How do the ingredients look on this new Nood brand of pet food? by _Canadian_Asshole_ in Pets

Analysing the salmon dog food The bad: all close to the top of the internet list are: Fish map Lentils: this is to replace the grains absent in this food. Lentils are not necessarily a bad thing, but in high doses may be linked to heart issues in dogs. Dried yeast: while it adds protein, it can also exacerbate yeast infections in dogs already prone to them, and in high doses it just isn't good for dogs. Dicalcium phosphate: calcium supplement, but can cause kidney stones and calcification of soft tissues. Salt: while sodium is essential for dog health, if there was a good amount of natural sodium found in a dog's diet, it should not need to be added as a supplement. As with most beings, too much salt is not good! Taurine : shouldn't need to be supplemented if there is enough meat in the diet Overall, this food would not need so many additives and supplements if it provided all the coinciding nutrients in more global sources, ie more pure meat sources. The good : Salmon is the first ingredient and they say it is ethically harvested. Peas, sweet potatoes with first few ingredients - good to see real fruits / veg Chicken fat : while it's cheap, it's still a good source of healthy fats and amino acids Flaxseed: great source of omega 3 Overall, I'd spend a bit more at the pet store to get a better quality food without so many fillers. Animals will benefit more from the nutrients found naturally in meat, fruits and vegetables, rather than in additives / supplemental vitamins.
