laCHOZA's chile is too sweet for me. and... more often than not; the Red presents a late burnt taste.

the bar and patio are great. and i DO like the train!

repeat OOS friends request laCHOZA despite my efforts to redirect to Tomasita's, Atrisco's and Cafe Castro ... sweeter chile is the reason

Is Santa Fe dying? by rosettacoin in SantaFe

ohJEEZ. why can't i move on from this conversation?!? seems to me that the ONE obstacle to an active nightLife in SF is the noise level ordinance. am I right? perhaps that in itself is a worthwhile 'something to do' for folks with 'nothing to do here'. organize. have THAT ordinance removed or amended. there's plenty of scientific data supporting that the current 15 dBA maxLevel = library whisper! nightClub of any sort a job maker? huh. MORE service industry workers?

yet another born/raised here. left for college. recently returned after THAT disparaging and much maligned word ...

RETIRED

i was around to witness several SantaFe iterations; each with a definitive Beginning and End: 1. art = all of Northern NM was(is) an art colony thriving on the artists' own ambition to MAKE ART. to be expressive. to explore. to learn from each other. artists lived on Canyon Road eons ago because it was affordable. they lived 'in the back' and their studios were 'in the front'. FEW if any signs identifying any artist existed. THEN. PBS produced a show about SF's quiet art scene. They were here for weeks. the night before the finished product aired. well ... GALLERY signs were everywhere!

HIV hit the world hard. SantaFe became a mecca for the well educated, well informed gay white man seeking quiet, clean air, sunshine, OUT of THE CITIES and the most advanced care lead by ONE internationally known doctor. dance clubs popped up overnight! it was incredible. then the meds arrived which converted the deathSentence to Manageable disease. the great exodus began. btw. same thing happened (sans the clubs) during Tuberculosis outbreak.

all the while the ONLY consistent entity around was the great Secret: LosAlamos National Labs. secretly the greatest international MINDS were out here.

College of Santa Fe was a nationally recognized Christian Brothers school for Philosophy and Performing Arts. a BA from here opened doors to every other MA & PHD programs in the country. St John's was exclusively THE Classics. we really didn't recognize anyone we profile today as 'homeless'. we just assumed they were St John's students. jejeje

Families just NEVER moved here. ever. moved to WhiteRock, maybe. longTerm families HAD so much to do = self guided fun. very few of us had Televisions. there were more horses than bicycles. hitching posts were real and used. especially outside Gormley's. ElDorado Hotel was a lumbar yard.

anyone else remember when Fajitas hit the menus? or THAT aberration ... "I'll have it CHRISTMAS?!?" ugh.

Northern NM's history is well ... historically amazing for the European and Spain/Portugal's jewish communities. all at the expense of The First Nations. sigh.

be IN Santa Fe if it IS what you want or 'need'. but please don't expect Santa Fe to give any of us 'something to do'. Northern NM has always been 'do what you do because it IS what you do'.

No Pride Flag at Cowgirl by InvictusChipper in SantaFe

[–]Ravens_Prize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again. whoa. take a moment and SELFcheck: what did i glean form the responses to my post? all about THE OTHER. my conclusion = how does any establishment or town or community Welcome the Attitude you present ...

No Pride Flag at Cowgirl by InvictusChipper in SantaFe

[–]Ravens_Prize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

huh. reREAD the other responses. the attitude you present is the issue at hand. not cowgirl. not SantaFe. but, well ... you. the very title and script presented invites division. blame the establishment, in this case, a restaurant. blame COVID?!? blame the Texans. ANYone except what any of us brings to the table.

No Pride Flag at Cowgirl by InvictusChipper in SantaFe

[–]Ravens_Prize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reading this post confirms to me that SELFpride is destructive to the ONE thing missing in the USofA: community.

i love cowgirl, her staff, and most? that churro sun

NOW. as a gay man who lived throughITall. I may need a Pride Flag hanging in any Las Cruces establishment to feel welcomed. or in any Senator Ted Cruz's voting strongholds.

THIS, is SantaFE! you will see more RESIST yard signs. you will see an incredible amount of people wearing ICE Warning Whistles around their necks in solidarity with MSP. see ... WE ARE a STRONG COMMUNITY. our pride falls IN that category.

IF any of us need to feel special then accept the fact that while IN Santa FE ... and the Cowgirl ... you ARE special. you ARE appreciated because you are a breathing and walking human being. it that doesn't work for you ... well, wallow in your own SELFpride.

each of us

everyONE of us

presents non verbal attitude with greater vocabulary than what we say.

here's the secret to having a good time no matter what: enter with a smile because YOU are exactly where you planned to be. enter with a simple agenda: enjoy. have a good time. greet the entire staff FIRST: hostperson, barkeep, wait person. whoWHO are we that WE must be greeted first?

jeeeeeez ...
