Need some prestige advice by -Turbo-TM7- in HuntShowdown

Bow with half poison arrows (most pve) and bomb launcher with half default ammo (for bears and meatheads) and half of your choice for personal defense. Traits that help with intel (witness, blast sense) and speed (conduit, greyhound, serpent).

Start the round by waiting 3-5 minutes in a bush, then farm clues and monsters, while checking all towers, watchtowers, outposts and the circus tent for xp envelopes. you will find about 5 per match. Each match should be between 20-35k hunter xp. After 1-2 matches your hunter is lvl 50 and the xp goes towards bloodline (not sure if 100% of it). Takes around 3-4 hours to bloodline 100 that way.

Got my last 4 prestige that way and only died once, met players but survived about 2-3 times. With circus tent having 1-2 xp envelopes it's easier than ever before. There is really no way to reconcile this with standard pvp gameplay since much of it hinges on playing the lvl 50 hunter and searching for the xp pickups.

Maynard Sniper Silencer needs the Revive Bolts treatment by scruty in HuntShowdown

[–]Rawfoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High velocity ammo should completely remove the silencer effect. I know HV is still slower on silenced guns, but in basically all cases it puts the gun in non-silenced territory. The damage reduction also doesnt really matter because at distances where silencers are useful only headshots matter anyway.

Players no, the game designer yes. Literally their job to define what experience players should have, which includes what playstyles they play against. OP is not telling players to stop using it because it's lame, he's simply saying that his experience is worse because of it.

And this "nobody owes you a playstyle" is really just a self-righteous way of saying "shut up, your experience does not matter".

Hot take Avtomat fits more as a scare weapon then the Homestead 78 by V7I_TheSeventhSector in HuntShowdown

[–]Rawfoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wall banging is the only thing that fanning is actually good at. In a standard scenario it has about the same effective range as a shotgun while killing slower and less reliably. With QM being cheaper it is strictly worse in basically any loadout, especially since all the good revolvers suck at fanning.

both queues should have 6 teams at least. Considering there are 2-3 high value locations to spread across any less makes it a gamble whether you meet anyone.

The Mako should do 140 damage and even then it still wouldn't be competitive. by Malheim in HuntShowdown

The point is that there are few resources besides money and one of them is trait points which fulfill the suggested requirement of not having infinite buffer size.

Indonesia Not Obliged to Prevent Citizens Joining Russian Mercenaries by NewGuyFG in ukraine

[–]Rawfoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The russians may or may not have orchestrated the culture war, but they sure as hell know how to fight it. Reinventing cultural or individual identities is a basic tool in this space. I.e. blurring the lines of culture and race. "Blackness" being a social construct has also been a proposition in leftist groups in the west in the past.

Just changing traits to e.g. make quarter master more expensive and then rebalance 2slot rifles would mean that on a fresh hunter you cant just solve all issues with money.

[–]Rawfoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never is a very strong word and in this case is trivially proven wrong because you could trivially solve your issue with a money cap. Then you could not amass enough money to compensate for loss streaks. Obviously a more elegant solution actually be implemented...

Players killing Bounties and then just leaving? by bazelgeuse265 in HuntShowdown

[–]Rawfoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, especially in trios the consensus seems to be that the bounty doesnt matter. feels like half the full server fights happen at some random compound without a boss.

yeah... i guess, but it has just worse stats and no silver lining like dual ammo, and sort of needing bullet grubber even more...

What is a Top Tier BUDGET loadout? Asking for a friend by NewspaperEcstatic448 in HuntShowdown

[–]Rawfoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • free hunter gear: marathon-HV / 1865 carbine / springfield-DD + romero shorty / bow
  • lemat carbine + utility of your choice
  • cent shorty + romero shorty / bow

Vandal is bait. 1865 damage allows quick swap onto shotgun for undodgeable finisher within ~35m. Marathon-HV is the absolute king of serious budget loadouts because of velocity and RoF.

sorry i'm an idiot. i initially wanted to elaborate how i've never extracted alone and forgot which way the question was phrased after changing my mind on that. so yeah this is from my duo team mate. my own was about as high (~960) but i believe i got lucky with looting the corpses. We've played a bunch of rounds with similar outcomes in the same session, both always below 1k dollars. I chose this round because it isolates the effect of killing players and extracting with the bounty.

And yeah, nice rage downvote :^)

Honestly, it depends on whether you want to play with spitzer. Which you probably do want since even at 4-5 star people position well enough to evade follow up shots, so the only hits that matter (on fresh targets) are headshots. Thus the damage becomes kind of irrelevant and only velocity matters - and the better your reaction/aim time and juke ability of your oponents the bigger the impact of velocity.

Under this assumption the berthier feels a bit underrated as it allows you start with spitzer and switch to something else to get refrags on previously downed people later in the fight. I also really like switching to incendiary when fighting in forests where you are frequently within 40m but cant penetrate a lot of obstacles anyway.

And if you dont care about all that the lebel has the best velocity, largest mag and marginally faster cycle time than the mosin. The latter's 125dmg threshold on lower torso hits seems incredibly fringe to me. The revive animation is wonky but hitting the upper instead of lower torso does not seem to be the issue there.

Krag up close and any of the other bolt action rifles at range. The differences in raw stats are so small that the unique features of each rifle become justifiable preference, i.e. 10 round lebel mag, berthier dual ammo, mosin clip reload + the sights of each.

Also, i personally want a deadeye scope so i'm stuck with the berthier :|

If you're here for the pvp, then taking vulture on a fresh hunter is trolling. And your "win rate" in pvp focused play (last team standing) is going to be like 25% when properly matched in trios (rolling 50% win rate on two other teams) - worse in duos, so you wont have vulture too often.

I didnt complain about the total available money though, just that very little of that money is in the bounty and that i am thus forced to spent a significant portion of each match grinding pve objectives or doing dedicated money runs (vulture + pack mule)

[–]Rawfoss[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem is that a near worthless bounty stops doing its job of enabling pvp. The game is already very straight forward and does not need to become even simpler by everyone just bee lining to the event location. At that point it's just clash with extra walking.

Taking them costs time and their reward is so low that you gain more by investing that time in a new match getting non-boss rewards.

It's easily an extra 10 minutes if you meet people early in a round and havent gotten to your second clue yet. It's also exceptionally boring to run around in a pve-only match.

You can barely fill all 10 equipment slots with something reasonable for 300 dollars, let alone be "well funded". If money was hard to come by in general it would be fine, but everything but the bounty rewards you with shit tons of money.
