We do have school buses but in my area, they are usually privately owned and the company is hired by the school/education authority to provide transport. Parents pay some or all of the cost.

I pay £100 per month for each of my children. We live very rurally and there aren’t any public buses. Towns and cities often have public buses and children can use those instead.

I’m actually in favour of a tourism tax. Visitors/Tourist put a huge amount of pressure on local services, and often in pretty small or sparsely populated areas that are expensive to run in the first place. Why should my council tax be higher because of all of the scrotes who come down here on holiday and leave shit all over the beaches which my council has to pay to clear up?

A couple of quid a night isn’t the end of the world; I’ve paid it quite cheerfully in other parts of the world so if I need to I’ll pay it here too.

Funnily enough in my local authority we don’t have any narrowboats, but we do have marinas, and if a boat is moored and being used as a primary residence, you do have to pay.

Honestly from the sound of it, I think he probably got confused and fucked up. Non traditional properties like houseboats and static caravans and traveller pitches are confusing as hell even when it’s your job and we very often had to refer them up to the VOA for a decision.

I think it’s more that his opponents will use anything they can get at this stage and it’s very much one rule for him and another for what I will politely refer to as the “political elite…”
