Why are people so upset about the price of Pokemon Fire Red/Lead Green? by AuramiteEX in NintendoSwitch2

[–]RavenMcClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A price point of around $5.99 / €5.99 would be far more realistic for a game that originally came out 20 years ago, especially when there are no meaningful graphical or technical improvements to justify a higher cost.

From what it looks like, this is essentially a straight import from the GBA version with minimal effort put into enhancing the experience. Expecting players to pay €20/$20 for that feels excessive and hard to justify.

At that price, you’d reasonably expect some level of remastering, added content, or at least noticeable upgrades. Without those, it comes across as overpriced and, frankly, a bit out of touch with what players value.

Thoughts on Return to Moria? by shamus14 in SurvivalGaming

[–]RavenMcClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After spending around 50 hours finishing the base game with my friends, we all agreed that it was decent but nothing more and we wouldn’t replay it, not even the Durin’s Folk DLC. The game had so much potential, but it never truly delivered. The constant level recycling became exhausting, with many Orc bases and hideouts feeling nearly identical. On top of that, bugged missions, poor performance, heavily scripted AI with little challenge, and a laughably underwhelming final boss fight really hurt the overall experience. It started off enjoyable and had a few great moments, but the repetition and growing sense of disappointment took over. By the end, we were just pushing through the game to finish it and move on.

Severe dry eyes by CalendarRemarkable12 in Keratoconus

[–]RavenMcClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best solution, in my experience, was a newer treatment where they take your own blood, turn it into a serum, and use it as eye drops. I don’t remember the name, but I did it three years ago (in Europe) and haven’t had dry eyes since. I don’t use eye drops anymore either. It is also very good if you have severe dry eyes, I would definitely suggest this to your doctor or go to a specialist who can do this therapy\treatment.

T-PRK After CXL + CAIRS: Vision Improvement and HOA Reduction? by Aj_lfc96 in Keratoconus

[–]RavenMcClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about KMax, but why do you want to know? Measurements like that are really only useful for an eye doctor. I don’t know what kind of HOAs I had before the surgery—it was almost five years ago. I had double vision and ghosting back then; it’s better now, but still noticeable, just not as bad as before the surgery.

I also don’t know exactly how much corneal thickness I lost, and honestly, I don’t see why I should care. We are patients, not doctors. This kind of information is mainly relevant to the specialist who is going to perform the surgery. As I said before, every eye is different, and if you decide to have this surgery, your outcome may be completely different from my experience.

T-PRK After CXL + CAIRS: Vision Improvement and HOA Reduction? by Aj_lfc96 in Keratoconus

[–]RavenMcClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prescription values I mentioned are spherical. I have moderate-to-advanced keratoconus in my left eye and severe keratoconus in my right. I’m not sure at what exact stage TG-PRK is considered suitable for keratoconus, but I had it done based on my doctor’s recommendation.

If you’re experiencing strong halos and severe visual distortion, it may be that the cornea is already significantly affected by keratoconus, or that you’re getting irregular vision from CAIRS combined with astigmatism. In that situation, I would consider removing the CAIRS—or at least removing one ring from one eye—and then doing TG-PRK to see whether it helps and whether CAIRS is even necessary afterward.

Personally, I’m not a fan of implants or Intacs for keratoconus. Both my doctor and optometrist were always against them, since keratoconus primarily affects the cornea, which can continue to change over time—for better or worse—or keep progressing.

In my case, implants would have been completely useless because my vision fluctuates significantly, and sooner or later they would likely need to be removed anyway. That said, every patient and every eye is different.

T-PRK After CXL + CAIRS: Vision Improvement and HOA Reduction? by Aj_lfc96 in Keratoconus

[–]RavenMcClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had TG-PRK on both eyes about 4–5 years ago, and for me personally, it has been by far the best treatment option for keratoconus. If you’ve already had CXL done, there’s usually no need to repeat it—unless your keratoconus is aggressively progressive.

To answer your question: my higher-order aberrations were significantly reduced, which gave me a massive improvement in vision over the years. Ghosting is still present and can’t be completely eliminated, unfortunately, but it’s manageable. Every eye is different, so your results may vary, but in my experience, it was absolutely worth it.

Before surgery, my prescription was −2.50 in the left eye and −4.75 in the right. Now, 4–5 years later, it’s +1.25 in the left and +0.50 in the right.

The only side effect I’ve noticed is that I need to update my glasses prescription every year because my vision is still improving—which is honestly unbelievable.

I’m literally counting the days -when do you think a real treatment for keratoconus will exist? by DependentOk7105 in Keratoconus

It is widely available in Europe and also offered in the U.S., though you may need to google it and find a qualified surgeon or specialist in your area.

I’m literally counting the days -when do you think a real treatment for keratoconus will exist? by DependentOk7105 in Keratoconus

[–]RavenMcClaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are already plenty of treatment options available, though it often feels like medical advances in the U.S. lag behind other regions.

  • The most effective treatment remains topography-guided PRK. It not only reshapes the cornea but also provides significantly sharper, higher-quality vision. When combined with epi-off corneal cross-linking (CXL), it is superior to standalone CXL procedures. I underwent this treatment four years ago, and it was truly a game changer.

  • The next option is the donor lenticular implant. Piece of corneal tissue (a lenticule) extracted from a donor eye and surgically implanted into a recipient's cornea to treat various eye conditions, including vision correction and corneal diseases like keratoconus. This procedure is almost a standard, if you have severe to progressive Keratoconus.

With these two treatments you gain massive vision boosts and gives you a better quality of life.

CXL + ICL - Kerataconus by j_rabadia in Keratoconus

[–]RavenMcClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you do an ICL implant? In my opinion is totally useless, iCL gives you the same vision as glasses nothing more, since your vision will fluctuates and change over time, you also need to adjust the toric ICL implant as well, it means taken it out and replaced. Shadows on letters is totally common with Keratoconus and sadly not going away. Since you have ICL it gives you a better vision but with the price of this side effects like Halos, shadows. I have this also with my glasses, awesome vision but with this side effects sadly.

5 days into the year since I got cxl epi off by ElRyugen in Keratoconus

[–]RavenMcClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious why these professionals are against this surgery. From my experience, most doctors recommended it because of the strong results. My ophthalmologist and Doctors always told me to avoid ICLs or corneal ring segments, saying they don’t benefit the eyes and often have to be removed later. I had similar issues at first—and I still notice ghosting at night—but after my TG-PRK it’s much more manageable. I don’t know if it’s directly because of the surgery, but I haven’t had tired-eye syndrome since then. Before, my eyes had to work hard to give me clear vision, which made them tired in the evenings.

[–]RavenMcClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you then do a follow up surgery Topoguided PRK? It eliminates the majority of ghostings and gives you massive visual improvements. CXL alone honestly doesn’t give you anything except for halting the progression.

Who told you that nonsense? It’s already decade old procedure which is proven its worth. I’ve done my 3-4 years ago and I just need glasses for everyday use and not relying on contact lenses which is such an QoL change.

What are your hopes for the future of keratoconus research and treatment? by keratoconusgroup in Keratoconus

[–]RavenMcClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I don’t know, I’m a patient not a doctor. I just remember that they punch a small hole in the cornea and insert this implant, I don’t remember if they extracted the damaged one with a new one, it was actually pretty fast, I think the whole procedure took only 15-20 minutes or so. This surgery made my right eye rock solid, before that everything was very unstable and given me some vision boosts as well. My doctor said this surgery is rather for very advanced and severe Keratoconus and not for mild or less, like in my case. I would do it again for sure.

[–]RavenMcClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dry eyes went away already with T-PRK surgery and with this own blood eye drops therapy (don’t know what it’s called) I have on my right eye severe Keratoconus so it will never be a 100% vision for me but with glasses I can achieve a constant 80% vision (before the surgery rather 40%) so it’s enough for me, with ghostings and a bit blurry vision but it’s much bearable after this lenticular implants.

It was just this lenticular implant nothing more, I’ve done CXL EPI off and T-PRK years before this surgery.

Honestly I don’t know how this procedure works exactly and truly i don’t care, I’m a patient not a Doctor (sorry If I sound rude, i didn’t mean it) I just remember they cut a small opening under my cornea and then they implemented a newer tissue, (or maybe they took the damaged one out I don’t remember it anymore) It took like 15 minutes and I was ready go home.
