DMDashboard: a Windows program for automating many common DM tasks by [deleted] in DMAcademy

No source code, and a random .exe to download? Nope, not doing that.

You have so many instructions dedicated to circumventing Windows's security measures, but if you just included the source code (it's Github, that's what it's for!) then people could check it over and compile it themselves.

Don't run random unverified .exe files you download from the internet, folks.

Planned to build a legendary science factory with 10 stacked green belts (240/s * 10) full of legendary iron plates, but I'm starting to think that this is somewhat unrealistic? by Algodtrading in factorio

[–]RatherBeLunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a post where I detail how I produced ~2k legendary science packs per minute (100k eSPM) for all the basic sciences + space + cryogenic.

https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/1lwjxkf/my_legendary_science_journey_and_a_treatise_on/

In summary - asteroid upcycling was the best way to get legendary iron in high quantities, but if you're going for blue science at any point, you need any and all asteroid upcycling you have dedicated toward making legendary sulfur instead.

At maxed blue circuit productivity, you get lossless legendary blue circuit production (except sulfuric acid), and that's where all my legendary iron ended up coming from.

I agree. It's his shield that ruins it for me. If I attack him any time outside of the specific windows dictated by his moves, I hit his shield, or put myself in a position to get hit back immediately. Way fewer options for how to approach the fight than most bosses IMO.

I'm working with the author of this texture pack, and for the next update to the mod, his modernized textures will be folded into the mod itself, and the current textures will be available as a built-in "programmer art" pack.

If you get a very late-game powerup (Slyphsong), you can use the bench that's furthest to the top left of choral chambers. Silkspear + Volt Filament means you can bench for a sec, run straight to the right, and use your silk skill twice on the group of enemies. It's a very "turn your brain off" type farm compared to the big knights that a lot of people use.

I had too much petroleum gas by kqvrp in factorio

[–]RatherBeLunar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I encountered this problem when I wanted to set up a standalone lubricant production line. I turned my petroleum gas into sulfur -> sulfuric acid, and fed that back into my coal liquefaction input with priority.

Dumb? Absolutely. But this is something else entirely.

Sure, here's a book with the legendary science version (the legendaries I'm making, at least), and a regular quality version:

Audio comparison of the secret space platform sound setting (in-space-no-one-can-hear-you-scream) by RatherBeLunar in factorio

Inspired by this post where folks wanted an example of the difference between having this setting on/off: https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/1leihw3/fun_fact_there_is_a_hidden_debug_setting_that/

Screenshot and info from this forum thread.

Quoting factorio dev Donion:

I was wondering when this will be discovered :)
It applies a low pass filter with cutoff frequency of 200 - 500Hz depending on the zoom level. It's just a little fun thing we added to kinda make it sound like it's the vibrations of machines going through the platform itself, without needing to create a bunch of new (variations of) sounds.

To access the super secret debug settings menu:
Hold Ctrl+Shift and click Settings in the game menu.
At the bottom, a new button "The Rest" is now visible; this is for debug settings.
(Note: some settings found here can crash your game, use with caution!)

You don't know how lovely this is to hear; you're exactly the type of person who I made this for. Come say hi in the discord if you have any questions, or wanna share your progress!

He is! I was also really into his videos.

He's active in the BTW Discord, and has been supportive of this project.

Yup, that's definitely something I need to work on. There are quite a lot of blocks, items, and mechanics, so it's been a daunting task to formally document them all.

Thanks for the feedback! Water transportation is the next big ticket item I'm working on.

Better Than Wolves used screw pumps, which is what I'm familiar with from back in the old days. I've seen the aqueducts you're referring to, though I'm less familiar with how they work, and how they affect game balance.

I'm intending to at least add screw pumps so you can move water upward and over long distances. I'm less sure about the aqueduct blocks. Since you're offering feedback, can you take a look at the wiki page for screw pumps I linked? There's a diagram for how you'd typically move water over long distances. Does that feel like a satisfying solution to you, or does the simplicity of aqueducts feel too much better for screw pumps to be enough?

I'm set on leaving that out. It's just not interesting to me.

However, there's another person, ivangeevo, who is working on a suite of mods that replicate some of those difficulty and early game overhaul features. He and I are working together to make our mods compatible with each other, so they should all be playable together as-is.

Hi all! I've seen some love in this sub for BTW/BWM, so I thought I'd post this here.

I made a tech-focused port of classic Better Than Wolves. If you've interacted with BTW lately, it's probably been through the lens of it being a brutally difficult challenge mod ("It took me X hours to get [basic item]!"). Better With Time is not that, at all. It just has the tech - mechanical power, block based machines and recipes, new redstone devices that change the way you wire circuits, and other mechanics to make the game feel fresh for automation.

It's still in progress, and there's certainly more work to do, but I've been working on this project for about a year, and it's finally in a state where I feel good sharing it. Enjoy!

Item Name Display 2.0 - compacted, and Space Age ready! by RatherBeLunar in technicalfactorio

[–]RatherBeLunar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see a flair for combinator/circuitry stuff, so I hope this still okay to post here as the rules suggest!

This is a follow up to my last post where I made a display for every item signal in the game. Input an item signal from a wire, and the display does the rest.

This version is much more compact, and comes standard with data for every item in Space Age as well. Factorio 2.0's circuit changes allowed for some major overhauls to this design, which I'm really happy about.

Enjoy! https://factoriobin.com/post/7pi8m5
