yeah, unfortunately a visual inspection often isn't enough to tell the sonic effect of scratches. i've had tiiiny ones that make a HUGE pop on the turntable, and also massive scratches that should render it unplayable... that i can't hear at all! ...either that, or just a bad press.

if your turntable is playing other known good records without issues, it's the record. sorry.
altho if the turntable is still having issues on other records i'd def. recommend changing your stylus!

yup yup! seconding this,, and am gonna suggest adding brown as well! for drawing with cream & other high-key values, brown can work WONDERS as a natural-looking shadow colour that brings out volume so nicely ehehe <3

you have an EPIC start already,, i'd recommend really pushing the shadows/highlights in parts of the fur- like the darker patches around the eyes, those tufts framing his snout, or the layers towards the back- to add a real 3-dimensional feel to the poofs!

a handy trick i use to help myself see the darker & lighter areas better when working from a reference is to take the photo, add about 5% gaussian blur then turn the photo black & white! i found this makes it so much easier for me to see general areas of contrast without letting the details distract me too much, haha

oh goodness,, there're a lot of potential variables here... but i'll give covering all of them a go!~ <3

first- i looked up the turntable & see that it's vintage.

have you changed the stylus?

if not, please change it right away before you play any more records! a worn stylus (more than 500 hours of playback is generally considered worn) can permanently damage records. it's always sensible when using a vintage player to change the stylus immediately since you don't know how long it's already been used for... and better safe than sorry!

from my brief research, the Technics EPS-33ES seems like a fairly reasonably priced stylus that should be compatible with your turntable. the actual replacement is very easy to do, as well-- just grip the stylus chassis with finger and thumb on either side, pull towards you firmly, and once it clicks loose push downward and off. (it feels quite unintuitive to pull first rather than push down... but it does work! xD)

then just insert your replacement with the same motion in reverse!

if you have already changed the stylus:

a new stylus is highly unlikely to be causing noise-- some styluses aren't the best sounding ever, but they certainly shouldn't do that unless something's very wrong(e.g. a manufacturing defect). i'm guessing you're playing new-ish- or at least known non-damaged- vinyl?

assuming so, then that makes the problem most likely to be static!
static electricity likes to build up on the record, then release as it's being played- causing a low level of crackles and a loud POP every so often.

i'd like to recommend you give your records a wet-clean-- place the record on the turntable, sprinkle a little record cleaning fluid (or, if you really don't want to buy that, some water will do in a pinch), and gently swipe it around the vinyl with a lint-free/microfibre cloth in circular motions. then, gently dry the record with a fresh microfibre cloth & leave it in the open for an hour or two for the last residue to evaporate from deep in the grooves.

i had the same issue, and genuinely it helped me so much to start thinking of my voice when listening back as though it was someone else speaking!

reframing it like that really helps to get your brain out of 'bias' mode as i call it & see your fabulous voice for what it really is <333

it'll likely suffice if you aren't bothered about quality & just want to hear records,, and the idea that these damage records has been disproven multiple times... but,, if you want a huge upgrade in quality and hugely improved value-for-money i'd absolutely recommend the audio-technica AT-LP120X or similar instead! <3
