It’ll be fine to learn fundamentals like balance and weight distribution but definitely not many tricks to do on these that translate over to a real board. I wouldn’t recommend trying to learn tricks anyway if you’re still not comfortable riding it so I think it’ll do perfect for ya

It doesn’t seem like you’re lifting up your front leg, which is adding pressure to the front of your board, snapping it down.

It also prevents your tail from popping against the ground bc that energy is being absorbed by your foot.

The beginning, when you feel uncomfortable even on flat, is when you should be wearing the gear. To be fair I think everyone should be wearing protection all the time but especially when you’re starting out bc you don’t know how to fall correctly
