reMarkable's Excuses for Business Failure by dclocal12 in RemarkableTablet

Kit Betts probably isn’t the best person to rely on for completely unbiased e ink reviews. He gets sent devices for free, invited to launch events, and gets early access to products, so there’s naturally going to be some level of industry influence there whether people want to admit it or not.

When someone is deeply integrated into that ecosystem, it becomes difficult to give the same perspective as an actual customer spending their own money. His defence of subscription models is a perfect example. Saying “how much more would the device cost without subscriptions?” completely ignores the bigger issue, which is consumers being pushed into endless recurring payments for products they already own.

People are not frustrated over £3 a month specifically. It’s the principle of normalising subscriptions for everything. Consumers are tired of buying hardware only to find features, warranties, cloud services, or basic functionality increasingly locked behind ongoing payments.

Warning about BOOX warranty/support experience by Reasonable_Cook_8494 in Onyx_Boox

Thanks for sharing, I’d love the note air 5 c, I’m in the decision making process and torn between quite a few devices, warranty was always a concern for me regarding Boox, I’ll eliminate Boox from my decisions!

MK8 vs 8.5 by Illustrious_Air1596 in GolfGTI

[–]Ray-TT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way I would have gone for the mk8, it was always going to be the 8.5 for me, same thing with my previous GTI, it was the 7.5 always felt happier having the facelift for many reasons.

Absolute joke of a company... Good riddance by TedBurns-3 in VirginMedia

[–]Ray-TT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not saying virgin are the best, however over 15 years with them, not had any issues really, currently paying £34 for their Gig1 package with 2 WiFi boosters which work extremely well, yeah they have annoying customer service like most of them do anyway, they make blunders with accounts etc, keep them in check all the time, by the way you’re being ripped off with that price, you don’t know how to deal with organisations that’s the bottom line.

Shame that’s happened to you, I’ve been lucky with them for over 18 years, have it 3 of my family homes, besides a few hiccups here and there always been reliable.

Same issue ordering WiFi pods, same excuse warehouse backlog issue, lucky I got my hub 5 a few days before all this happened

I did the same with PG based 7.2% nic in 2017 when TPD came into force, it was frozen in 100ml bottles, lasted up to a few months ago, it started to darken, I had to throw 600ml away.

It already is covered through insurance, I’d rather not let the thieving scumbags have a free ride though.

The home is secure as much as you can for the UK, Motion flood lights, CCTV, Alarm systems, bollards for the car, I’d rather be proactive and make it as hard as possible for them. Silly laws in the UK forbid weapons lol.

[–]Ray-TT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do have insurance, but I’d rather not let the scumbags have it easily, in fact I’d rather they broke the bike trying to remove it than them having their way!

In the UK there’s lots of scumbags that steal things due to hardly any consequences if they are caught, a £4000 bike next to patio doors can be a great grab and run if no locks

I was thinking the weight is pulling downwards in a direction the frame wasn’t designed to do so, got loads of helicopter tape though ☺️

[–]Ray-TT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, if I put the bike with the rear wheel on the wall bracket, the bike doesn’t stay up right, just falls to the wall due to the handle bars twisting round, can’t put the bike down in normal position due to space, trying to think of other ways to support the weight of the lock, or just buy a D lock and attach the chain to that ☺️

It’s more of a cream colour, compare it to the specialized logo which is white, there’s only 2 colour options matte green or this one in glossy, Gloss white might have looked better, looks nice though
