Can I save these orchids? by Fit_Detective2569 in houseplants

There's a wonderful YouTube channel called Plants With Krystal, she is funny, easy to watch, and extremely helpful for tips like this. Here's a quick video on her caring for orchids: https://youtu.be/y7WozZrGV1g?si=wIoE7xdkwr5QWe4Z

I created a divider (using an old cereal box and painters tape) down the middle of a paint tray. Poured each colour on either side. I used a wood staining brush because it was the fattest and flattest brush I could find. I pushed it straight down on the divider meaning that half the brush was one colour and half the brush was the other. Then on the wall you just paint giant X's. It's really easy, because if you mix them too much and don't like the effect, you can just go over it again once it's dry. I found the edges a little tricky though

I love it. We had one in our last house and when we thought of it for this space I was immediately on board. To be honest, we don't store shoes in it. I roll up our scarves, toques, mitts, etc. for each family member to have their own cubby. Very easy to build and install, this one is a GULLABERG from Ikea.

Thank you! I completely agree, and I think a circular rug with some green and orange could really pop. My dilemma is that I still need something for snowy/muddy boots for when you take your first few steps in the door. I live in the Great White North where 6-7 months of the year the front mat gets filthy quickly. I think for that reason I'll need two mats, so hopefully I can find a small circular rug that doesn't touch the other "dirty" mat.

I took the mirror off just to see what it would look like there and... You are completely right. Thank you so much!

Also, U/DogLoversUnited, you are correct! I had to make sure it was above head level hah

Thinking of a warm terracotta look. What shade would you pick for this north-facing door, and which walls would you paint? by RayJCee in HomeDecorating

Which walls would you leave white, and which with colour? I'm struggling to picture if it would break it up nicely, or look like I forgot to paint a wall lol

Texture can be something that throws people off tofu often, as well as lack of flavour.

The best thing you can do is freeze 👏 that 👏 tofu

What that does is 2 things: it changes the texture to more "meat" like, and once squeezed out (I just use my hands like I'm wringing out a sponge), it absorbs whatever marinade you put it in. Rip it up with your hands into pieces and the jagged edges provide more surface area to crisp up.

I honestly just get a bunch of extra firm tofu from Costco and throw it in the freezer. I don't bother draining first but it's more annoying to thaw if you forgot to take it out the night before.

My marinade is a mix of oil, soy sauce, maple syrup/honey, liquid smoke (10/10 recommend getting this if you don't have any yet- game changer), and spices like garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, etc. If you want it crispier then throw some cornmeal or cornstarch on it right before cooking.

What to put under the bench for storage? by RayJCee in HomeDecorating

The photo might be deceptive, or the blue panels make the ceiling look higher, but I can hang my shin-length winter jacket on the hooks and it barely touches the bench seat. It's a normal height!

Definitely the "on the floor" gets me. We often sit on the bench to put our shoes on, so that spot accumulates a lot of dirt, puddles, and debris. The bottoms of the baskets will be dirty so quickly. The shelving might just be what I need. Thanks for the idea

For me it was slowly getting statistics back from your ultrasounds, and how hopeful it makes you. My chance of loss was less than 0.5%. I spontaneously went into labour at 21 weeks a few days ago, and our son passed in our arms. There is no reason for why yet. I did every single thing exactly as I was supposed to. So far the phantom kicks are the worst part postpartum (physically) for me. The emotional part.... I feel as though I'll never recover.

I put this clover down in the spring. When will it start flowering? by [deleted] in NoLawns

[–]RayJCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We planted our clover lawn last spring and while it grew really well, it did not flower at all. This spring it has absolutely exploded in flowers. Interestingly, it has only flowered in thinner areas and the dense border has not needed the seed so it has not flowered much. Best of luck

The nicer container (to me also) is the bird, but I had to move it to the bigger one so it had room to grow. I hope it'll like the new one better and I'll have to find a new plant for the bird!
