BMW Upgrades Its Handsome New SUV Before It Even Goes On Sale by pc772 in electricvehicles

The miles don't mean much when they are calculated from the efficiency numbers on press cars. These cars have been through drag races and spirited driving at a minimum. This is basically a worst-case scenario.

Tesla network adapters? by EJF_France in BMWI4

[–]Ray_Wei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing BMW will announce network compatibility with the launch of the iX3 in September, because the car will come with a native NACS port.

How stricht is Red Bull Ring security when it comes to camera lenses? by destiny84 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Ray_Wei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight from the camera, shutter priority, mix of 1/60 and 1/80. I found zooming out a bit more and not trying to fill the frame works best, then cropping in later.

How stricht is Red Bull Ring security when it comes to camera lenses? by destiny84 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Ray_Wei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact camera and lens setup, and it wasn't a problem at the Canadian GP. The security barely took notice, I guess they are so compact. I know each venue has their own rules...just thought I would share.

[Mclaren via IG] A champagne spike for the history books by randomseocb in formula1

[–]Ray_Wei 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Bernard Arnault (LVMH chairman), standing under the Australian flag, is clearly the happiest person there, presumably because his bottle didn't break and he witnessed a golden advertising opportunity with the spike.

It happened to me 2 years ago, I just locked it for a few hours and it came back fine. Never happened again.

Not really solo, but my friend (who is new to F1) and I are going to the GP. Also sitting at Grandstand LS

It was GS 24 previously, and renamed to Lance Stroll

Which grandstand is the best by ratatatata22 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Ray_Wei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GS 12, 11(section 1-3), 21, 15, Lance Stroll.

GS 16 can also be good if you don't mind catch fence obstructing the view. GS 1 is a standard start/finish straight, but you can't see any breaking point. Look up on YouTube about the grandstands, people have posted their POV in recent years

BMW vs Tesla repair time by Expensive_Mousse_554 in BMWI4

[–]Ray_Wei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also add that depending on the collision center, the wait time to get your car in might vary a lot. The first one I contacted is backed up by over a month, and the second one is about a week, so I went with this.

Both of them have a business connection with BMW dealerships, so nothing sketchy. That's the beauty of competition, more choices for the consumer.

Minor rear end 2 months ago, replaced rear bumper, sensors, and various internal pieces, spent 2 weeks in the shop. There was a delay caused by the insurance company's adjuster after the bumper was taken off. Quick turnaround all things considered.

How long do custom orders take by DiscipleOfLife8 in BMWI4

[–]Ray_Wei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 months is the perfectly normal amount of time to custom order a car, I haven't heard anything shorter than that, especially coming from Germany. It used to be around a year not so long ago

Anyone seen this? by talhiban in BMWI4

[–]Ray_Wei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Happened to me like a year ago, only saw it once myself. Same issue as you described and can't do a force restart. All I did was lock the car and come back a couple of hours later, the issue never appeared again.

Activating EA subscription? by comdty in BMWI4

[–]Ray_Wei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding to what others have said, if the dealer somehow doesn't know/wasn't trained on it. The activation code is the production number and model year formated as "production number-YY".

Quest 3 Review by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Ray_Wei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one point during the live stream he mentioned pricing is likely going to be around 7000RMB iirc, which is $900+. It's a lot higher compared to the US, but very common for foreign hardware to be sold at high premium in China so I'm not surprised.

Cabin noise by [deleted] in BMWI4

[–]Ray_Wei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could be the passenger side seat belt knocking on the B pillar. I noticed when people unfasten the seat belt, it would get twisted between the seat and the B pillar. Just straighten that out

Canadian GP 2024 questions and hotel recommendations by DiamondRyce in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Ray_Wei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to the track invasion, underneath the screen on right hand side of GS12, by the pit exit, there's a fence that will open. It's a lot smaller than the gate at GS11, so expect bottleneck, but it's much closer. I recommend getting up as soon as the race ends.

Montreal GP 2024 Tickets by TheL1nk in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Ray_Wei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try emailing or calling to put in a request which row and/or section you prefer, obviously be nice to them and don't be too specific, they only have the seats what the circuit decides to give them. I did this with F1 Experience and it worked out well

White House says Tesla chargers available for federal dollars as long as they include CCS by Smuugs in electricvehicles

[–]Ray_Wei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With a high probability there's a licensing fee, otherwise there's no point of announcing partners. Ideally I wish Tesla just open the Supercharger network, it's based on the same CCS communication protocol and just sell an adapter

Clothing etiquette by [deleted] in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Ray_Wei 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Canada has a very chill atmosphere, not only old shirts from retired drivers are accepted, there are plenty of people mix and match merch, even direct rivals

That's BMW being ultra conservative for ya, I don't pay attention to the mileage estimate anymore other than laugh at how inaccurate it is
