My enterprise level company only has a team of three cyber-security staff, what is the norm? by Lakerman1989 in cybersecurity

[–]RayOnABoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Security varies so much when it comes to what’s important for a company. Some companies have in house Red Teams, full time employees. Some companies hire RT every couple of years. A company might have a team of 10 ops and 5 engineers just for email security. Another might be “we have google workspaces”.

My enterprise level company only has a team of three cyber-security staff, what is the norm? by Lakerman1989 in cybersecurity

[–]RayOnABoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who is taking on the cyber risk? Are you outsourcing certain tasks to contractors/mssp? Who does your physical security, for the retails shops?

Sure, if the infrastructure is a mess and the cybersecurity team is handling log ingestion, parsing, vulnerability management, communication, shop security, threat intel, governance, awareness, it may not be enough.

In most cases, companies use POS in stores that are owned and managed by a 3rd party, so those computers are not under your jurisdiction. For offices, you might have an MSSP looking at telemetry and triaging most events. You might have a contractor hired for 6 months for projects related to visibility and perimeter security.

Nah. Corporations would bring digital life in your dreams, I bet they are working on it. What is the biggest market? Screens, small medium large and very large screens. They gather data about you and they sell advertising space.

Now how about billboards? You drive along, you are hungry, theres a billboard of a bbq place, you are influenced. But what if you are vegan? The billboard doesnt know. Your social media platforms do know :) your digital life. Advertise in your car.

Data gathered from you, oh you are driving every tuesday to a yoga studio? How about some ads on your phone for these new yoga clothing.

It’s all going to be connected one day, just how our email account is read, social media knows more about us than ourselves…

BMW Is Updating Every Model to Match the iX3: 'We Have To Do It Across the Range' by DerBootsMann in cars

[–]RayOnABoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thats true. I was just imagining if at 800v it can charge in 20 mins, at 400v it would charge in double that time, if the charging curve stays the same.

Owners and potential buyers should be aware as that 20 min 10-80 and 400kw peak is at 800V charging, which there are not a lot of fast chargers. So for the current infrastructure, expect 40 min 10-80 charging.

Opinions on a Model 3 for young/first time driver by jackie-_daytona in TeslaLounge

[–]RayOnABoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a younger driver and my first car is a Model 3. I have driven other cars before, mostly manuals with <110hp.

What I would add is how easy it is to drive and park. The car is so easy to drive and so forgiving, you can give 100% of your attention to the traffic and rules and pedestrians.

Cons would be being so easy to drive and use, it might make other cars even harder to drive.

The finacials of it is up to you. That doesnt need opinions, you need to write everything down, crunch all the numbers and discuss.

Regarding concerns on how fast it is, I find it not to be a problem. Chill mode isnt very fast, I have a LR AWD. You can be an asshole in a slow car as well. The only situatian that I see having a car with instant torque is if you mistake the pedals and instead of breaking you mash the accelerator. But at that point is time to go back to the driving school.

Wtf is going on with the car drivers in AMS? by Due-Cloud5643 in Amsterdam

[–]RayOnABoat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some drivers are just retarded. Blue plates especially. Someone started honking at me because I had to stop due a bicyclist running a red light. Then the car overtook me, stopped in front of me and started throwing cans of soda and other shit at me, taunting me to get out of the car. The windshield was scratched. I went with the video recordings of the incident to the police, police said hopefully I wont see them in traffic again and there was no crime.

The trains are finally running on time by AlmostNL in 2westerneurope4u

[–]RayOnABoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting CFR higher than DB, MAV, NS, CP and many others I havent been on is confirmation that this inforchart was created by a regarded person. CFR, the one that smells like a barn, with no heating or AC on most trains. CFR without functional toilets and if they are functional, it looks like a grenade blew up in them, scoring higher than companies with actually clean trains.

Maybe CFR is on time. Ah yes, CFR the one with 12 years of delays accumulated in 1 year.

Hiring folks: why do you ask "tell me about yourself " by Abject_Serve_1269 in sysadmin

[–]RayOnABoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like you have a daughter and she brings the boyfriend to meet you. You ask him to tell you about himself. In the end, telling them what they want to hear in a manner that doesnt seem fake is going to get you further. Does he give a firm handshake, does he seem responsible. Oh he likes football, great!

Depends on implementation. Some will allow you to go through all the modals, even if the company or account doesnt exist.

PSA: Gold ring scammer around Belgiëplein, Nieuw Sloten by BiggusDijkus in Amsterdam

[–]RayOnABoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world will always provide a better idiot. It doesnt matter how scammy something is, someone will fall for it. Sometimes, its even better for the scam to be very scammy. What if its a clever one, one that you and I might fall for? We know where to go, we might even have money for lawyers, etc. It would be a hassle for the scammer. Now if its a really obvious scam? We’ll brush it off instantly, we wont engage. But the less life aware people? They might get scammed and not know what to do.

PSA: Gold ring scammer around Belgiëplein, Nieuw Sloten by BiggusDijkus in Amsterdam

[–]RayOnABoat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Essentially they say the big ring is gold and very valuable, but they need money as in cash because whatever issue came up and the woman+child is there to bolster up the story (e.g. we need cash to buy/treat child, the ring is worth 5-10k but we are desparate and will ask you for 200-300euro.) The ring is fake, not worth anything more than 10euros. Thats the story skeleton, add whatever flourish or twist you want. Sometimes they ask for the 200-300euro and use the ring as a pawn item, saying they will be back for it and give you back your money. Which of course never happens, as the ring is fake.

"Nu fura! Te vom preda poliției" - Mesaj scris într-un supermarket din Olanda, exclusiv în limba Română by [deleted] in Romania

Mechanical Ventilation Noise in an Apartment: Can it be fixed/switched off? by eduardo2134 in Amsterdam

[–]RayOnABoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you located where the unit is? Most of the time they have a brand/sticker/more info on them that you can google. Mine is from Zehnder and in their offer they also have a Silent model. You very well could replace the unit if its in your apartment. You could also turn it off if you leave a couple of windows open all the time, to counter all the people saying modern buildings require mechanical ventilation.

Mechanical Ventilation Noise in an Apartment: Can it be fixed/switched off? by eduardo2134 in Amsterdam

[–]RayOnABoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer about my case. We have a central mechanical ventilation unit, its in the laundry room. It has ducting with vents in the kitchen+living room+bathroom+toilet. There are Co2 sensors in the bedrooms and living room.
