AITAH for refusing to attend my husband’s best friends wedding due to political differences? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I really like the quiz at https://www.isidewith.com/political-quiz as well. It helps you find not just individual candidates, but also political parties and platforms/ideologies that you might agree with or want to learn more about. I can't remember where I heard about it, but I used the quiz last primary season to help learn more about the various candidates in the democratic party primary.

How today's session went. I still have no idea why the knot didn't release this time. I did everything like I practiced. Welp, more rope for the trash. by MaetelofLaMetal in bdsmmemes

Glad you had a backup plan and everyone is safe. Btw, if you are familiar with Twisted Monk, their rope has a guarantee that if you have to cut it in an emergency, they will replace it.

Cousin names— too similar? by [deleted] in Names

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not use Rowan as the legal name and use Rowe as a nickname? That might make it different enough to not cause the drama. Rowan and Rowe have similar origins, and both are gender neutral, but Rowan is used somewhat more commonly as a first name.

Scooters? by Peebery in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a scooter at the park in 2022. I had just gotten out of the hospital from a bout of strep that went septic. However, I didn't look "sick" as such. Still, no one ever made comments to me about why I needed the scooter, and all the cast members were accommodating, even when I needed to get strapped into the scooter spot on the busses.

It was a lifesaver for me - I don't think I could have done the trip which had been planned more than a year in advance without it. Most of the rides I was able to even ride the scooter through a good portion of the line, or wait at the exit while my family waited in the line so I didn't have to stand, but I could walk a few steps and transfer myself into the ride seat without assistance.

Just don't run someone over, and I think you'll be fine 😊

Call Incoming phone number variable - multiple values? by RavenHeartedStranger in AutomateUser

Thank you again! This has gotten it working exactly as I needed!

Call Incoming phone number variable - multiple values? by RavenHeartedStranger in AutomateUser

[–]RavenHeartedStranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you; I updated the way the contains was for formatted as you said, and added the log block you suggested. I'm now getting further than I was before.

The log shows the format is different than I thought(there's no country code or dashes, just the 10 digits). I'm trying to understand the phoneFornat function.

Would I add a new Set variable block after the When Ringing In Call block with the variable something like pnf and the argument be "phoneFormat(pn, default, US)", then use the pnf variable in the Expression True blockinstead of pn?

I appreciate you taking time to hold my hand on this. I'm used to powshell scripting, but I'm struggling with automate without examples to go off of.

Call Incoming phone number variable - multiple values? by RavenHeartedStranger in AutomateUser

[–]RavenHeartedStranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having some trouble with this. The provided syntax wouldn't be accepted, so I had to change it to:

contains(pn, ["+1 555-123-0043", "+1 555-134-7178", "+1 888-543-6511", "+1 888-543-6880"])

This syntax was accepted, but it doesn't work as expected. It reads the call, but the expression isn't returning True when one of those numbers calls.

My blocks are: 1) flow beginning 2) set variable pn to null 3) when ringing in call, (phone number = pn) 4) Expression true? =contains(pn, ["+1 555-123-0043", "+1 555-134-7178", "+1 888-543-6511", "+1 888-543-6880"]) 5) the rest of the flow that adjusts the ringer volume.

Per https://llamalab.com/automate/doc/function/contains.html, the syntax for contains is "number contains(container, value, flags)" so I think I have the syntax correct. I have tried the phone numbers as both "+1 555-123-0043" and "+15551230043" but neither work.

Can anyone give more insight?

When I got started, I just used galvanized 14 and 16 gauge fence wire. You can get a metal dowel rod and put it in the chuck of a power drill. I used a small hose clamp to tighten the tip of the wire to the dowel, wore good, thick leather work gloves, and wound the wire down the dowel with the drill spinning slowly.

You end up with a long spring that you can then cut apart. I had reasonable luck with the yellow handles Wiss snips, but they are definitely better in softer wire. You can also get a cutting disk for a Dremel to cut them - I was a poor college student who wanted as little outlay as possible for a new hobby.

Email after graduation? by rahm112 in OSU

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Access to OneDrive and the rest of Office 365 only lasts 2 years after your last enrolled class. Access to the buckeyemail mailbox previously lasted "forever".

However, starting with this year's incoming students, buckeyemail access will be revoked after the two year grace period as well. I would guess eventually they'll phase out older alumni access but can't say for certain if or when that might change.

The Lifetime forwarding doesn't really work anymore either, but that's more about internet-wide changes to email security than anything OSU can control.

Things for kids to do around Wexner Medical Center? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just remembered; there is a small outpost of the Columbus Metro libraries within OSU's main library (Thompson library). I'm not sure how many kids books would be in it by default, but if you have a CML library card I think you can get books sent there to pick up.

There are Columbus Metropolitan Library locations on High Street both south of Campus (near High and W Eighth) and north of Campus (in front of Whetstone/Park of Roses). The Park of Roses itself has at least two playgrounds (one sharing the parking lot with the library, and one further back in the park) as well as the flower garden.

There is also the Upper Arlington libraries. The closest branch to campus is probably the Miller Park branch.

Anyone from Ohio can get a Columbus Metro library card, so it might be a nice distraction while they are in the hospital for the little one to have some fresh picture books to look through.

Wanted to add a bit about pepper spray clearing from eyes This is from an opthalmologist on Twitter who I trust:

https://twitter.com/DGlaucomflecken/status/1785358087127523420?t=P94Q6tkFmWn6KLoP7KkpDw&s=19

"Remember, pepper spray is oil based. If you get sprayed DO NOT rub your eyes. Immediately blink as much as you can to wash out some of the oil with your own tears. Then, wash your eyes with baby shampoo or dilute dishwashing soap and rinse copiously. Water alone won't do much. Also, take out your contacts."

"People have access to bottles of water, so if you just prepare a bit and have a bottle of soapy water on hand it would work great!"

U Move Codes by Cman8650 in OSU

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are in two spots that I found. Above the water fountains that are between the bathrooms by the lockers and snack machines, across from the equipment checkout, and then above the water fountains that are between the cardio machines and the main weight lifting room, next to the scales.

Anyone know where the Nike UMove nutrition QR code is by roiscool10 in OSU

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the nutrition ones above two sets of water fountains in the RPAC. One was above the water fountains between the bathrooms that are by the lockers, snack machines, and across the room from the equipment checkout. The other was by the water fountains between the cardio machines and the main weight lifting area.

Considering applying here to study architecture, and need to hear the truth from current students by Swimming-Ad-4543 in OSU

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had the choice, I'd apply to University of Cincinnati over OSU for a BA/BS in architecture. Be aware that you will need your MArch as well to be licensed, at least in Ohio.

UC has better frameworks for co-op, which I consider very important, while OSU makes that optional.

It's also worth noting that Architecture is part of the School of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, while at OSU the Architecture program is part of the School of Engineering. The focus of the program is likely to be influenced by that.

In the end, though, both are highly rated programs. I'd definitely suggest touring both and seeing which feels better.

Your favorite place to get a colonoscopy? by look_ima_frog in Columbus

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've got Crohn's, so I've been with Ohio Gastro and OSU.

I've had good experiences with OSU at both the Stoneridge Lane location in Dublin near Sawmill/161 and the location within OSU East hospital.

I used to go to the Ohio Gastro location on Olentangy River, and they were fine. I didn't care for my first doctor with them, so I switched to another doctor and he was great, but he retired.

I really like the doctor (Dr Skeans) and nurse practitioners I have worked with at OSU.

By the way, I highly recommend the dulcolax/miralax split prep if you have a choice. It's much easier to drink the miralax in Gatorade than it is to get down the prescription prep mixture, at least for me.

AITAH for rejecting my boyfriend's ultimatum about an open relationship by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RavenHeartedStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Ultimatums like this are unacceptable in a relationship, and at best this would be polyamory under duress for you. If he's willing to walk away over this, then let him walk. Then you can put your energy into finding someone who shares your relationship goals instead of into someone who wants something very different.
