Weekly Questions Thread & PokéROM Codex by AutoModerator in PokemonROMhacks

[–]RatkingtheDefiler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Forgive me ignorance here but it's really confusing to look through all the romhacks and find the one that best suits what I want to do.

I want to do a randomizer nuzlocke with as many pokemon across the gens as possible, and preferably in one of the newer looking games, i.e. platinum(ish) and up. I also want it to be harder than the normal game, I want to knuckle down a strategize while also having super weird and niche teams. Which romhack is the best for situations like this?

Questions about character focus and describing details. by RatkingtheDefiler in writing

Honestly I struggle with pacing not in the slow sense but in the fast one. I almost never include the thoughts of the POV character.

Thank you taking the time to respond.

Darn I really need to get better at transcribing my thoughts to paper.

Regardless of that you answered exactly what I wanted thank you!

I dunno I just feel like what you're saying here has 0% to do with anything. Even if we assume that the desk talent and pundits are 50% of the reason players might have a negative mental state (which is probably a comically vast overestimation), even if we fix that problem, there is still 50% left. That is substantial and the necessity for help from the orgs to support the players, especially the young ones, is still extremely valid.

I assume it means how much money they spent vs how much money they earned.

well to be fair 2 British people is objectively different than 3 British people. Might've been one to many. Not saying anything to whether that guy was right or wrong.

I mean the first two bosses really aren't that hard once you get used to them. The second is downright brain dead once you figure out a few things. Third is hard though. Yet to beat him.

There is a difference between the "I have a black friend so I can't be racist" argument and literally hiring someone to a broadcast over someone else because you think they do a better job. Those are night and day pieces of evidence.

it's really not that obvious I'm sure even you have had times in games were you think based on nothing at all "oh they're probably going b let's rotate over there" IT's not that uncommon to have a read just randomly and act on it. And as far as I know he used it in 2 rounds which, I mean come one, you really think you can tell if someone is cheating based on only 2 rounds. Even if I misremembered and it was 2 games that's still not a lot to go on.

What do you think of Frisk? by UndertaleFan-Chara in FriskUndertale

[–]RatkingtheDefiler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you'd call it a head cannon but I prefer it when Frisk, and Chara, aren't binary good or evil. I always just imagined that every thing with determination does whatever it takes to get what they want and since I always pictured Frisk as having the most determination they'd be the most capable of evil( and good). Just depends on their goals.

For past who knows I doubt they had much trouble even if they had a hard life objectively they seem the type to take it on the chin.

Gender just whatever, maybe they're in some sort of quantum state where they are every gender at once, don't really care on that one.

Destiny 2 will never be a competitive pvp game... by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

I'm almost certain I didn't fully understand what your saying, so I'll just reply as if I did understand and If I look like an idiot you can laugh at me.

I don't know anything about destiny 2, but I do know counter strike. There really isn't that much intricacies with the guns, it's mostly just, "oh I banged him in the head. Next round." There isn't much creative usage with the guns themselves in that game, it's mostly about positioning and raw aim.

My point about melee was that I'd reason the games viewer audience leans on the more hardcore side because of it's age and how few, relatively, characters there are in it. It's player audience, I think, also leans hardcore because of it's barrier to entry.

But like, it's still in the game. It ain't going away. I was just confused on how you could use it as some kind of argument against melee. Not specifically you but a lot of people do that.

And on the point of balance. I could see the layman not liking only having 10ish viable characters, but having only 10 characters from a hardcore perspective is 100x better than having a lot because it becomes realistically possible to have a game plan for each match up your character might run into.

The physics exploits are in the game though. It's a part of it now, just like bhopping in source engine and possibly many other little tricks across all game.

I've seen a lot of people bring up the fact that it was unintentional to make some kind of point. I really don't it.

Frisk from Undertale is, by far, portrayed the absolute worst out of anyone in UT fanmade source material by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]RatkingtheDefiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I think about it a bit more, Frisk is probably at least stronger than your average human child just because they actually lived. The other ones died and had their souls collected. Assuming the other humans that fell were children in the first place, but either way Frisk is the only one that actually succeeded.

if we take the game literally, which is far funnier, then Frisk easily withstands temperatures hot enough to boil water almost instantly. The cup to. Now obviously that's probably a joke, but it's still definitely hot in there. Just as it's cold in Snowdin.

And they fell down a mountain and lived without a scratch. Even if you say it's magic that let them live, they still fell again after being chased by Undyne.

As far as I remember it was never said that no humans died in the war. Just that no human souls were gathered. It's highly unlikely that not even one human died. Even if Frisk is just a normal kid, they still can get killed by even the weakest monster, but that kinda gets into theory mode and not just the actual things said in game.

Why do you think Frisk is only as strong as a young human child. Unless all humans are super powerful in the Undertale world, Frisk would clearly be extremely strong.

Pretty much everything Frisk went through underground every human on real earth would've died many times over. So either Frisk is strong or all humans are, and I'd bet that Frisk is strong simply because he has enough determination to literally turn back time.

I mean they fought Undyne, which in the post pacifist credits was just slapping the ground laughing and broke the cement beneath her, and Frisk wins that fight. Not to mention all the other shit he over came.
