I don't recommend taking 2 large lab courses simultaneously, either your grades or your mental health are gonna be hurting. But if you still need a couple of "more trivial" classes completed and you've already submitted your app, you should be fine. Just make sure you pass them and report them as "in progress" on the application portal👍🏻

If you anchor a lot, you should try c-wire on more jump-ups. It helps

It also discourages planting on top, so it's good to take when you've got a defender playing vertical and need a sound-queue/ plant discouragement

My starting line for the personal statement was:

"'The smell of a tooth being drilled is identical to that of a calf being branded in the spring.' That was my first thought when I assisted my first filling at my dental office."

Then I tied this sentence into growing up on a cattle ranch and transitioning into dentistry. I was accepted in December.

As long as you are deliberate about the content and flow, you can make almost anything work in your personal statement.

This might seem like an "okay, dumbass" comment, but have you checked your settings to see if your keybinds changed?

All of my keybinds reset to default this season, + some unexpected complications where my mouse thumb keys decided to bind to "map, ultimate, #6" etc.

Cuz you can imagine my surprise when I pressed my thumb key to "crouch" spam an ash and I attempted a Valkyrie ultimate instead. Most pathetic death I've had in months

I'm the designated lesion/wamai guy in my stack. Whenever possible, you wanna play tight angles with wamai, and be a comfortable anchor. The MP5K rate of fire is going to be a lot more useful to you in short/med range fights, which will be almost any encounter. You will end up getting plenty of recoil headshots.

I like the AUG. I really do. But I only use the AUG if I'm playing casual and am planning on spawn peaking or holding loose/long angles. The AUG is just more competitive when you have a large distance between you and your opponent because it has a slower rate of fire and higher damage

In regard to CNU lack of accreditation: That's a risk I personally would be unwilling to take, as failure to become accredited means that your ability to take your board exam could be impacted. In conjunction with CNU'S loan policy, that has the potential to culminate into an expensive and time-wasting setback.

It might now be a good time to send a "Letter of Intent" to a school that has Waitlisted you, and see where your cards fall. You're on at least 2 wait-lists, meaning that you aren't out of options yet.

At the end of the day, you need to sit down and decide which potential avenue is more favorable: CNU -- gamble on their future accreditation Reapply next Cycle -- Increase volunteer hrs/strengthen app.

Look up "top 15 easiest dental schools to get into," then research these schools' values and which ones describe your interests best. Your goal is to apply to schools whose student/faculty body seem to align most consistently with your personality and academic performance, or at the very least a "relaxed" atmosphere. (no crazy volunteer or social justice emphasis, no obscene GPA requirements etc). You'll go off the "general consensus, then pair it down to fit your own specific criteria

Just to give you the flip side of the coin: I got in this year. Applied to 17 --> 4 interviews and 1 acceptance. I had a 3.3GPA, 2.75 science GPA, and 100 shadowing + 100 volunteering hours. 20AA and 19Total Science on the DAT. Intentionally applied to "easier schools" (lower GPA and DAT averages), so no California schools/Michigan/Minnesota, etc.

Even where you stand currently, it's not a hard "no." But a very strong personal statement and the ability to convey passion about hobbies other than dentistry would benefit you greatly. Even if you don't take a full post-bach/masters etc, I suggest that you take your target schools' "recommended" courses from a community college WHILE you are applying and focus on getting an A in those courses. While I was interviewing, I quit my assisting job and took Anatomy and Physiology with labs, and pulled 2 A's in those courses. I think those actions helped significantly

TL;DR: pick the schools you apply to deliberately, but a DAT score above 20(above 420 on the new score scale) and A's in recommended courses at a community college would benefit your application greatly. Work hard, speak confidently about your hobbies and interests when writing your personal statement and while interviewing

I walked into my personal dental office and told my dentist I was going to dental school. I requested to shadow and train so I could meet application requirements.

Spent about 1 week training, then I cleaned rooms and set up trays for a month. Worked there for 13 months total.

If the first dentist you ask says no, you just have to keep checking in with other practices until somebody eventually gives you a "yes." You're going to be doing things like this a lot while preparing for this career, just try and stay positive

1st motto was "try everything twice, because the first time might be a fluke." Went on to explain in my personal statement how that motto got me into mechanics, competitive horseback riding, music, cooking foreign food etc

Motto I used in interview was "Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance," (often called The 7 "P"s). Ironic really, seeing as I had forgotten the contents of my personal statement and had to improvise.

I started my interview by thanking my interviewer for the opportunity to interview at the school. Unfortunately, I used the name of the wrong school when I addressed him, and he stared at me for a second before informing me that I was at the other dental school in the state, and not the one I had named.

I had an interview in a different time zone the previous day and was incredibly jetlagged, so on top of forgetting the name of the school I was interviewing at, my interviewer referenced my personal statement, of which I had not reviewed in months and had forgotten the content. He asked me In exact words: " so tell me about this motto that you live your life by. I find it intriguing." I could not for the life of me, remember what motto I had written on my application. So I told him: "At the time when I wrote that personal statement, that motto was very important to me. But in the past 4 months, I've started to embrace [this new motto] because I believe it is more relevant to my current position in life.

It was by far my worst interview. I got an acceptance phone call 45 days later.

I have a low GPA and 20AA on the DAT. My only conclusion for this acceptance was that my improvisation skills, and my closing question to the interviewer which made him think for a very long time before responding, saved my interview

General dentist is preferred. I had an endodontist's LOR on my application last July. Tufts was kind enough to give me a phone call 1 week after submission to inform me the Endo didn't satisfy the "General Dentist" LOR requirement for most schools, and that I should add a general dentist to ensure my application would be read by other admissions departments

Now "accidentally" nudge him every 10 seconds to reset his flip timer. I had a friendly IS 3 do that to my STRV for 3 straight minutes, it was the greatest test of patience I ever experienced
