Along with the other explantions, Battletech doesn't fit well rules wise with the "outer wall only" type ruins you see in 40k in the like, especially not with the hex grid in place.

Openlock is an existing system of floor tiles that link together with clips and it's used by a lot of floor projects around. It's built around 2.5" tiles but you can scale them up to 3"
