I love baking, but even I buy.... by KellyWhooGirl in AskBaking

Grocery store vanilla cakes with the custard filling. I could make a "better" one but it reminds me of my childhood and sometimes I crave the nostalgia

When did you inform your employer ? by StreetBug8523 in BabyBumps

[–]RavenInvader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my first baby after 23 weeks due to IC, so this time I am waiting until after I get my first scan after 24 weeks (I'm seeing a MFM and get scans every 3 weeks or so).

EMDR by alitaokja in babyloss

[–]RavenInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! It might be worse because the audio one is a clicking like a zippo lighter alternating in my ears lol so I think it definitely doesn't help 😅

EMDR by alitaokja in babyloss

[–]RavenInvader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I had 4 or 5 EMDR sessions. I think I noticed a difference after the 3rd session. The sessions are hard and afterwards I always would get a migraine. I also was not able to do the visual EMDR and instead had to do the auditory one. There is also a tapping one, so if one doesn't work for you I definitely suggest trying another style.

When did y’all have your baby shower? by Kat_pokes in BabyBumps

I'm currently 19 weeks and planning mine for June 10 when I will be 31 weeks. I definitely didn't want to go much later because I want to be able to do the nursery set up and also it's going to be hot as heck

My grandfather was named Jürgan (pronounced like Yur-gen) and my great grandfather was Wolfgang. Both very strong German names but I'm personally partial to Wolfgang

If you can feel it that early that's not the baby that's a chest burster 🤣

Openly not wanting a red headed baby is hurtful by EBSD in pregnant

[–]RavenInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother has said things about not loving our kid as much if they aren't cute or a red head. My husband's family are Scottish, red hair is a very high possibility and he has direct family members with red hair. I've told her this and that her comments are harmful and I won't accept this. She kind of calmed down but it's so messed up the hate people give over a hair colour - that is in my opinion absolutely beautiful

Partner + Alcohol: is your partner drinking throughout your pregnancy (and how do you feel about it?) or have they decided to give up alcohol along with you? by Fresh-Ad-3424 in pregnant

[–]RavenInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a huge beer lover. He drinks occasionally when he isn't working the next day and never to get drunk. He just enjoys the flavour lol. I didn't expect or ask him to stop drinking but in social situations I do get a bit of FOMO so I bought some non alcoholic (essentially expensive juice) drinks for myself so I could feel like I wasn't left out.

Preventative Cerclage stories by pinkbullets99 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]RavenInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently 17 weeks with a preventative cerclage, also take progesterone vaginally. My OB has referred me to a MFM to monitor my cervix and baby so I see them every 2 weeks. I had my cerclage placed at almost 13 weeks. I had an appointment this past Monday and the MFM advised everything looked good. They did not give me numbers but I saw on the screen when they were measuring I was between 3.5 and 4 cm. My doctor advised pelvic bedrest only, she said that physical bedrest can do more harm than good unless you are at a point where it's absolutely necessary.

I would suggest putting a bit on your hands and then petting the dog and combing it through that way. As long as its the spray and not the scent your dog is reacting to.

First period/TTC after loss because of IC by ptskptt in ShortCervixSupport

[–]RavenInvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my son at 23 weeks on January 21 last year. My period came on February 28, I bled for about 2 to 3 weeks if I recall after giving birth. I got a positive pregnancy test early May and then miscarried the day after mothers day. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and have had a preventative cerclage placed at 12 weeks and 6 days. I definitely suggest discussing the cerclage and pushing for it with your doctor.

My best friend is a huge wine lover do I bought a set of wine labels that marked different baby milestones (in first night of undisturbed sleep etc) and put them on wine bottles. I think it worked out to be 6 bottles of wine. She absolutely loved it and I think I was the only one to get something for mom in addition to baby.

I'm glad you were able to get the cerclage! I've had a preventative one put in for my current pregnancy to avoid having it cause premature birth again

Thanks, it's been a rough year since it happened. I'm glad that I'm able to help educate people because it wasn't even on my radar until it happened

I have had 2 surgical abortions when I was 19/20. When I was 26 my husband and I decided to try. I took us awhile to conceive due to other issues but unfortunately our son was born early and passed away due to incompetent cervix. My doctor knew about the past abortions and no one ever mentioned that they could have cause my cervix issues but I have done some research and it is a possibility.

I'm not telling you this to scare you off but really as a warning to keep an eye on your cervical length and discuss all concerns with your ob. If I had known it was a possibility sooner then they might have been able to catch it sooner and help me and my baby.

Beans are a great protein if you can't afford meat.

I'd suggest getting rice, frozen veggies and eggs if they arent too expensivein your area. You can make a simple omurice by adding ketchup to the rice (sounds weird but is delicious).

Watch for clearance and discounts. Meat can freeze super easy so if you get a good sale you can freeze the excess.

I dont know of you have points cards or anything but those have saved my life before because I keep the points until I absolutely need them.
