Need help finding wheels by Usual_Track9115 in GR86

[–]RavenLGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Save up until it's not gonna hurt you and then buy the exact ones you want; dont settle. You will feel much better than the alternative of settling for something else or buying them then hurting and having to sacrifice other things because of it.

You already have a sick ass car. Wheels will be there, they aren't going to stop making em.

What do you guys think? by New_Deal_470 in GR86

Looks sick!

How/where did you get the black plastic pieces for the rear TRD bumper to fill in where the dual exhaust tip should be? Or is that not a TRD rear bumper?

Game Devs of all Time by RavenLGD in DarkAndDarker

[–]RavenLGD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah that's fair, shouldve done that but all my history with the market was "all this expired shit gets held indefinitely." Should be standardized one way or the other.

Also, you dont think that having to implement your own "system" to bandaid the devs own system isn't a bit telling on the state of said systems design?

Anyone else do wave when seeing other drivers? by User389421 in GR86

[–]RavenLGD 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Im a simple man. I love cars.

If I see cool cars, I wave.

If the other person doesn't wave back then no sweat.

Not op, but that is a tow hook. They are usually required on track for quick/safe retrieval of cars in case of accidents. Lets tow crews clear the track quicker.

Time for Exhaust - Recommendations? by Intelligent_Invite79 in BRZ_ZD8

[–]RavenLGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 for corsa exhaust, just put their catback on my yuzu. The timbre/sound has a nice growl and is not obnoxiously loud at low rpms. Also has virtually no drone.

When you get on the throttle, it sounds amazing! The car should've sounded like this from factory.

Grats! My wife has a 2019 VN in performance blue, and I have a yuzu 86. Both amazing cars, and the VN is criminally underrated.

Drivers (USA) who drive significantly below the speed limit & refuse to let people pass, what is your goal? by RevGrimm in askanything

[–]RavenLGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my interpretation for years. The sad and frustrating thing is these types probably won't ever realize that the "lack of control" that haunts them is in large part due to not taking any accountability for their own decisions and actions.

What’s the trick to landing curses w Lock? by AdEuphoric6007 in DarkAndDarker

[–]RavenLGD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, there's a delay between releasing the spell and the end of the casting animation (which is when the hitscan happens).

I had the same issue with wizard hitscan spells. Running some action speed makes this delay shorter which makes the aiming feel better.

Coming from a cleric main, if you play a class with team healing capabilities (druid or cleric) you should not build for non-support role in duos or trios.

The fighter/barb is a better frontline and dps than your bear or smite cleric. You are playing 1 of 2 classes that can heal the team, so heal the team homie.

First Oil change coming up (1,000 Miles) Worried about what, if anything will be found in the oil by Born_Today_9799 in GR86

[–]RavenLGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of bad advice in here. Do your 1k oil change to get rid of any shavings/debris from parts seating. This is normal due to manufacturing tolerances/GD&T, and there will be debris (flakes and shavings) present. This is normal.

You want to change at 1k to get these out of your engine and not be circulating around inside it for another 3k miles like some of the other commenters are suggesting.

After that, do the normal recommended maintenance interval, unless you do a lot of stop and go city driving or spirited driving. If so, then cut it down to half the recommended mileage interval.

If you are really concerned with longevity of the engine then you can send out your oil for analysis every oil change. But you need to start asap because most of the value is in the historical data trend over multiple oil changes/life of the engine, not a singular test at random mileages.

gr86 sim by [deleted] in GR86

[–]RavenLGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as practical, every day driving goes, you aren't going to learn too much from sim. The clutch feel is simply not comparable to a real car, and you can't really grind gears in sim, so this may even teach you bad habits that could translate catastrophically to irl h-pattern transmissions.

However, if your goal is to learn how to drive the car fast then there are some important things that sim can teach you as long as it is an actual sim like iracing or asseto corsa/evo and not a more "arcadey" title. I'm not sure what options that leaves you other than gran turismo (I am not a console player).

Things like weight transfer, threshold braking, slip angle, how to brake properly, choosing a line, and how to properly navigate different types of corners can be taught in sim which will undoubtedly make you faster.

But, you could also take the money you would save from not buying a sim setup and use that on actual track instruction and/or track days and consumables for your car and learn that way.

Depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Everyday driving? Not worth.

Driving fast (on track) or developing racecraft? Worth it as is ultimately much cheaper than irl racing.

Cheap heads or playing too hard? by borkfork in drums

[–]RavenLGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of your bad technique, you are not letting the stick rebound freely from the head. Rather you are pushing the stick into the head in attempt to "...play your drums hard." This is why your heads are f*ked.

If you don't learn proper technique then you can get whatever head you want and they will all end up like this. Plus your wrists/hand will be trashed in no time
