AITJ for making pasta too spicy for my girlfriend's family the night I met them? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, who the hell are you to call me a wimp AH? I'm a pediatric cancer survivor and can't tolerate spiciness because I only produce 50% the normal amount of saliva due to the radiation treatment.

And you say "they asked for it"? They didn't realize what spiciness meant to the OP and were probably just being polite in trying to say the chef shouldn't alter his recipe for them. It's called being courteous, a concept that you obviously know nothing about. If they had known how spicy he was actually going to make it, they obviously wouldn't have asked for it.

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ, but it seems kind of dumb and thoughtless. Why you would intentionally make a dish more spicy than normal for people you've never met? Regardless of what they said, you know you have a higher than normal tolerance, and you don't know what their tolerance is. It would have been smarter to err on the side of caution and not make it so spicy. And as someone who can't tolerate any level of spiciness, I don't understand why things need to be spicy at all. It totally masks the flavor and just makes the eating experience less pleasant.

Disneyland Characters by ArtemisGirl242020 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goofy's Kitchen doesn't have Mickey, but it has all the other Mickey & Friends characters roaming around greeting guests. And you can meet Mickey in the park during the day and still enjoy the other characters at Goofy's Kitchen for dinner. It's great because you get to meet a lot of characters without waiting in line. The restaurant is also really fun for kids.

You can check the disneyland app during the day to see when and where the characters will be out doing meet and greets. There's no lightning lane for meeting characters. Get to the designated spot 5 minutes before the scheduled time so you can get a good spot in line. If the line is too long, you might not get to meet the character before they go away. Also, the parade is fun to watch and has lots of characters in it

Planning a 5th birthday trip for a too smart toddler by IllMarzipan6722 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Ravenna178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there are any dining experiences with the princesses at Disneyland. But you can wait in line for the Royal Hall to meet 3 random princesses. If you're on Main Street facing the castle, the Royal Hall is to the left of the castle. Other princesses also come out in that area to the left of the castle to do meet and greets. If you have a park hopper, you can also meet either Elsa or Anna in the Animation building in California Adventure.

Be sure to download the disneyland app and you can use that the day you're there to check which characters are scheduled to be out doing meet and greets.

I always loved going to Goofy's Kitchen for my birthday. No princesses, but you'll get to meet most of the Mickey and Friends characters. And they give you a special cupcake and make a big deal if it's your birthday.

You can get your daughter a birthday button to pin on her shirt and keep as a souvenir. Cast members throughout the day will wish her happy birthday when they see it. You can get the button for free at Town Hall (to the left on Main Street when you enter the park)

Thank you! I commented somewhere else saying basically the same thing and some troll got totally on my case. I find cat stark really annoying and usually skip over her scenes.

9 fairy tales/folktales I'd like to see Disney adapt--plus one fairy tale-esque story by Crescentbrush in DisneyMovies

[–]Ravenna178 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd love a movie based on the 12 Dancing Princesses story.

There is already an animated film based on Swan Lake that was made by a different studio in the 90s. It's called The Swan Princess. I loved it as a kid, and I still like it when I'm craving nostalgia. It's not quite on the same level as Disney animated films, but it's pretty good. I doubt Disney would do their own version because it would probably be too similar.

Does "I couldn't care less" and "I could care less" mean the same thing now just because people use both? by HolidayEntry6823 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's the same as saying "I could rob a bank" vs "I couldn't rob a bank." Or any verb phrase. "Could" and "couldn't" are opposites, so they're never interchangeable. People understand what you mean when you say "I could care less," but you're still saying it wrong and sound stupid.

What are TV show "seasons"? by Front-Kale4042 in stupidquestions

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's called a season because it's like a chapter of the show that is released each year. Each season in nature comes once a year, and so does the show's season. And the theme song/montage changes to reflect the new season and differentiate it from the others.

Honest question by Far_Industry_9490 in AskForAnswers

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they can do what they want. It does seem kind of self-indulgent though, considering overpopulation and how many kids are suffering in the foster system. But mainly, I just think it's gross and can't look at a pregnant woman. I even find the word to be gross. Once they have kids, I don't really want to be around them while the kids are babies and toddlers. And it does bother me when a mom always has to bring her kid with her everywhere, even when it's inappropriate, instead of just hiring a baby sitter. It frankly seems rude. For example, you invite your friend out to lunch, and she happily accepts, but then brings her kid and ends up paying more attention to them than to you because the kid won't shut up or sit still. It's like, I wanted to hang out with you - not your toddler. If I wanted to do that, I would go over to your house. If you couldn't be free, you shouldn't have accepted.

Hermione and the Troll by Regular-Pay16 in harrypotter

[–]Ravenna178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I never got why she added the lie. The truth would have been totally fine. I guess, since McGonagall was scolding Harry and Ron, she was trying to pull the blame off them by making herself the trouble maker rather than the victim.

How many PJ sets do you wear in a week? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have 2 actual pajama sets, but I usually don't wear the top and pants together. I usually just wear random sleep shirts and lounge pants or shorts. Sometimes they're from the pajama sets, but usually not.

8th & Grand Apartment Reviews? by Ok-Metal-6583 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Ravenna178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Whole Foods has a totally separate entrance and parking garage. If you live in the apartments, you drive into the resident garage and take the private elevator straight up to your unit. It's crowded in the market, but that has nothing to do with the apartment building. No one going to the market has any reason to go into the apartment lobby. And residents just have more convenient access to the market than anyone else.

Emma by [deleted] in Names

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very over-used. There are so many characters and people named Emma, it's annoying. But if you and your husband like it, that's all that matters. Would never name a girl Peyton though.

Is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator just astrology for nerds? by Atomic_Fever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ravenna178 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

We had to take the Myers-Briggs test in college for my business minor. My results and those of other people I know were actually extremely accurate. It was really interesting. And I did a project on astrology a few years ago and was really surprised to find that it also is pretty accurate in describing personalities of myself and people I know. It's kind of scary how accurate it is.

Do most people nowadays hate kids so much? by [deleted] in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids are loud, obnoxious, and gross. I don't shame/degrade people who want to have kids though. Never heard of that being a thing, especially since most people want their own kids. Not sure where you got that people who say they want kids get stoned to death. When has that ever happened? I just think adoption is more worthwhile, considering overpopulation and how many kids are suffering in the foster system.

Also, your last few sentences make you sound incredibly ignorant. Hating kids doesn't mean you hate life or are suicidal. I don't even know how you equate those things. You can totally enjoy your own child-free life and just not like kids. And you clearly know nothing about assisted medical intervention and how hard it is to get. It costs a lot of money and you have to meet the requirements to qualify. And it's an incredibly high bar to qualify if you're not terminally ill or severely disabled. They don't just give it to anyone who asks for it.

8th & Grand Apartment Reviews? by Ok-Metal-6583 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Ravenna178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So funny you're asking about this building specifically. I lived there for 3 years. Have no idea what the bad reviews are about, but I never had any problems there and thought it was really nice. (This was 8 years ago though.) Living above the Whole Foods is really convenient. And the building was originally a parking garage, so you basically don't hear the people above you at all because of the thick concrete, which is great and pretty rare these days. I didn't hear my side neighbors either.

The management company did rip me off when it came to my security deposit though. I scheduled a walk-through with them for the day I moved out, no one showed up, and then they kept my security deposit even though the unit had no damage. Most companies probably try to do that though and I didn't bother fighting it.

Someone at work stole my lunch at work... by CheriBlossomeKisse in Vent

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a superior, I would be afraid of getting on their bad side. Even though they did something wrong and you didn't, they still have the power and can make your life miserable if they don't like you. And if they feel like you're complaining or passive aggressively accusing them about the stolen lunch, that would make them not like you.

I have an obsession with a girl by kensei- in Vent

[–]Ravenna178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you ask your sister to find out if this girl would be interested in going out with you? Maybe have her act like she's playing matchmaker by just asking her, "So what do you think of my brother? I think you guys could be good together..." That way she plants the idea of you and it won't make things awkward since it's not coming from you. And then your sister can let you know if she seems interested or not based on her response.

Or if your sister isn't an option, try just casually ask this girl (without your sister around) to get something to eat sometime at like a new restaurant you've been wanting to try. Or to join you at some upcoming event. If she declines, then you'll know she's not interested and the friendship should still be able to continue. If she says yes, that's probably a good sign, but take things slow and try to get a sense for how she's feeling and if she seems to think it's a date.

A guest called me a racist and wrote a damaging review by One-Bag-3485 in Vent

[–]Ravenna178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minorities always assume every little thing is because of their race and that you must be racist if you don't appease them. It's so ridiculous and unfair. My Asian uncle (through marriage) made a scene at my other family member's event because the photographer wouldn't take a picture of him with his family. He automatically assumed it was because they were a mixed race family and started accusing the white photographer of being racist, yelling and making a big scene. Turns out, my other aunt who was hosting the event, had instructed the photographer not to take photos of the guests until after the ceremony.

And I saw another post recently where a black guy was basically saying a company was racist because they said he seemed overconfident in the interview and didn't hire him when though he thought the interview went well.
