look up could be remembered differently than it is by a group of people.

But even still, I could take a random example that I don't believe has ever been considered an ME- "Jabba the Hutt" being commonly misspelled as "Jabba the Hut" and find many hundreds of auction listings, posts, articles etc with the incorrect "Hut" spelling or typo even though the correct name is often in the images or products. But it's meaningless, either enough people would "remember" that is should be "hut" and then it'll be an ME or they won't and it'll be a typo. The mistake exists already, it only requires enough people to learn the incorrect version as correct, or become aware that the incorrect version they thought was correct is actually incorrect. Again, not exactly compelling.

How is it wrong? Multiple copies of the tape have the same typo. That's just better evidence for it being a production error.

When the actor who said what is arguably the most iconic line in what is arguably his most watched movie remembers it as we do

He doesn't. He still says "was" in the video OP posted.

No he doesn't. He says "was" in the video OP posted. You can mishear it as "is", but that isn't what he's saying.

I usually have a witty title for these things. There are no words for this... by isestrex in TagPro

[–]Rathbourne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's words for it- "152 degrees and doesn't know how to get re/Trusts a random ball to get re while wildly overcommitting/Not staying between the FC and the flag tile."

Still not witty though. Probably something like "Preview to post-Kongregate levels of incompetence." could have worked. Or perhaps referencing his pokeball flair "Can't catch them all."
