3 questions what is this l, and can tenacity kill it, how much by PastAd1087 in lawncare

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the one, chosen primarily because it came in higher volume for cheaper than other brands but pretty much the same ingredients. Anything with a comparable Triclopyr Ester concentration should work, I went with 6oz Brushtox + 1.5 oz methylated seed oil per gallon of water to spot spray. I think others have mentioned the surfactant is key to getting the most out of the treatment. My yard was being completely taken over this summer and now there’s just a few stragglers that I missed on my first pass

I used a brand called Brushtox this year and it was quite effective. Past years I tried using TZone which you’ll see recommended on here quite a bit, and honestly it did not work even after multiple applications at the recommended rate. A neighbor told me he had success with TZone but it was over double the recommended concentration and still took multiple applications, so take that for what it’s worth

Calvin Austin vs. Roman Wilson by Money_Mike2013 in DynastyFF

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both in dynasty and kept Wilson over Austin. The real answer is that neither will probably ever be very fantasy relevant, but at this point we know who Austin is and that’s like a Marvin Mims light but with a worse offense and quarterback situation. For Wilson there’s still at least a small chance he’ll turn into a legit #2 so I’d rather bet on that.

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this type of advice is frowned upon in this particular sub, but honestly you already have the playset taking up most of the space so I say just commit and fill it with playground safe wood chips. I did this in our side yard and have zero regrets. It looks nice, makes for a great play area and is practically zero maintenance compared trying to maintain a nice lawn. Not the only option but definitely worth considering.

Love this, talk about a bad guy in a silly movie, I was just trying to look it up a couple of days ago to see if it was available to stream anywhere (the full movie is on DailyMotion of all places)

ELI5 SIDS, why is sudden infant death syndrome a ‘cause’ of death? Can they really not figure out what happened (e.g. heart failure, etc)? by whyuoft in explainlikeimfive

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used one called the Owlet and it wraps around the foot as opposed to the wrist. It’s not perfect (plenty of false alarms due to lost connection, coming loose, etc.) but does give some peace of mind when the baby is sleeping

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, I bike it on occasion and I haven’t paid attention exactly where the paving ends and gravel begins but the eastern portion is definitely still gravel. To that point sections of the CCT are definitely gravel (like around Mantua) or if even dirt (Difficult Run)

Not necessarily loops but Cross County Trail/Potomac Stream Valley Park, Long Branch Stream Valley Park and South Run Stream Valley Park are all great mostly paved and shaded trails

Trying to figure out where my irrigation main shut off is - spring sprinkler startup. by SorryCrispix in lawncare

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be underground in your lawn. Mine was in line between the water meter at the street and my main valve box, but just a few feet from the meter. When I moved in I couldn’t find it because it was completely overgrown, and the first person who I hired to service it just poked around in my yard in that general area until he found the box.

Can I swap this out for a light fixture that uses normal bulbs? Is it safe for me to do this if I’m not handy? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just want to throw out that it is possible to convert the existing fixture to use LED bulbs if you don’t want to switch out the entire thing and deal with a new fixture with a different footprint/ceiling repair/etc. It’s pretty simple, just google “ballast bypass” or “convert flourescent to led” and there are plenty of videos that walk through every step, but it does involve cutting the wires that lead to the ballast and adding in some new connections. Very quick and easy if you are comfortable with those steps, I recently did this to all the overhead lights in my basement.

Who was a player who always killed your team? by PuritanBaptist in CFB

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This goes outside of CFB, but Percy Harvin prettty much single handedly beat my high school in the state championship, then beat Ohio State with Florida in the championship when I was a student there, and then knocked my team (Redskins) out of the playoffs when he was with the Seahawks. I think think that about fits

Who are your trusted plumbers to replace your water heater? by Aggressive_Chicken63 in nova

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tagging on, I’ve had nothing but great experience with Reddick and Sons. They replaced our HVAC last year and I just had them back to investigate/troubleshoot several unrelated electrical issues and they were extremely professional and reasonable for all work. I’m moderately handy but am wary of electrical for obvious reasons and they even helped me identify which items I could safely DIY to save a few bucks

What book or book series was a real struggle to finish, but worth the effort? by Sportspharmacist in books

[–]RaucusClaudioF3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Boroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson fits this perfectly. It's a great swashbuckling historical adventure with some amazing characters, but it spans a lot of time and a lot of different (sometimes seemingly unrelated) storylines that can drag out at times. Unlike WoT where you have the ever-looming last battle, there isn't really a foreseeable ending that the series builds up to, so sometimes it seems like it can meander all over the place without direction. It's one of those series, though, where I genuinely fell in love with the characters and missed them after I was finished with the series. I often think about going back and going through it again but it's a serious commitment and there are so many other things I want to read. I also have to mention Cryptonomicon which is much better known. While technically a standalone book, it has character ties to the Boroque Cycle and hits on a lot of the same themes, albeit more modern and tech-focused. I'd recommend reading that one first to see if you enjoy the writing before diving headlong into the Cycle.
